Capcom dates Onimusha, Clock Tower films

2011 for Onimusha, next year for Clock Tower says company
Capcom is celebrating its 25th birthday this week by slapping dates on two of its upcoming game-to-film adaptations.

Onimusha is the company's historical Japanese action series, which mainly graced the PS2. Clock Tower meanwhile, is one of the Japanese giant's lesser known survival horrors, which sees a little girl battling evil spirits.

The Onimusha flick is lined up for a 2011 release, according to Capcom's US blog, with Silent Hill director Cristophe Gans handling directing duties. Good news then, as Silent Hill is one of the better film adaptations we've come across.

Clock Tower is coming a lot sooner, in 2009 - yes, next year. Filming is expected to start soon with Hills Have Eyes director Martin Weisz at the helm. And if you ask us, Clock Tower sounds like it has the best chance of being a decent film, mainly because the game, while good, is a little obscure around these parts.

They'll mess it up. Transport a Samurai warrior to a modern day setting, a la Les Visiteurs, or put too many modern day Americans in feudal Japan.

And just because Clock Tower's obscure does'nt mean it'll be any good.

Paddy McGuiness is obscure round many parts and he's sh+t.

Why would they go with the time travel story line of Onimusha 3? I think the film will go with the first game and be set in feudal Japan with our hero Hidemitsu Samanosuke unleashing a can of samurai whoop ass on demons. Sounds very good.

I agree that a Clock Tower movie could well suck.

How would they sell a Japanese film about samurai to the average American? I mean look at the Last Samurai, they had to shove Tom Cruise in that to sell it.

Trust me, as much as i'd like to see what you envision put on screen it'll never happen.

They should use the modern-day actor who was used for Onimusha 1 and 3.

ClockTower was a kickass SNES game. And I loved the PS1-Sequel. But isnt it a girl chased by a psychopath (but supernatural) killer "Scissorman"?

Yeah, wasn't he in House of Flying Daggers? he'd be quality.
