Funcon has revealed what players can expect to see added to Age of Conan over the next couple of months, promising new content, gameplay and social mechanics that should fatten out the MMO.
Top of the list is a PvP update, scheduled for later on this month.
It will include ten PvP character levels, specific gear and unique weapons, and a fugitive system that will penalise players who hunt low level characters. If you do, other players will find it easier to track you down and kill you in hideously gory ways.
Elsewhere, a guild update called Kingship will allow guilds to form alliances, create unique looking Battlekeeps and build culture-specific 'wonders of the world' that have a direct link to the gods.
A reward system named Powerpoints will also be introduced. These points are given out for owning a Battlekeep, playing the end-game, winning PvP, or simply being an active player.
You can spend these on weapons, armour and potions, or they might even allow you to level faster. Which makes no sense if you earn a lot of these points when you're level 80. Nevermind.
On top of these major changes, Funcom promises that players can expect new areas and dungeons, social updates (including a comb-based dancing system that sounds like DDR) and more adventures.
Our personal favourite tidbit is that sixty quests will get full voice-acting, so it won't seem like the entire world becomes mute past level 20.
Now if we can see a reduction in boar-killing quests and an increase in those seen in the earlier areas the game, we think Funcom would have a long term hit on their hands. It all sounds promising, indeed.
Sounds great, but should've been included in the retail release as people paid good money for a finished game. Instead, the promised content is being trickled in over period of months. Makes you wonder if Funcom is treating the PC version as a glorified Xbox360 beta.
However, if Conan does finally realise its potential, I'll definately signing up.
I'm already an existing player and loving the game!
It is a shame that there is so many bugs but hay it's all comming together with the 2 weekly update and thre are alot of change due
I do love the idea of the fugitive idea for pvp lol and that they are putting the voice acting into quest over lvl 60 will make the grind that little more worth it as after 50 lvling gets a little slow
But by the look of this report things are looking very promising!
Sounds to me they released a half finished game. Reason I am staying clear for a good few months. The Fugitive system is nothing new, been done before in PvP.

Funcom were about to get into financial trouble so it was a case of release or die. Most MMO developers hit the same problem, only Blizzard can really afford to delay a MMO until it's ready.

yeh dont be dumb, name a fully proper untroubled mmo launch.

Knew I'd manage to bait a fanboy. Your lack of education once again betrays you, as I called Conan an Unfinished game, which it is and cannot be argued against. I did not mention the multitude of bugs, as these infest virtually every game ever created, online or otherwise. I did not mention the server crashes, this happens to all MMOs at the start of their lives.
I called it unfinished, which it is. Katar claims Funcom was under a financial constraint to release the game without many promised features, speech for virtually all quests post level 20 missing, and talking of quests, good luck find more than a few after level 40! Tell me an MMO that's shipped with so much content missing? I can't think of any.
So please, disengage your brain out of fanboy gear and enjoy the game you're blindly defending. As I wrote at the end of my first post, once this game has content worth playing all the way to the level cap, I'll give it a go.
EDIT: In fact, here's possibly the best review of the game I've read, one not taken in by the shiny starting area: http://www.yougamers.com/reviews/19142_age_of_conan_hyborian_adventures/
All I will say is if anyone is thinking of getting this game wait for about 5 months and see what state it is then, because now its just a mess, I say this as a warning and not to start some boring arguement about how all MMOs have bugs on release.
Better than Vanguard says it all about the overall quality. I am amazed at how many reviews these days isolate parts of a game or an element and use that to justify such high scores and praise.

But it happens the other way, too. If you read the PCZ review elsewhere on the site, the reviewer clearly misunderstands the combat system and then claims it doesn't work, resulting in an unfair criticism, simply because he got it wrong.
Fair enough if he doesn't like it or if he were to highlight a genuine flaw in the game (of which, yes, there are a number, but they're being addressed) but instead he marks it down because he doesn't understand how it works.
That's like criticising a banana for not being a fish.
