Now that Alone in the Dark is all done, game director David Nadal has come out to reveal why, in the early stages of development, Atari almost scrapped the whole project.
In this making of video(right), he talks of his love of the Alone in the Dark series (including nostalgic footage of the PC original), and why his dream of making the new game was almost destroyed when Atari dismissed early concept designs as "too ambitious".

The New Nightmare ruined the franchise. Still not keen on a modernised Carnby, though this one looks much more creative. Even AITD2 and 3 weren't a patch on the original. Only Eternal Darkness has come close.
The game looks pretty decent, though I have been put off by the horrible plasticy faces of the characters. They look like they have been made out of plasticine. Maybe they should release a Morph game. I'd buy that one!
If the game was any good we would have seen reviews by now. Publishers keeping a game from reviewers until it's on the shelf is a sure fired sign the game is crap.
I saw one on Playr (Bravo channel) at the weekend. They cited there were a few fiddly control issues, but overall, it was pretty cool - 8/10. They did say the story keeps you gripped all the way through though, an nice bonus IMO.
Someone i know who writes for a certain 360 mag said that Alone in the dark, "s**ts all over your dreams".. doesnt sound good & early reviews have been pulled because of very low scores 3/10!... opps, shame really as this game looked like it had real potential.....
