EA bans the Spore porn

It was only a matter of time...
It seems that the days of computer created penis monsters and self-buggering entities are numbered, as EA has started threatening to ban people for creating porn using the Spore Creature Creator.

While EA has confirmed that more than 250,000 creatures have been created since the service launched, some of them apparently violate the terms and conditions of the service. Really?

One such monster was PC Gamer's Kristen Salvatore's creation, Boobalicious (see right). Made as a retort to PC Gamer UK's own creation, Kristen received an email from EA that read:

"Your Electronic Arts account has been flagged for violating the Electronic Arts Inc Terms of Service. We believe that the violation or behaviour is serious enough to bring to your attention as it may impact your future access to the service."

When we contacted EA regarding the email, a representative said: "Whether it's modeling clay, dolls or crayons, a small number of people can be counted on to use it for something inappropriate.

"SPORE is a great creative tool with parental controls that allows users to flag objectionable content and keep it out of their game."

If you haven't had enough of Spore Porn already, check out our feature detailing some of the, err, best.

Spoil sports.

Stands to reason really. It's supposed to be a game suitable for all. You can't stick a 7+ certificate on something that has c**ks and boobs flapping about all over the place Smile
Dajmin on 19 Jun '08
Then Spore is not a good idea?

LBP'll be same - Can't wait! SmileSmileSmile

Ha Ha Ha.. I've not laughed so much in ages....

And I thought I'd seen it all with the Breast faced, Bottom faces and Penis faced Mii's on the Vote for me Mii channel...

Ha Ha!

They must have seen this coming lol unless they are the kind of people who would fall in a bucket of t**s and still come out sucking there thumb!!

I bet some people will find a subtle way around this, i know i will try
$$johnman$$ on 19 Jun '08
What's the matter with em, no one at EA got a sense of humour? All they need to do is segregate them into an 'Over 18s' section and encourage it.
Some of the vids of creatures I've seen were utterly hilarious, and it's a shame to stifle such creativity in my opinion.

Spoil sports.

You know, I said exactly the same thing right before I clicked on the comments section here Smile

Ea in a nut shell really isn't it... if you don't want me to do it don't give me a sandbox game. You can't really stop me playign a sandbox game as i want to, as was said, either have an over 18's section, or dont' allow uploads.

I suppose they were too naive to think people use the creature creator like this Laughing
Goona on 19 Jun '08
Yeah, they didn't see it comingSmile

God I crack myself up.

Maybe they assumed that people would show some decency when playing an E-rated game. How naive, eh?
Dajmin on 19 Jun '08
Major sense of humour failure, guys.
Railgun_Sniper on 19 Jun '08
Oh well, it was funny whilst it lasted. I was in tears of laughter at some of those disturbing creations.

The planet of Boobaloo 8 has just been invaded by an alien race of knackers- the horror! Laughing
MrPirtniw on 19 Jun '08
Why couldn't they just put an age filter on the thing?
funkyjack on 19 Jun '08
It's still pending a rating from the ESRB. So until they get that, they can't put a rating on it.

Because it's online I'm expecting a Teen rating though, which means no nudity. And it's cartoony, so it might even end up lower than that.

They should've made 2 versions of the game - 1 the style it is currently and another in the complex style it was originally planned to be. I bet it was EA and their mass-market ideas that forced Will Wright to simplify it. Swines.
Dajmin on 19 Jun '08
Pretty boring, it made the game a lot more interesting i think Very Happy
almanac2015 on 19 Jun '08
Isn't this like Adobe telling people they're not allowed to draw c**ks in photoshop?

This is ridiculous. They will *never* be able to stop people doing it - the answer is to allow it to go on in its own "adults only" area, and let people have their fun.

Way to alienate your audience guys.
JimSteele on 19 Jun '08
Boo Hiss to EA the dirty rotten penis haters.

I cut of your Johnson EA.
caodonnell on 19 Jun '08
Or better yet the idea of having "inapropriate" stuff in the game seems to be a popular idea, then why don't they create a whole new game where you can have this "inappropriate" material.
I tell you, it would be a hell of a lot more entertaining than any Sim games I've ever played.
Chuck a 18+ rating on it, and it would be a killer I think.

It might be a game that would encourage the perves, but the intent should be to aim it at an audience with a sense of humour.
Mantel112 on 19 Jun '08
Sorry but this was obviously going to happen
olih27 on 19 Jun '08
The right wing corporate machine doesn't take kindly to people pulling on their c**ks it seems. Still I guess youtube will become home to those creating but not posting there creations online. Lets see what EA do then.
ronin Ithikus on 19 Jun '08

I personally am thanking ea for this. While the inappropriate content was fun to look at i would not like it while i am playing my game. Not just because it would look bad and unrealistic for a semi-realistic environment, but i would also prefer if when i was attacked by an "epic" it would be the 100ft fanged bunny rather than being destroyed by a 150ft giant c**k.
