Footage of a Star Wars level in Soul Calibur IV has popped up on the internet, adding yet more Lucas iconography to the title.
As previously confirmed, Yoda, Darth Vader and The Secret Apprentice from The Force Unleashed will be playable characters in the game. To compliment their presence, there will be a Star Wars-themed level. Whatever next? the soundtrack?
We're not entirely sure where the footage came from, but someone has got their mits on the game early and filmed it to death.
The level appears to be based on the landing bay seen in Return of the Jedi, where the Emperor made his first appearance in the movies. Despite the similarity, the level is called 'Star Destroying landing bay', no doubt so the devs could get the image of the Death Star in the background.
It looks pretty impressive. And while the sound quality on the video isn't great, we also think there's Star Wars music featured in the level.
If you look carefully at the bottom right of the screen, you'll see 'Main Title / Rebel Blockade Runner' pop up just before the fighting starts. It's the title of the opening track to Episode IV, don't you know?
Soul Calibur IV is scheduled to be released at the end of the month. We can't wait.
is it me or is the American accent incredibly annoying? i mean, so annoying i would pluck out my eye sockets with a Wii-mote and shove a sensor bar in the cavity.
Was really looking forward to this game until they announced star wars characters, are namco on drugs or something? Don't get me wrong star wars is great in its own way but its characters don't belong in soul calibur.
I assume that was the PS3 version as that stage is more suited to Vader than Yoda. I'd imagine/hope a Dagobah background for the little green fella will be shown soon enough.

I agree, here's hoping for the option to swap between japanese and american languages for the character voices.
Erm, sorry but the Emperor was first shown in the Empire Strikes Back.
Seen 'in the flesh'...
Maybe it's me, but I was more interested with what was going on in the backgrounds there - the Star Destroyer, the TIE Fighters, the explosions. Looked great.
Also, did anyone else find themselves wishing this was a Star Wars beat em up ala Masters of Teras Kasi? Just strikes me that the Soul Calibur theme has been done to death, but there aren't many Star Wars fighters...
Looks sweet! However im not sure wherever i want to get a fighting game, since they rarely ever last.
i agree. i also don't know why they don't make the moves more realistic in these fighting games. they are always unbelievably fast. I'm sure it would be more fun and skillful if you had the movements like in a real fist fight. only my opinion of course.

I think he might of been reffering to the people talking in the clip, but you do have a point too. Here's hoping the English voices aren't as cheesy in this game.
Even despite the blurry video quality and poor audio this still looks good
Sounds like they're playing in public too, so maybe there's demo pods of some sort somewhere in America? Hopefully it means there'll be a demo on XBL sometime soon.
