Konami has released seventeen screenshots from its Wii Castlevania fighting spin-off, Castlevania: Judgement.
Despite the strange choice in where to take the series, the screenshots actually look pretty good. There really isn't a decent fighting game on the console, so whilst we were hoping for a more faithful Castlevania game, things aren't looking too bad at all.
Each the stages are fully interactive as well. Players can pick up elements, throw them at adversaries and make use of them in various ways.
You can also take Judgement online in order to fight friends and it's compatible with the new DS game, Castlevania: Order of Eccelsia. All sounds good for a fighting game.
pretty rubbish, actually. Whats with the new character designs? Alucard and Maria, once resplendent in their faux-victorian costumes, frills and all, now just look like generic anime horror types.
Sorry to throw a spanner in the works but I actually think it looks quite nice and certainly better than expected.
Just because we have got used to powerful, high-end machines churning out photo-realism, it doesn't mean that we should turn our noses up at something so obviously 'manga'.
What I worry about are the motion-controlled moves. One of the reasons Super Smash Bros Brawl was such a success, was that it stuck to traditional pad control.
I'm all for motion control on certain games, but beat-em-ups are just not suited.

I love manga as a style, but this isn't a great example of it. I don't even think its got anything to do with the power of the console. Soul Calibur 2 looked much better than this on Gamecube.
However, graphics won't make it a bad game, and I can see your point about the motion control. It's strangely ironic that a controller you thrust around in mid-air to control movement isn't great at handling beat 'em ups.
