We feel like we've been set up and knocked down by this news; reports that long-missing 360 and PC action thriller Alan Wake would be appearing at TGS have been rubbished by developer Remedy, yet again leaving fans in the dark.
Excitement built as a Microsoft flyer emerged advertising a competition to get your face in Alan Wake, with then winner rolled out at Tokyo Game Show in September.
Unfortunately, Remedy's come out on its official forum to point out that that's September 2007, and the flyer's a year old.
"The Microsoft Vista promotion referring to TGS took place in 2007, and is old news - we've had the winner over for taking the pictures already," reads Remedy's post over on the official Alan Wake forums.
"Sorry for the confusion and possible disappointment, but this was not an announcement that Wake would be shown at TGS 2008. Remedy's team is just getting back from a bit of holiday and we haven't had time to chat with Microsoft on upcoming shows/showings yet."
So yet again we're left knowing bugger all on the state of Alan Wake. At least by the sound of the statement it's still very much in development, but it's all becoming a bit of a joke now. We haven't seen it for two years.
I hope the devs realise that this game will have to deliver a completely mind blowing flawless epic of an adventure to survive after this delay. It will get ripped to pieces if it isnt at least AAA.

No wonder we've not seen anything for ages, the lazy buggers have been off on holiday instead of finishing Alan Wake, I bet they only work half days too...
I like the fact i havent seen a million video's on this game & been shown every aspect of the game in screen shots (unlike killzone 2!) the game has some mystery, they should do this right up to the reelease date, its refreshing to play something where u dont know where its leading, games can get over exposed.
Oh FFS, I wish we would hear SOMETHING, hell, anything about this game...
It is funny how any mention of Alan Wake is met with 'LOL, vapourware' etc, and yet Heavy Rain - the last of which was also seen 2 years ago - is lauded as being gamings saviour.

lol yeah its refreshing to not no when or if a game is even being released its about as refreshing duke nukem forever
Yes, CVG, you'll notice in the comments board when you originally ran this story that I and others pointed out that the competition end date was 2007...

my thoughts exactly. must of been on holiday from the launch of the first trailer ? lol
What? They've got back from "a bit of a holiday" and they haven't had chance to chat with MS about upcoming shows? That doesn't sound quite right to me. These shows are planned months in advance and unless their "bit of a holiday" lasted a year, it's highly suspicious to think that it got in the way of a discussion with MS about showing it.
MS will have looked at the three shows and chosen carefully from its palette of titles in development what to show and when. Then every team will have dropped the marketing material into their schedules.
It suggests that either it's not in a state to be shown or it no longer exists. After all, why would the company have been sent away on holiday when their in production on an anticipated release?

To be fair they've not pushed it in your face, not given it a release date and missed, not been hyping it at all... What's yer problem. It's gonna come out when it's finished whether it's 2 months or two more years. Until then they're not hurting anybody. When it comes out it will be judged as a newly released game. It will be good or bad. The length of development is irrelevant.
I pre-ordered this as a 360 launch title in europe in Dec 2005! So nearly 3 years on and still no sign of a release....its all good having exclusives but make sure they come out Microsoft!
Simple fact is that 360 is covered for exclusives this fall. More than likley MS have told Remedy they have until fall 2009 to release this, so maybe we'll actually see some footage and a media explosion next E3.

Simple fact is more than likely your comments are wishful thinking.
That'll be something to do with Vista. It seems as if Remedy are determined for it to be Vista exclusive and now their just waiting for the take up rate to improve, they'll have a long wait if that's what their waiting for then!

Ah Windows Vista. Slowing down XBox 360 development one day at a time.
What other rubbish excuses have the fanboys got for Alan Wake?
Here's a theory... The electric went out so his alarm clock got reset.
Who are you trying to impress besides your own feeble mind. Your one positive influence is to keep all our index fingers in perfect working order as we quickly scroll passed your dumbass posts.

Hurrah, I'm FANBOY I've lost my cherry!Funny that, I got rid of my 360 year ago, kept breaking down of course!
LordVonPS3 you need to stop being such a sad fanboy and realise that Alan Wake will blow away anything Sony will release in the next three years. Why so cranky? Are you missing you FFXIII exclusivity? PSLOL

Ah come come. Why so serious my serious flower? What goes around comes around (or at least it does after a bit of a delay).

I'll tell you why so serious...I get home from a rather stressful day at work to read up on some information regarding a game I am particularly interested in (bad news or not), and then read the comments incase anybody has some further info to add - but what do I find? Some f**king fanboy spamming the page after the first few posts.

Eh Barone... Where's your Stiletto henchman?
Maybe Freddy Kruger's got hold of him because it's looking like Alan Wake won't ever.
With the current situation with Alan Wake, they found it suitable to take a holiday!? Probably taking advantage of those M$ funds, eh? Im just happy im not a big follower of Alan Wake, because if i was this wait would kill me

I assure you it is relevant.
Who's to say anyone will have a working XBox 360 by the time this one gets released? The 360 does 0 to RRoD in < 6 months.
Who knows, maybe the 60GB XBox 360's will have the RRoD fixed? Don't be silly!
I suppose it takes a Fag to be obsessed with a red ring!!..
Your so sad just coming on every 360 thread & going "yer but it'll RRoD!"... look at your life & tell me this is what you had planned for yourself?, your an embarrisment...

That's your opinion which you're entitled to, but then where's your great contribution to society - or this microcosm?
The short videos and write-ups I've seen for it all look stunning, so I've no idea what Suivaloom is talking about.
Add to that the fact that I'd need to upgrade my PC to run it on the same settings that will be standard on the 360 version and I have a damn good reason not to be looking for a PC copy.
This is a bloody joke now - We've been waiting for ages and once we get news on it, it just ends up being false claims - just like the "Alan Wake info draught won't last much longer" lie. This game is going to end up being released right under peoples noses without them realising and no one will buy it. This game has to be very very very very very very very very very very very good with the amount of time they're taking with it. Remedy aren't even working on any other games. Looks like Resi 5 will be release before this game is - we may even have a Silent Hill 6 coming out before then - this is how silly this is getting.
I really hope they pick the new Xbox name soon, because the name 720 is crap. I'm hoping for something simple like X3.
But that's at least 2 years away. I doubt they'd be able to hold off releasing any more info that long.
Unless the reason for the delay is that they're making Max Payne 3 instead
True, and the funny thing is it would probably sell better too!
It would be cool if Remedy could get Nurse With Wound to do the soundtrack, but convincing Stephen Stapleton to agree to it would be like expecting Paul McCartney to eat a bacon sandwich!

I think you've got it spot on with Too Human starting it off in August Fable 2 in October and Gears 2 Nov And with Left 4 Dead, Viva Pinata 2, Halo Wars and Banjo and Kazooie all in and around that time there's enough console exclusives to keep most 360 owners happy and with the 100 hours of Fallout 3 who really needs Alan Wake this year.
Alan Wake should be a good game if it ever gets released.
It's been hyped up quite a bit, and unfortunately hyped up games can sometimes be turkeys(like Haze ps3 and killzone 2). I've heard some bad things about killzone 2, maybe they'll delay it until 2010 and improve it(delay's are pretty much the norm for sony titles).
