Aliens FPS taps Battlestar Galactica writers

Popular sci-fi scribes writing Gearbox's co-op shooter
Gearbox president Randy Pitchford has confirmed that Battlestar Galactica writers Bradley Thompson and David Weddle have penned the script for Aliens: Colonial Marines.

"They're amazing guys," he said in an interview with ShackNews.

"They gave us a lot, too. We could make a whole season of TV with the stuff they gave us." Don't tease us with ideas of an Aliens TV show, David. The game looks like it will do.

Pitchford also said that the company has hired Syd Mead to work on the game as a conceptual artist. Mead designed the big marine spaceship called the Sulaco in the original Aliens movie, as well as a whole bunch of stuff for Blade runner.

"To be able to go to his studio," the Gearbox chief continued, "his house, and then have him draw a bunch of stuff. 'Here's when I designed the Sulaco back when we made the first movie. Here's the original artwork. You want a copy?'"

According to Pitchford, Mead is designing a lot of the areas inside the Sulaco not seen in the movies. Our expectations just continue to grow...

Syd Mead, w00tage!

Oh, and those two guys who actually wrote the better episodes of the new Battlestar series.

Not bad going for such a beloved, but recently very badly treated franchise.

+1 to excitement meter!

Ah! Bladerunner - now there is a solid gold game in waiting for some thrifty developer!
And don't even bother mentioning some crap 80's game on the commodore or something similar.

How about a fantastic 90's game on the PC?

FFS get those guys to script a Battlestar game!

Imagine battling toasters and skinjobs on Caprica as Helo, or fighting the same as Anders/etc in the resistance on New Caprica. Then mix in some Viper battles as Starbuck/Apollo. Maybe a stealth section as Athena infiltrating a base full of other copies.

And that's just off the top of my head.

Would be the best game ever, so say we all.

1st a game has to utilise the perpetual loop,?what?
THE PERPETUAL LOOP is a game plan were u do the same thing for days but keep playing.Take pac man and space invaders and you will get the picture.
Next Aliens is about surviving and killing loads of the acid for blood goons. So keep it like COD4 good story for the offline mode, lots of diffrent settings but no story for the online mode.Dam that cod4 online is a bitch of a loop dont think I will get out of life alive?

They got Syd Mead to help with the design!!!!!!!!

I think I want Gearbox's babies ..... if I had the equipment of course. This is some seriously level headed and inspired thinking guys. Kudos!
