Microsoft has revealed that a number of Hollywood directors will be making short horror-comedy movies for Xbox Live.
Starting this autumn, horror directors including James Wan ("Saw"), David Slade (the excellent "Hard Candy") and James Gunn ("Dawn of the Dead" remake) will bring exclusive films to the service.
Those attending the San Diego Comic-Con this week will be able to get a sneak preview at the movies, as well as hear from some of the directors.
For the rest of us, Microsoft will be running "Bringing Comic-Con Home" through Xbox Live from today until Sunday. Xbox owners will be able to download interviews, trailers and sneak peaks from upcoming movies The Watchman and Terminator Salvation, as well as the next season of TV show The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
As an added bonus, there will be content from the Lost Boys sequel The Tribe, starring Corey Feldman.
We're not entirely sure how or why Microsoft is involved with all of this (aside from offering cool stuff over Live), but we're not complaining. Any chance for David Slade to get some more work is alright in our book.
Nice coup for Microsoft and I'm looking forward to hopefully seeing some quality films and trailers coming to Live real soon...Oh and yeah "Hard Candy" was a cool film even if it was a bit of an unsettling twist on the usual cat & mouse storyline!
Wann and Gunn are better known as writers than directors. Gunn is an excellent writer, he improved Romeros orginal screen play for the Dawn of the Dead remake and wrote and directed the under rated Slithers. Any short stories from these guys will be top quality.
I'm not too sure about the preview clips. PSN already has movie previews and it's about as much use as balls on priest. If you want up to date film previews without taking up precious HD space go to Yahoo movies. The new Terminator film preview is already there (and it looks bloody awesome).
