Microsoft has confirmed that Silicon Knights' long, long-coming bruiser Too Human will be out in Europe on August 29 - a week behind the States.
Impatient Americans can get at the 360-exclusive actioner on August 19, after over eight years of planning and development at the Canadian studio (it was originally planned for the PlayStation... yes, the first one).
There's a demo on Xbox Live right now, offering the starting section and opening cut-scene of the game (but no co-op, sorry). We've had a go on some preview code and think it's a pretty enjoyable hack 'n slasher.
Worth ten years of planning though? Ask us again in a month.
I may be in the minority but I thought Too Human looked ok, sure its nothing revolutionary but its still a decent offering and in co op its supposed to shine.
I was not at all impressed with the demo. Horrible voice acting, generic button-mashing gameplay (except on an analogue stick). Good levels of customisation, but other than that it's a bit of a poor effort.
The demo actually surprised me. It was a lot better than I anticipated. It's not a bad game. I'm just not in a rush to buy it now but would considered it in a few months when the price has dropped.
I'm still on the fence. The demo was a pleasant surprise in many ways, but I'm not sure if the game's got enough depth to keep my interest for more than a couple of hours.
Guess I'll give it a few weeks and wait until the reviews are all in.
I initially hated it but figured i should give a a couple more goes.
If you treat it as solely a slasher then you will be disapointed - it's more than that.
It is however very satisfying when it clicks and you will know when that happens.
When you start to understand how things work together, this is then you realise how much fun and refreshing the combat is.
Trouble is most people go by first impressions and that is never a true reflection of what you're playing half the time.
Played the demo well over 10 times now and it just gets better each play.
If you still don't get it then maybe you only go for DMC or gaiden - fair enough but this isn't a rotten game.
The biggest complaint i suspect is how the animation looks somehow disconnected but further play does away with this feeling altogether if you're playing attention to the more deeper working that is the rpg side of things.
