Europe makes up "less than a quarter" of Xbox Live's total membership, mostly down to language differences, Euro Xbox VP Chris Lewis has revealed.
Speaking in the latest issue of Edge, Lewis said this expectedly leaves the US with "the lion's share" of Xbox Live users.
"We don't normally break out the European element of our Live membership," said Lewis. "I mean, I know what it is, but I don't want to get rapped on the knuckles by being too explicit with you. I will say to you as a percentage of that overall total, it's just less than a quarter.
"And I'll tell you also that a large part of that is in the UK," he continued, "partly because of the language aspect, the fact is you need, on a community service like Live, enough people of a similar language orientation to get a community so that it starts to really blow out.
"Up until fairly recently we just haven't had enough on the service for non-English-speaking folks. In France, for example, we've only recently started to get figures where you've got enough French-speaking folks getting a rich enough experience to talk about it meaningfully to their friends. "
When asked if he thought Europe is ready for leading an online life through its living room TV, rather than a PC, Lewis responded that he didn't think it is, but that he thinks "the time is now".
"The whole industry is getting really close to the inflection point where that's what people just crave and I just know that we will offer the best experience," he said. "I just know we are so well placed to continue and invest and develop the service like nobody else can."
Interesting reading. I would like an XBL Service that could compare to the States, the deal they have with Netflix sounds brilliant and I want a piece of that pie but if we amount to less than a quarter of the userbase its understandable that the Yanks would get preferential treatment. I have enjoyed downloading the odd movie though so maybe it will just take time?
I think the simple truth is, Europeans are less keen on swearing at each other and playing hip-hop music at full volume than the Americans. A high percentage of live users don't use a mic for its intended gaming purpose. Saying that, I have noticed a lot of Europeans on PSN. And, although it is a more muted affair than LIVE, it is also more friendly and welcoming, from my experience. In fact, throughout my time playing Warhawk, I very rarely hear expletives or childish behavour. But I do hear a lot of Europeans.
I play rainbow 6 online alot and the servers generally put you into rooms with british and european gamers, this is hugely preferable to our american friends. I hope europe will catch up online as their conduct and behaviour is far superior, also many europeans happily speak english when in an english speaking room.

I agree i love live and have met some nice people on it but there is nothing worse then being stuck on a squad in bad company with a bunch of racist inbred american hicks, still even with that i still prefer live to the other 2 services, having played on my friends ps3 i find that its hard to have any sort of teamplay as hardly any1 has a headset and as for the wii's service well the less said the better
Europe just needs to get out of Sony's bed and realize the 360 offers a really great experience with Live.
I've played in gaming clans over the years on my PC and it's apparent the UK and Holland have the highest percentage of gamers, quickly followed by Germany. All can speak english, so I'm not sure his comments regarding the language barrier are relevant. For example I play the Project Reality mod for BF2 and almost everyone you come across in a squad can speak english.
This guy really needs to pull his head out of his a**e.What does he expect when they are charging non US subscribers the world over an absolute premium price to use a service that provides virtually nothing in comparison to the cheaper US service.
This guy needs to check exchange rates and quantity and quality of the service he is providing before shooting his mouth off.
You would swear that M$ have no clue when it comes to customer service.

Thats the problem us brits have got with all 3 systems' the 360's biggest user base is the states and ps3 and the wii's user base is japan leaving us brits as nothing more then small fry to the big 3 companys hence the reason we are normally the last to recieve the goods
I must be very very lucky 'cause i have only experienced the barrage of abuse that everyone says fills Live about 2/3 times, the very first night I got it and launch weekends for Halo 3 and COD4.
Whenever im online theres usually about 8-15 friends online as well and find it very easy to hook up a good game.
There are plenty of good gamers who regulary play on Live and its pretty easy to find them as well.
Americans killed XBL for me. Just sick of american teenagers screaming "I OWNED you you fooking ******!". I know that i could just turn the volume down, but that defeats the object of voice chat in games.
Its obviously just some of the games that you guys play on XBL that is giving so many people grief, i really only play Team Fortress 2 and GTAIV online and have NEVER had any verbal abuse from anybody and iv had XBL for like 9 months now.
EDIT: i also do play Halo3 and other games occasionally
I see where people are coming from, I think live is a worthwhile service, my clan on 360 has euro and american members but when you play against other people it enevitabley turns into name calling at least once every 3-4 games from the other team. The problem is it's impossible to monitor and while I dont want to tar americans with the same brush it seems like 80% or abuse would be from that continent!
And there's nothing worse than getting thrown into a room with people that can't speak your lingo in a team game like CoD4.
Americans killed XBL for me. Just sick of american teenagers screaming "I OWNED you you fooking ******!". I know that i could just turn the volume down, but that defeats the object of voice chat in games.
Yeah lol i remember that one - every American White sounding kid calling everyone *****! So f**kingig funny!
Americans killed XBL for me. Just sick of american teenagers screaming "I OWNED you you fooking *****r!". I know that i could just turn the volume down, but that defeats the object of voice chat in games.

To be honest the worst experience that I had was from a group of racist northerners!
The Americans amuse me with thier riddiculousness, especially the ones that moan a lot and have a go at you for being rubbish (maybe that's just me!)
Despite the rudeness of some of the Yanks (northeners) I do prefer Live to the sterile experience of PSN - they really need to start bundling headsets with PS3s to make more of a community
I've been playing on Live for 1.5 years and only had issues a handful of times, so the problem regarding american kids is grossly exaggerated.
It does seem to be worse on certain games, also if you stay away from the ranked games and choose player games instead it tends to be a less aggressive room. Did i overuse the word 'games' to describe certain games.....oops sorry im at it again

Well you can mute the tw@ts, but to be honest i only use voice chat when im playing with a group of friends...you do have friends..right?

I can't say I agree. I've come across a lot of Italians, French and Spanish gamers on PSN. Germans, Japanese and Hong Kong folk too... Oh and Americans and us British too of course. Based on the gentleman's comments, it sounds as though the PSN community is far more diverse and wide reaching. Perhaps because it is free?
Hey people, for those that dont know, you can mute anyone on live!in any game,at any time: just bring up their gamer profile, using recent player list or the ingame scoreboard or whatever and at the botom there is a mute option on thier gamercard.Any screaming or crap jokes even and its instant banhammer for my ears sake.
And there's nothing worse than getting thrown into a room with people that can't speak your lingo in a team game like CoD4.
Make an effort to educate yourself in foreign languages. You'll find it is far more fulfilling than playing solely on XBL with Americans, especially when you hear the French talking about said Americans.

I think it also depends on the game, I've met a lot more Germans, French Italians and Spanish on GRID than I have in R6v BF:BC and many other games combined.
From Europe and not a brit. And I gotta say, the only reason I dont have Live is because they charge for it. Its just mind-achingly stupid to pay for something I SHOULD get free.
Yes, yes, Live has better friend options than the PSN but I dont care about those. I care about playing online, and MS charges me for that. Like hell.... when they make it free, you can count me in.
Based on the gentleman's comments, it sounds as though the PSN community is far more diverse and wide reaching. Perhaps because it is free?
Speaking of which, it is interesting to hear about how many XBL subscribers there are at any given time. Without a subscription model in place, Sony only report on the number of PSN downloads that have been purchased.
Even though there are (allegedly) still more XBox 360's in homes than PS3's, it is completely conceivable that there are more gamers playing online on the PSN than on XBL, purely because it is a free gaming service and there are no barriers to enjoying it other than having a broadband connection. That is, unless someone can prove otherwise?
As people have said above, it's more about the game than the network when it comes to the quality of players you meet online.
If you're going to dive into some no-brained kiddie-friendly fraggathon, you're going to meet no-brained kiddie tosspots whichever system you're playing on.

Absolutely. I think you can pretty much guess how a game will be (in terms of community, the type of people it will attract online) before you even buy it - I remember discussing the various online modes that were coming in GTA4 and, though we all seemed excited about them; the general consensus was to stick with your friends list.
I think you've also got to remember that you get these types on any platform too. I certainly remember WoW taking a lot of criticism over the community there, certainly in it's early days - I can personally remember all the idiots that ended up in City of Villains boasting about how they'd been banned from WoW for their stupid behaviour.....I also remember heading back to City of Heroes for some peace and quiet shortly afterwards - I waited until the idiots got bored and moved on.
As people have said above, it's more about the game than the network when it comes to the quality of players you meet online.

The interesting point there is that most of the no-brained kiddie's you mention are mostly located in America and are on XBox 360. The RRoD will claim them soon enough.
It is clear that adult gamers enjoy more serious racing on GT5 as opposed to the offensive flower power paint schemes of Forza 2.
Speaking of which, expect friends lists, lobbies, in game custom soundtracks, voice chat and trophies on GT5 in the next couple of months.

You definately get different nationalities playing different games - one of the only places that I come accross Japanese gamers are on big japanese games like Lost Planet and Virtua Fighter - Maybe a few euro developed games might help...

I must say that I quite enjoy hooking up Mario-Kart online just to see the various countries that the people are from - it's pretty cool to see people from Europe, Asia and the US all playing against each other.
Having said that - it's not exactly accurate there, the system seems to think that my girlfriend and I are from Germany.....must be something to do with the ISP
The problem of stupid americans ruining xbox live may be overexaggerated but it only takes one bad experience to put someone off for good. If that bad experience happens during a free trial then you clearly aren't going to sign up and pay for gold.
Added to that, the reputation of xbox live (as being full of stupid kids) has put off several people I know from even trying it.
Don't get me wrong, I've had some really great games on xbox live but my gaming time is limited and I can't afford to waste it having racist abuse shouted at me by an illiterate 12 year old.
As people have said above, it's more about the game than the network when it comes to the quality of players you meet online.

No. Just no. From the fanboy wars we've seen on these forums over and over, it's obvious that while both systems have their fair share of muppets, Playstation 3 owners are far less mature and more argumentative when it comes to socializing with other people, while on the whole, (with a couple of notable exceptions I won't name) The Xbox 360 owners on these forums seem to be a little older, and a lot less likely to resort to using insults and fabrications in place of reasoned discussion.
I guess that's what you get when you've got a cross-section of "Gamers" who make choices based on brand-loyalty rather than the actual games...
Love the fact that you quote yourself. No wonder your a fan of Sony.
Just making the context of my statement clear for those still-born brained 360 owners who choose to read the CVG forums.
Thank you so much. I have now seen the error of my ways. I will shortly be trading my 360 in and be buying a PS3 so I can join you and Suivaloom on the PSN.
I cant think of anything worse, people go on about Live and the morons that are on it well if this forum gives me a glimpse into the PSN and whose on it you can keep it, ill stick to the crazy Yanks.

Same, I'm not willing to pay for something which Sony and Nintendo offer free, an online service. True Xbox Live is the best online service, but I'm still not willing to pay for it.
Its interesting hearing that most of the quarter of European Xbox Live users are British. Seems like language differences are a problem for the online market. I can understand though, I wouldn't want to be playing with other people who mostly speak another language I can't understand.
As people have said above, it's more about the game than the network when it comes to the quality of players you meet online.

Your comments seem wholeheartedly unfair based on the clear fact that these forums are extremely XBox 360 biased. It only takes one Suivaloom, or that other chap who got banned to come on here and unsettle the crowd of XBox 360 gamers living in fear over:-
(a) Whether their console will get the RRoD. (b) Whether their DVD drive will crunch one time too many and break. (c) Whether their DVD's will get scratched. (d) Whether the 360 + paid for XBL service will be made redundant by the PS3 + PSN / Wii + VC/WiiWare - or otherwise get killed off early by Microsoft.
These points may occasionally be highlighted as a joke, but its clear that one set of console owners take great offense to it - and that's XBox 360 owners... XBox 360 forum members such as XBob and tonyb continue to make racist, homophobic and crude remarks about other people with absolutely no refrain based on the fact that other owners may have a PS3 or Wii. I'll cite you that thread about AIDS several days ago just as an example.
Completely unwarranted and all based on the fears of this forums general populace.
If you don't like sitting uncomfortably on the 360, get off it, but there is no need for such crude remarks. Note that I am **NOT** aiming this last sentence at you Sunscramble, but there are others.
I gave up on LIVE when it ran out ages ago on my Xbox360. I got bored of 10-16 year old yanks on GTA4 being racist to me for being English and at everyone else for not being American. It was near impossible to get a friendly game going at one point.
Message to the stupid yanks (smart ones can ignore this but I know no yanks use this site but I'll say it anyway!): Yes we like tea, yes we like crumpets. It wasn't funny the first time and it isn't funny on the 1,893,297th time you say it! It like everyone else saying you yanks eat too many burgers!
Love the fact that you quote yourself. No wonder your a fan of Sony.

Then you may understand me if I say that when you pitch me a fast ball, I'll hit it out of the park! I'm quite happy to debate games, movies, downloads or technology with 360 owners. I'm also quite happy to give as good as I get.
I have 3 friends who have 360's and broadband but dont have XBL. Its not language or price or anything thats stopping them, but just the fact they couldnt be bottomd setting it up.

And what if there are Italians, Germans and spanish in the game also? You might want to fulfil your life by learning all that but i'll pass thanks!
not really a surprise that 'live's european uptake isn't as much as the states, there's many more 360's sold over there.
i've also had to put up with a few plebs in my time on 'live but i find nothing shuts them up quite like putting their virtual heads all over a wall with a well placed pistol shot. to be fair, the yanks are more competitive on 'live and the games are usually quite intense,i like it.
most english/europeans play with their slippers on and the horlicks flowing after a mogodon chaser and then cry when they get their bottoms handed to them.
just beat the yanks a few times and you'll have their grudging respect even though you're a 'f*cking limy f*ck' etc...

Come now, you're clutching at straws. Xbox360 owners don't "live in fear", on the whole they seem extremely satisfied by their consoles, and usually quite smug with it that they're enjoying the superior gaming experience of this generation of consoles.
What gets people unsettled is that the insecure PS3 fanboys will come in here and spout a bunch of something that comes between outright lies and wishful fantasy on their parts, which is something that you yourself as are guilty as than any Suivaloom/Voodoo341, Dodgy1 or SBolton.
The reason these flamewars happen is because most sensible people get offended when they see people posting such outrageous lies, and they reply simply to keep the balance and preserve the truth. It's simple human nature.

I speak several languages and being able to tolerate and communicate with people in various other cultures is fulfilling and interesting.
Perhaps learning the relevant phrases that you might use often could indeed prove beneficial and make a game more rewarding then?
I've also never experienced the asshat abuse that people talk about on Live. I'm Scottish though, so I don't know if that accent helps me seem cooler But I've seen the English and the Americans sort of poke fun, but it never got to the nasty stage.
I'm quite shocked though. I'd have thought enough Europeans spoke English well enough that they wouldn't have any issues with most of the service.

Are you having a laugh? Everytime I write something positive about the PS3 (bearing in mind that I am 35 years old seasoned gamer) I always seem to get descended upon by obnoxious 360 fanboys. They are everywhere. The only PS3 fanboys are the most obvious ones like Suivaloom. The 360 fanboys are just a little more cunning in their swipes, pretending to be clever, when in fact, they are just as stupid as Suivaloom.

I don't need to clutch at straws. Anything I point out is based on my own knowledge of other people's statements and fact. As I said, I do like to have a joke or two every now and again, but for you to state that it is all lies and wishful fantasy really is clutching at straws.
All of the points a - c that I made have been proven. Point d is something that 360 owners clearly do fear, hence the continuing barrage of posts willing Microsoft to make XBL free in the hope the 360 user base might start to grow again! In the meantime the PS3 eats away at the PS3 - 360 sales gap.
I like how you decided to only highlight a section of my post and ignore the rest. Perhaps you find the truth a little more painful than you'd wish to admit.
Not really surprising reading, fact is that Europe is years behind the states & the japs when it comes to broad-band/internet infa-structure so you'd expect they'd have a larger community base. I imagine Sony would have similar figures showing extensive useage in Japan.
The main problem i have with any internet service is simply that what you pay for isn't what you actually get & it's fecking scandalous. It's like buying a big-mac and opening the box to find a solitary chicken mcnugget. 8mb etc speeds etc my @rse, all we pay for is GB usage.

Perhaps learning the relevant phrases that you might use often could indeed prove beneficial and make a game more rewarding then?
I applaude the fact that you can actually speak various dialect and im not doubt sure it would help you play games like CoD4 and probably better the experience for all intended. But for me gaming isn't about sitting down with a phrase book in one hand and controller in the other when im trying to play a game. My opinion is that it takes away the pick up and play appeal which is why I love gaming so much, if I had to do that on top of the fact i've already got a busy enough life as it is i'd probably not bother and get a new hobby!
I prefer playing on American servers against Americans for MMO's on me PC. I'm also from the UK. For me they came across as far more mature than Europeans (UK included).
Live I can't comment on though as I don't have it (I too am against paying for something that should be free).
So im supposed to learn a different language to play a computer game now am I? I dont remember learning in my french class to say 'hold this position i'm going to plant the bomb'? And what if there are Italians, Germans and spanish in the game also? You might want to fulfil your life by learning all that but i'll pass thanks!

I don't believe I ever said that you had to use voice chat?
Nonetheless, some things in life are more fulfilling than - as you put it - telling someone to lay a bomb, or beating some end of level guardian!
I would like to apologize for the little racist twits on XBL...they in no way represent American's as a whole ><
Most of them are stupid little white kids who have learned about anonymity and want to act like jackasses while their parents are in the other room not being good parents.
What exactly is your problem? This is a thread about the geography of the XBL userbase not a thread for you to wheel out the same old tired and blinkered anti 360 spiel. Don't you have a school project to get on with?
Anyway, I have a Gold membership for live but have been put off by the stories of racism and abusive behaviour. Please can someone confirm that (as alluded to earlier in this thread) you can go "deaf & dumb" if it gets too much?

Yes you can.
I've been playing LIVE since the original Xbox days & whilst it is true, as with any service, that every so often you come across some pleb who thinks it makes them hard to swear at you down a telephone line (not sure i understand the logic myself) it is the vast bulk of the time an impeccable service... and once yo get a good friends list it's top notch. Anyway if they do swear at you simply: mute them, report them, & then own them using your superior intellect!
Perhaps you find the truth a little more painful than you'd wish to admit.
i take it this is one of your 'i like to joke' posts?
i own a 360 and it is still my first one. i dont live in fear of it breaking as anything can breakdown at any point so why bother worrying about it?
the 360 has large enough sales already to sustain itself and has a better games library and better games on the way imo, so maybe you are insecure that the PS3 hasn't met expectations yet? maybe you are worried the 360 is hurting the PS3?
why do you want the 360 to fail? surely there is room for MS, nintendo and sony in the market?

Your Point 'D' isn't even a point. I think you'll find that the majority of them would be a lot happier if they didn't have to pay for XBox Live anymore. I know I would. As for the service as a whole, that would mean that Xbox live subscribers double overnight... Hardly a killing blow for the machine.
The fact that you're even trying to claim that Xbox owners are worried about not having to pay for Live anymore is gobsmacking...
A - C were a few easy snipes at Xbox reliability problems, and the single remaining arrow in the quiver of the PS3 fanboy. Of course, as Suivaloom's Xbox fanboy alt. cleverly pointed out, The PS3 is not without it's own technical faults. A quick google reveals many forums full of displeased PS3 owners with useless hardware.
The widespread failure of the Bluray lasers is becoming a better known issue everyday, and it appears that just like with the PS2, Sony aren't even taking steps to rectify their faulty hardware, unlike Microsoft, who have been desperately trying to make up for their own rushed and botched designs.
As a personal observation, I was originally planning to buy my own PS3 somewhere between this Christmas and next spring, depending on rumours of price cuts and new exclusives, but after their showing at E3, I really don't see any point. Maybe 2010 will be the "Year of the PS3". I mean, 2007, was promised to be the "Year of the PS3", but that never happened. 2008 was the next "Year of the PS3", but barring MGS4 that's not looking too likely. I don't see anything too appealing about 2009 from what I saw at E3, either.
let's face it there are good and bad people everywhere. I had had on numerous occasions American kids spouting off a load of drivel but then also met some good american players. it does depend on the game though. any FPS is likely to feature a load of American kids going off on one where as something like Tiger Woods you'll get older more mature American's who are a pleasure to play against.
I often play PGR4 online and have to say I do prefer playing against UK players, it seems easier to agree on stuff for the race, car types etc, but it's good when europeans come online too, most of whom I've found to be a good laugh.
Overall thought XBL is a great service and I am happy to pay my £40/year for it. I have not tried PSN so can't comment on that. It would be useful if Sony packed in a headset though I reckon.
I personally think that the reason most people don't play online is because they're forced to search globally for available matches. I've played games where US players can't understand a word I'm saying just because I'm from England. I'd much rather play with gamers from my own country purely because it aids communication. I think a standard "by country" search filter would be an excellent solution.
Furthermore, the pervasive racism and explicit language that seems to dominate certain games online is disgusting, and really has put me off some games altogether. There needs to be a much more simple way of reporting these idiots and MS need to be far more effective in removing them from Live permanently.
Incidentally, I'm not saying that it is solely American users that are at fault here (because that would be quite ironic given my sentiments), but I'm not surprised that European gamers aren't up for playing against a bunch ignorant fools who probably don't even know where Europe is on a map, let alone their respective member state.
Perhaps if European gamers weren't all lumped together in the same marketing strategy MS would see an improvement. There may be economic and geographical ties between European countries, but each is unique in their culture and tastes, so they should be treated as such.
To be honest I find it hilarious when some 8 year-old American starts spouting some racist, homophobic and other insulting remarks. If you just use surreal, ironic, sarcastic or self-deprecating humour then they get all confused. It amuses me no end.
Interesting. I been a user of XBL for over 4 years now (since 2004) and its a great service and worth the money i pay for it. I agree with the general opinion of playing Americans that just swear all the time is annoying, but theres always mute (or if friends in the room arguing with them, its fun to listen) as i don't get involved. But that can apply to any person, not just Americans. Im happy with XBL overall

agreed.
i don't know about the ps3/laser problem so i won't comment on that but: my launch 360 'red-ringed' a few weeks back. ms had it picked it up by DHL the next day, fully repaired,a free month on live as an apology, another 3 year warranty which will (probably) see me past the consoles expire date AND got it back to me in 10 days.
i really was impressed. true they should've had the machine up to scratch at launch but at least they put it right.
that's a good way to make up for botched hardware design.
so, LordPS3, LordVonPS3 & LordVonPS3ii are the same person?
how come he/she changes the username?
What I wanted to know is whether they're one of the paid marketing shills that Sony have wandering around these forums pretending to overexcited PS3 fans, or just a volunteer?
I have 3 friends who have 360's and broadband but dont have XBL. Its not language or price or anything thats stopping them, but just the fact they couldnt be bottomd setting it up.

When my PS3 bricked on a Wednesday...I phoned Sony on the night and got a new PS3 delivered by Friday. If i phones in the morning it would have been next day. Sure, Sony only replace, not repair, which is a bitch-but it's a 1 or 2 day delivery for the PS3 exchange. Just means data has to be backed up unfortunately.
Microsoft need that repair service because at a time (before the Elite) wasn't the failure rate close to 30%? I have very rarely heard of the PS3 breaking really-very few instances in comparison to the Xbox. Only "mass" break was in the 2.40 Firmware Update where mine also bricked....
As for the XboxLive topic-Sony and Xbox have sold the same amount in Europe I think-thereabout. For Xbox you have to pay, for PS3 you don't. Europe have maybe just chose the PS3 for online gaming because it is free, regardless of the better service Xbox offers.
The rest of your post was directly aimed a couple of other people who I don't care either way about, so I cut it off as irrelevant.
I'm deeply hurt SunScramble about my lack of relevance in your life, surely kindred Xbox spirits?
As for you RashVonPS3...look you know you made a f**ked-up decision in buying that shiny, black piece of crap and for some reason feel the need to unburden your soul on 360 threads to somehow make you feel better.
Bottom line is you made a s**t choice and bought an over-priced Blu-Ray player, live with it and give the rest of us some peace ffs!
Man give it up!!.... Jes, i bet when your out with people (i wont say friends) i bet you shoe horn in PS3 statistic into any conversation!, i bet its like, "mate check out that birds t1ts at the bar!" "yer but she's not as sexy as my blu-ray playing PS3 that has free online gaming & a motion controller!!!?" even you must be boring yourself by now??, cause i know i'm f**king bored of reading it ever 360 thread...
Worst experience on live would have to be playing on Halo 3 and accidently team killed some yank. He didnt like that and started mouthing off about how he was going to come round to my house and knife me and the usual crap.
Slid off me like water off a ducks back, just muted the guy (after teasing him for a bit), but if i'd been some wee kid I would have been s**t scared!
Well said!
(Appluase) thats it! revolution! I HAVE A PS3 AND I LOVE IT!!!! it has GREAT exculsive games, a sweet online service, a nice new trophies system and LOADS of additional content on the way as well as TONS of ultra sweet games coming soon.
whew, i said it.
just got a Wii and loving that to, but my PS3 is still the main console, i got it all! woooooooooooooooooo! ^_^
seriously tho, the XBL has more features true but the PSN is more friendly i find, and more diverse in terms of ethnicity. and now with ingame XMB i can tell gun-turrent twonks that they suck in COD4!!
I got bored with Xbox live within weeks. I ended up getting a 17 kill streak on Call of Duty 4, which is rather amazing when I get absolute s**te in Counter Strike Source.

it all boils down to what your friends have.
LordVonPS3 & Mark would reply but there are "busy"...ohh get a room..
Depends what country your in. German/Nordics have very quick speeds and Germany monthly charges are about €10 (8 pounds).

@ Supersonic395, Pishers, Sunscramble. I do indeed own a Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii this generation. I would have thought that my avatar and handle would have made that obvious, but maybe you need to look again a little closer.
I believe that the Wii may sell more units than other consoles (not hand helds) over the next year or two, due to it's positioning and price point. The Wii is a good console, reliable and it delivers what it means to, although I don't consider it a high-spec games console. Microsoft are going to try and steal the Wii market and in doing so will only lose ground faster to both the Wii and PS3.
Message to all: If you want a low-end fun and enjoyable gaming experience, buy a Wii. If you want a high-end powerful multimedia games machine, buy a PS3. The XBox 360 attempts to do both and does neither.
@ Sunscramble. You're right, the PlayStation 3 is not for you. You are too impatient to be able to cope with delayed releases and as an owner, you would be nothing but a destructive influence on other PlayStation 3 owners.
I would like to think that if you did purchase a PS3, you and I may see eye to eye for a change and dare I say it, maybe we would even be able to have a reasonable positive conversation. However, I cannot imagine any of this ever being the case for you seem to have lost your way by pinning all your hopes on the 360. Speaking of which, I'm not sure I've seen you openly praising and being excited for any 360 game. You just like to be cynical and negative about everything and everybody, that's your loss.
If you indeed were considering a PS3 purchase as you claim, then why the constant PS3 put downs? Don't bother to use my question as an excuse to justify another barrage of PS3 hate! Perhaps you could use the time instead to think about why you are being so negative towards what is a reliable console (I completely reject your citation of extensive blu-ray faults). The software, whether XMB or games, is improving cycle by cycle thanks to developer's better understanding of the hardware. I know you'll only refute all of which I've just said, which is why I asked the question I did, though I'm glad you came to the decision you did.

I should probably take this opportunity to mention that I'm a PC/DS/Retro fanboy, if anything. The fact that you don't see me gushing over the X360 or it's games is because I'm not, contrary to the claims of certain fanboy, (singular) an X360 fanboy.
The MS console's alright, but it's online service is rubbish and overpriced, and the nuggets of paid DLC they tend to cut out of games to try and sell you later offends me in a way that very little else does.
Truth be told, I'm still using my PS2 and my Gamecube(Wii+Wavebird, actually) for most of my console joy, as the quality of their games p**ses all over anything you can get on the current generation, with a few notable exceptions that have already been bought and finished long, long ago.

My head is perfectly stuck on its neck. You must have gotten your tiny balls stuck in your 360's CD drive.

XBL "is rubbish and overpriced"...? I see...
Can you explain exactly why you think so though? If so, maybe I'll reconsider some of the remarks made.
Not to be curt, but it does seem to me that you may not be getting that much more fun out of your 360. Microsoft is targeting the 360 at the Wii / mass market. I think we both know that seriously - it has no chance of beating Nintendo on that ground. No chance, and like me - you already own a Wii.
I can't say I really know what games you like (other than Wizball) or otherwise I might be able to suggest PS3 titles, but then as I said, I don't think the PS3 is the console for you, because it requires some patience. Sony seem to be rather quiet right now, but there's a lot of work being done behind the scenes. There will be announcements though at some coming key dates. Sony has some surprises.
Truth be told, I'm still using my PS2 and my Gamecube(Wii+Wavebird, actually) for most of my console joy,
I am waiting on a GC - DS2 adapter to arrive. I also have the classic controller for VC. Sneaky N.
For all the anti-Sony hatred that is here, it is nothing next to the long standing hate my friend feels. He was developing at Sega right up to the minute the Dreamcast 'fell' to Sony (and no doubt you also know what happened to Sega!). Needless to say I was a DC owner, not PS2, so that hit hard (at the time), but I am not bitter and boy how things really can change (if you allow yourself to be open enough to it)...
as the quality of their games p**ses all over anything you can get on the current generation, with a few notable exceptions that have already been bought and finished long, long ago.
Again with the negativity... My take on your views is that you want to see some promises fulfilled and you want a better idea of what is going on behind the scenes and you're frustrated with the lack of communication about new games (bar the oft repeated ones).
Well, pretty much everything 3rd party on 360 is also on PS3. PS3 has its own exclusives and they're original. The PS3 has big announcements & releases coming in 2008, but also strong plans for 2009 as well. That isn't to say Sony can reveal them, so why I repeat that patience is a requirement.
with all this fanboy ranting and raving and shouting and name calling and bxxxxing and moaning and harassing others what i want to know is, when there's a knock at my door why do the dog always think its for him????
Americans killed XBL for me. Just sick of american teenagers screaming "I OWNED you you fooking ******!". I know that i could just turn the volume down, but that defeats the object of voice chat in games.
Funny I've had a few dodgy experiences but all have been with Germans and Brits... Such as Grid (prepatch) join a room full of germans and get kicked for having the Union Jack as my flag (I understand basic german and they have all been hateful on that game) other than that I mainly play with yanks and my brother.
It varys with each person but the main thing that digs me about this guy is maybe Europe has better standards? maybe many europeans won't pay for a service when we get treated as the underdogs. I know I've been treated by MS customer service before as 3rd class...They talk to me like Shat treat me like a complete baloon....
But you know what? I say f*ck it from now on when i have to call MS customer support if they talk to me like that I just scream at them then order them to get supervisors and it scares them into shutting up lol (I'm an ass)
In view of your claims, Voodoo341/Suivaloom, I'd like to call attention to this thread, and your posts within it.
Yes, we stopped taking you seriously a little while back, didn't we?
just another example of this guys mad claims and rants. It's a shame because sometimes be makes some good points but when the medication wears off he reverts to his fanboy state and makes a more wild claims. A complete tosser who should know better.

Really now. It's all there in that thread I linked. Utter incontrovertible evidence of how wound up you got when somebody accused Sony's MAG trailer of being pre-rendered... When it was. (Halfway down the interview with Sony's Worldwide game development studios President, the following exchange: "VB: The quality of the cinematic was very good. Is that what we should expect? SY: Thank you. Yes, that is what the final game should look like."
And your utterly priceless Fanboy reaction to being repeatedly confronted with the truth.
You shouldn't keep so many alternate accounts on the go, your various personalities are starting to get confused and show up in each other's posts.
And how quickly you resort to personal insults.
If there's one thing you should have learned during our various exchanges, Voodoo, it's that if you drop into one of these threads with the single purpose of popping off a quick insult in my direction, you're going to get repeatedly humiliated.
You should suck it up like a man, learn your lesson, and move on. Unless you're some sort of masochist, and you're into that sort of thing, in which case I'll always be happy to oblige.

I don't understand your post.
If I was in the position of choosing my next console, and could only afford one of them over the next five years, maybe, maybe we could debate on the differences between the two machines and their eventual fortunes, and find pros and cons for both boxes.
As somebody who already owns one of them, and is willing to go out and buy another on a whim whenever I feel like it, though, I can't see any good reason to justify buying the other right now.
I make my hardware purchasing choices based on the current qualities of the consoles, not some untapped possibilities that nobody knows about that one of them may be harbouring, pending future secret announcements .
It's all very well saying "Buy the console now, but then be patient", but that seems more than a little foolish when I could just hold onto my cash and wait to buy the PS3 when I know it's going to get more than a run-through or two of MGS4 then get ignored for another 12 months.
XBox Live "is rubbish and overpriced" because it's not free when it should be, and because compared to the average PC online experience, it's.... Rubbish. With any luck, in the face of PSN being free, MS might be forced into an embarrassing about-face.
As for the fate of the poor Dreamcast... Well, I bought a PS2, and didn't get a Dreamcast until long past the point when it became clear that the machine was not much longer for the production line.

I am not saying 'buy the console now but be patient'. I am saying *you* should not buy a PS3, even if you have the disposable funds.
There is a lot more to play on the PS3 than MGS4 and there's a lot of variety in the PS3 exclusives (and otherwise completely original PSN games). Normally I would tell someone with a PS3 to try game x or game y, for example, I could say PixelJunk Monsters - is a horribly addictive and a fantastic game, plus it is extremely cheap to buy from PSN. I know it appeals to this retro gamer who has been playing games for decades. I could also say something like Fl0w is very original, though it sort of feels a bit like DC Echo in some ways, but is more of a relaxing game that I might play for half hour - to the next 'checkpoint' before going off to do something else.
It's true that you'll have to wait for some of the other big titles like Pacific Drift, Valkyria Chronicles, Little Big Planet and Killzone 2 (N.B. I am trying to show the variety), but I don't know if any of these games appeal to you anyway & considering your lack of patience, I couldn't recommend any console at all to you this gen, not even the Wii.

Again, I'm not patient because I won't buy a console for games that don't exist on it? You can try and make out that I don't love the PS3 because I am personally flawed in some way, but it's clear to everybody including Sony themselves that their handling of the PS3 has been flawed, especially in the first two years of it's life.
I'm pleased to see that I made the fanboy list in your sig, by the way. It's incredibly revealing that not being a PS3 fanboy automatically makes you an X360 fanboy in the eyes of a lot of people around here...
...Even if you slag off both consoles for their various faults and are a self-proclaimed PC fanboy...
And coming from somebody who chooses to represent themselves on this forum as LordPS3, Anybody who so much as pops in is going to see you for what you are.
Your puerile attempts to rally the PS3 fanboys against certain people on these boards is pathetic in every way imaginable, and again presents the sort of fanboy psychology we're dealing with here, which, while worrying evident among owners of all gaming systems, seems particularly concentrated among Sony fans.
And you never answered my question. Are you one of those marketers who are actually paid by Sony to boost their presence on public gaming forums by pretending to be overzealous fans, or are you just a volunteer shill?

Ah, back to the negatives again I see. Well SunScramble, I think I made it clear 2 or 3 posts ago, the PS3's launch was less than stunning, ergo your comment here isn't warranted. I'd say things have improved significantly in 2008 and the second half of 2008 will show a dramatic improvement on the first half.
You're not a patient person. If none of the consoles this gen have enough titles for you, then really you should own all the consoles and fill your time with the games available on each, or no consoles at all and stick to PC related threads. Of course, that doesn't make any sense to you at all... Why? You're a XBox 360 fanboy.
I'm pleased to see that I made the fanboy list in your sig, by the way. It's incredibly revealing that not being a PS3 fanboy automatically makes you an X360 fanboy in the eyes of a lot of people around here...
You ARE a XBox 360 fanboy.
...Even if you slag off both consoles for their various faults and are a self-proclaimed PC fanboy... And coming from somebody who chooses to represent themselves on this forum as LordPS3, Anybody who so much as pops in is going to see you for what you are.
It is LordVonPS3ii for good reason. That doesn't mean I don't ever say anything negative about the PS3 or Sony, or the Wii. However I prefer to focus on the positives, not the negatives. You know next to nothing regarding the hardware I've owned & enjoyed through the years and I don't really care if you want to paint me as being a Sony employee this gen.
Your puerile attempts to rally the PS3 fanboys against certain people on these boards is pathetic in every way imaginable, and again presents the sort of fanboy psychology we're dealing with here, which, while worrying evident among owners of all gaming systems, seems particularly concentrated among Sony fans.
You are worse. You have nothing good to say about anything this gen. In fact, I'm not sure you have anything good to say at all. You're a negative creep. That's all you ever look to do - criticize consoles and criticize people. The fact you lack enthusiasm for your own preferred 360, shows your sad devotion to a worthless cause.
What a horrible person you must be. You shouldn't own any console this generation.
And you never answered my question. Are you one of those marketers who are actually paid by Sony to boost their presence on public gaming forums by pretending to be overzealous fans, or are you just a volunteer shill?
That's right, I never answered your question and frankly, while you continue to play the negative a$$hole, I have no good reason to answer any of your questions. I enjoy talking to people who are excited about the hardware and the games. That isn't you.
There are other 360 fanboys on this site like _Marty_ for example, but at least he knows how to have fun with it, even if he does get bogged down in some of the slagging matches on here (but then don't we all).
I find you to be a negative creep. Your only saving grace is that you're not the nasty piece of work like some of the other 360 fanboys on here, but there's no mistaking that you're still a 360 fanboy and not a nice one at that.
No, you find find me to be a negative creep because you come onto these forums trying to desperately convince everybody that the PS3 is the second coming of Christ, using a combination of half-truths, outright lies and other methods of trying to create general confusion, and I thwart your hard work every single time.
It's no wonder you get so frustrated with me, but before you go back to the personal attacks, you should sit down have have a long think about why it is I win every single argument, and why you get more and more cranky with each post:
It's because you are arguing from a very weak position, and you have very little logic and very few hard facts to back you up.
Oh, I admire the way that you cleverly slip your ad hominem attacks subtly into your posts, (I'm "impatient"?) and the way that you seem so enthusiastic about many of these great things that don't actually exist in any shape or form, but without any real substance to back it up, you have nothing of any value to say.
Nothing of value, that is, except to fall back on the pathetic old fanboy standard of claiming that somebody else is a fanboy...
Look, LordVonPS3, you're a fanboy, if not the ultimate fanboy around these parts. Everything you say on these forums is put down with the single purpose of either bigging up the PS3, or shouting down and attacking anybody who dares to criticize your beloved box, whether it is deserved or not. Everybody knows it. A stranger wandering into the forums for the first and last need need only look at your username, and he'll know everything he needs to know about you.
I, on the other hand, am not a Fanboy. I'm famously not a fanboy, and everybody except you PS3 fanboys knows it. Hell, I think you even know it too, which is why you so delight in trying to label me a Fanboy, as with me being not loyal to any brand or company, I'm the biggest threat to you fanboys on here.
I'm a gamer, pure and simple, who will buy every system and generally do whatever it takes to play the games I fancy playing at any time. Even in this very thread you can see plenty of evidence to support that. A neutral gamer who makes his choices based purely on what games he can play...
Seriously, you'd lost that particular argument even before you'd put your first post down.
If you're going to come in here trying to desperately promote the PS3, you need to be a lot more balanced and fair about it, or you're going to attract people like me like moths to a candle. You know why? I'll give you this one for free.
I love correcting people. It's not a great characteristic, but I'm one of those people who will always correct a person when they make a mistake. If I know that they're deliberately obscuring the truth, well then I'll work twice as hard to make sure they don't get away with it.
I also love these debates on forums like CvG. They're one of the greatest games you play, that mixture of rhetoric and knowledge. It's the true MMO for the politically inclined
That's why I really look forward to you inevitably turning up in these threads. You provide plenty of entertainment, and because I know your style, and I know that you're debating from a particularly weak point, so I can join in safe in the knowledge that I've already won this particular little game.
Now, you don't have to answer that question if you don't want to, but the question's out there. It's been asked, and now there is suspicion.
If that works to your advantage, then I don't begrudge you not answering. The fact that the question has been asked is enough.
Well, given that this thread seems to be over, allow me the killing blow:
Firstly, you repeatedly accuse me of being an Xbox fanboy.
However, even in this very thread, we see that you cannot make up your mind about even that. Several times you've accused me of being "cynical and negative" about the Xbox 360, which must be a fanboy first, right?
No, it's because you're using the word as a baseless attack, even though when you do so you openly contradict yourself.
In the very finest example of modern l337:
pwnt
Secondly, let's examine the cause of this latest disagreement. Yes, for the last two pages at least, we've been debating about whether the PS3 is right for me. I'm not making any other wild claims, it's just about, of all things, just when I'm going to buy my own PS3. (Not if, when.)
This is about my opinion of what I want to be playing.
I hate to break it to you, but that's not even an argument you could have won. You couldn't accept that I didn't feel the need to buy a PS3 as well as owning an Xbox 360 at this point in time, and the toys came right out of that pram.
Again, in the finest tradition of polite debate:
pwnt
Thirdly, I'm arguing with somebody called "LordVonPS3ii"...
Actually, that's a little bit embarrassing.
Oh well, you can't win 'em all.
Still, I shall enjoy linking back to this very thread on some occasion in the near future, I'm sure.
dear dear.. looks like someone has spat the dummy out.
a collection of fanboy rants from SunScramble!
Oh come now, a collection of fanboys rants? No, I was simply getting one up on yet another fanboy. I love pwning fanboys, it's easy pickings.
You're just bitter because I gave your fanboy behind the same treatment the other day in this thread here.
And you'll get as good as, or better, every time you pop into a thread to try and insult me. You love it, though, don't you, which is why you keep coming back over and over...
Besides, LordVonPS3 here has already done me the favour of conclusively proving that I'm not a fanboy. Remind me to thank him again sometime.
Seriously, you should have read what I posted before stopping in to show your fanboy credentials. If you'd have just taken in what I'd said up there, you wouldn't wind up being just another poor maggot on the chopping block of SunScramble.
Well, given that this thread seems to be over, allow me the killing blow:
Do not mistake a couple of hours of silence for an end. Believe it or not, I do have a job to do and strictly speaking - writing on here is not it. I also prefer to play the occasional game against friends online and rest assured that while I'm doing that, I am not thinking about you and your 360 fanboy ilk.
No, you find find me to be a negative creep because you come onto these forums trying to desperately convince everybody that the PS3 is the second coming of Christ, using a combination of half-truths, o<snip>
On the contrary, I find you to be negative because that is exactly how you present yourself - especially when it comes to the PlayStation 3. In addition the Wii is a damn fine piece of kit, even if I do say so myself - and you don't... ever... seem to. QED.
As for your attempt at some rolling thunder, I don't ever recall saying I believe Christ existed. My 60GB PS3 (now 320GB) is the most powerful console either of us has ever owned and it has more features than any other console produced to-date.
Only a PC lets me do more, but even then - at a higher price and would require tinkering to keep it quiet, connect it to my TV, etc. I can watch DVD's, Blu-ray's, streamed media from my PC, streamed media from YouTube & the web. I can attach a USB drive and play back media too. As for the games, well, I have PS1 games, PS2 games, PS3 BD games and PSN games. Games, games, games... All that - running on a single shiny black box and all you can do is say bad things about it? You're crazy as a loon!
Many of the disparaging comments on CVG about the PS3 are FAR too harsh and I feel there is a very large imbalance in terms of how many people seem to be pro-360 against the PS3. I know the PS3 had its problems and a shaky start, but things are better now. It seems not only can you not see that it is a good machine, but you seem to be doing all you can to bully anyone on the forum who claims to like the console or make any positive statements about it.
Look, LordVonPS3, you're a fanboy, if not the ultimate fanboy around these parts. <snip>
Well, thanks...? You see, again - you lose. I really don't mind being called a PS3 fanboy! Is it too clever for you, or do you not think it actually *IS* intentional, despite the fact that I've only made slight variations to my handle several times... For someone who seems vaguely intelligent and has a reasonable command of the English language, you can be pretty thick.
I, on the other hand, am not a Fanboy. I'm famously not a fanboy, and everybody except you PS3 fanboys knows it. <snip><paste> me being not loyal to any brand or company, I'm the biggest threat to you fanboys on here.
Well, it seems you never have anything good to say about anything or anyone. You certainly never show any enthusiasm for anything PS3 related. Even whilst claiming not to be a fanboy you make belittling comments about ***PS3*** fanboys - which is in itself a bit fanboyish!
If you're going to come in here trying to <snip> promote the PS3, you need to be a lot more balanced and fair about it, <snip>
No... No, I don't.
I love correcting people. It's not a great characteristic, but I'm one of those people who will always correct a person when they make a mistake.<snip>
Well, maybe you should consider becoming a school teacher.
Nothing you've said here actually makes any difference to me personally. I doubt many people read your posts because they're largely wordy and the 360 fanboy contingent of the CVG forums aren't generally intelligent enough to understand.
I also love these debates on forums like CvG. They're one of the greatest games you play, that mixture of rhetoric and knowledge. It's the true MMO for the politically inclined
Hmm. Boring. I love some of the old classic games like Galaga & dig dug. You know, the sort of thing that is being charged for on XBLA when Namco are going to give them away on the PS3's "Home" arcade machines. It is pretty sad how so many people on CVG forums say they don't care about "Home" when it is not really about social networking - but about gaming and gamers. Still, I suppose, as people are being made to wait for it, they just don't really know or understand what is happening behind the scenes.
That's why I really look forward to you inevitably turning up in these threads. You provide plenty of entertainment, and because I know your style, and I know that you're debating from a particularly weak point, so I can join in safe in the knowledge that I've already won this particular little game.

I didn't know that you actually looked forward to me turning up on this forum. That's quite pathetic... As for suspicions and advantages, what do you think this is, the MI5?
You should write less and consider it damage limitation.
However, even in this very thread, we see that you cannot make up your mind about even that. Several times you've accused me of being "cynical and negative" about the Xbox 360, which must be a fanboy first, right?
No, it's because you're using the word as a baseless attack, even though when you do so you openly contradict yourself.

Pfffft. In your dreams sleepy. I didn't say that at all. I said : " The fact you lack enthusiasm for your own preferred 360, shows your sad devotion to a worthless cause."
I guess even 360 fanboys can lose faith sometimes though. Microsoft's new direction for the 360 is a hedge bet and I don't think as many people are going to bite as they hope. Every woman I know is saying 'Nintendo'. Kids are saying 'Nintendo'. Old men are saying 'Nintendo'. Hell, even I just picked up a Wii... It is fair to say that most people's experience of Microsoft is with Windows and I also think it is fair to say that a lot of people have had bad experiences with it. I just don't see Microsoft taking Nintendo's market share.
Anyway, I suppose, being the infinitely flexible person that I am, I've decided to cut you a break and not call you a fanboy anymore. You are too disparaging and uncomplimentary about everything. I find your opinion of the PS3 is about as balanced as a fat, one legged prostitute, walking the plank off a pirate ship whilst carrying five buckets of shark bait. You... Scramble of Sun are a PS3 "Hateboy".
Secondly, let's examine the cause of this latest disagreement. Yes, for the last two pages at least, we've been debating about whether the PS3 is right for me. I'm not making any other wild claims, it's just about, of all things, just when I'm going to buy my own PS3. (Not if, when.) <snip> <paste> pwnt
When, not if?
Well, you're absolutely right of course, I cannot stop you buying one, but it is probably best you don't...
You've said so much negative stuff about the PS3 already that for you to pay Sony to own one would be nothing but a humiliating, hypocritical climb down. You best keep it quiet.
You know what, 1337 speak just sounds pretty damn silly, I'm not going to do that today.
The PS3 will do just fine without the 360 fanboys. I don't think I'm going to end up disappointed with my Wii and PS3, whereas I think 360 fanboys are going to find out what Microsoft is all about and I don't think they're going to like being screwed over for every cent. The biggest mistake people seem to make is buying into them in the first place, but hey, I can understand how naive or people who don't know MS - would do that. Microsoft does have some compelling software.
Anyway, I know that since Sony turned the PS3 round, it is working really hard to listen and give people more of what they want for their money. All in all, Sony has the best attitude for me and is headed in the right direction with the PS3.
Come on, this thread is already over. Read on, and I shall explain why.
I'm pleased to see that you've "decided to cut (me) a break and not call (me) a fanboy anymore", though.
Apology accepted.
Seeing as a lot of the rest of your thread is aimed at X360 fanboys, it's not really my place to reply to it.
And yes, everybody is saying 'Nintendo' these days, including me. I've owned every home console they've ever sold, and my Wii gets just as much usage as my X360. If your defensiveness about the PS3 wasn't so inherently anti-Microsoft in it's nature, you could have just as easily called me a Nintendo fanboy, but that's not how PS3 fanboys roll is it? Criticise the PS3? Automatic X360 fanboy...
Which brings us to...
Actually, you'll find it's the other way around. A quick glance through any thread on these parts will reveal that it's not me who tries to "seem to be doing all you can to bully anyone on the forum who claims to like the console or make any positive statements about it."
The reason I get so damn vocal when the subject comes up that that a tiny vocal minority of PS3 owners are always here to bully anyone on the forum who dares to criticise the console or make any even vaguely negative statements about it, and they always, always jump in with very quick accusations that some is obviously a... Yep, you guessed it, a X360 fanboy.
Which, looking through this very thread, where I dared state that I didn't want to buy a PS3 for myself yet you can see that this has happened all over again!
You simply couldn't accept that I don't want a PS3 at this point in time, and you've been on the attack ever since. I barely even said a bad word about the console, constantly stating that my buying one is inevitable, but that wasn't good enough for you. I had to buy one now, or I was an Xbox fanboy... Or wasn't, depending at which part of the thread you're reading.
Yes, the evidence is already there, and a re-reading this thread will confirm it. You can post as many times as you like, LordVon, but each post you put down can only dig you even deeper, and give everybody even more confirmation that I'm right.
That is why this thread is already over.
This thread about Xbox Live's fortunes, or lack thereof, in Europe, of all things.
the oldest fanboy in town just got his ass kicked... lmao well done Lord.
Seriously, I've said it over and over.
Read the threads before commenting, you'll come off as less of a douche.
The oldest fanboy in town did just get his ass kicked, though.
Yes, the poor guy who's had to back-peddle seriously from calling me a fanboy, and has simply settled for calling me a hateful person who always tries to put down the PS3 and it's owners.
The guy who's sig is:
Sony for the EPIC win! The RRoD sucks. Calling me a PS3 / Wii fanboy is no insult! PS3++ The CVG PS3 'hateboy' list: SunScramble. The CVG 360 'fanboy' filth list: hollywood111, Tonyb, MrXBot, headspin, analandy, ParmaViolet.
Seriously, pick your battles, guys, this is getting silly now.
Well, the thread's over but what the hey. Just want to say SunScramble that I too have no desire whatsoever to buy a ps3 yet. It's almost utterly pointless for me to buy one as I already have a 360. Sure it does other stuff, but I'm not interested in it- when I buy consoles I buy them for the games! Not that there aren't any games on the PS3 worth playing of course- but the only exclusives that interest me are Uncharted and (maybe) MGS4. Other than that, the big black lump of a console would just be used as a door-stop.
It would seem the PS3 fanboys are constantly looking to the future... I sincerely hope it's not a disappointing one though, hopefully LBP will be cool and killzone 2 won't turn out to be the blurry, generic mess it seems to be becoming.
I'll get a PS3 when it's worth buying one- heck at some point I may even get a Wii (And I can't stand Nintendo and most of their franchises- though I own a Gamecube), for now I'm happy with my 360/Xbox/PS2/GC/DC bundle, thanks. If that makes me a Xbox fanboy, so be it.
lol the oldest fanboy in town needs back up from the local idiot.
And where, may I ask, did that come from? Boohoo, I don't own the same console as you! Why, what a terrible person I am! Grow up and don't be a silly little runt now, eh? Good lad.
well for two guys that don't even own a PS3 you spend a lot of time and effort passing stupid, silly half thought out comments on it.
Or maybe you're in fact the same person? After all Sunscramble spends a lot of time ranting about other people having more than one ID and he's probably sad enough to do it himself.
well for two guys that don't even own a PS3 you spend a lot of time and effort passing stupid, silly half thought out comments on it.
So here you are, in here to back up #1 Fanboy, in a thread about the Xbox 360's online service...
Or maybe you're in fact the same person? After all Sunscramble spends a lot of time ranting about other people having more than one ID and he's probably sad enough to do it himself.
lmao.. what a tosser
...and you're still bitter at me because I caught you out for your Suivaloom antics. Yes, I clearly recall the first thing you doing as Suivaloom was also ranting at me and accusing everybody else who disagreed with you of being one of my alternate accounts. It's like you're not even bothering to try and hide it anymore.
Really, it's hilarious to see that since then you've stopped even bothering to post comments related to the actual news stories, and that you've now sunk to just stopping into these threads to do nothing but throw weak personal insults in my direction.
Please never change, Voodoo341, I'm beginning to really appreciate having you around here. You're like the random chubby girl in a group of plain girls on a night out, who's clearly been invited to make the rest of them look so much better...
Now I'm going to have two sets of links to stick in my posts everytime you shoot your mouth off around these parts.
well for two guys that don't even own a PS3 you spend a lot of time and effort passing stupid, silly half thought out comments on it.

lmao.. what a tosser
Not really- I may throw in something if I think an arguement is a bit one sided, but I have bugger all alligience to any console, be it Sony, MS or Nintendo. I Was always a Sega fanboy myself... then I grew up, realised that fanboys are really quite sad, got a girlfriend and well, stopped being a minion of a company that really doesn't care. What have I really said about the PS3? What's really upset you so much you have to throw a hissy fit? Do you need attention or is it because I don't think it's necessary to purchase a PS3 simply because I have a 360? Does it hurt that much? Geez, sorry man!
Oh what the hell, c'mere, you've converted me! I now want to go around praising sony for... just about no reason whatsoever! Man, I've seen the light, phew! Thanks to these Sony tinted glasses...
And no- I'm not Sunscramble- just stating that I have a similar (ish) view as him... much like you have a similar view to many other of the mindless Sony followers. Get a grip... or get a life... both are good.
Well that is wrong for starters. Let me direct you here > http://www.computerandvideogames.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=76115
A perfect example. I hadn't even reached the forum yet, let alone posted and already we have XBox 360 fanboy-filth defending their console against... Against what exactly...?
1.) Defending the 360 against the very company who makes it - Microsoft. 2.) Defending the console against the very micro-transactions the 360 is itself imposing. 3.) Defending the 360 against PS3 fanboys, even though neutrals, PC owners and Wii fanboys could be justified in reading the article and having a good old chuckle.
For you - hateboy - to claim it is a tiny majority of PS3 owners bullying people is bullsh1t of the greatest magnitude. Wipe your glasses so you can see the truth.
Yes, the poor guy who's had to back-peddle seriously from calling me a fanboy, and has simply settled for calling me a hateful person who always tries to put down the PS3 and it's owners. Backpeddle? No, you are either joking or misunderstanding me... You ARE a hater and there's frankly no need for such negativity towards the PS3. In all fairness, the line between a 360-fanboy and a PS3-hateboy is pretty thin and the camps are not exclusive. Making a pro-exclusive transition between the camps is perfectly conceivable.
All of the people on my 360-fanboy-filth list are also haters although I grant they're far more derogatory in the defense of the 360. Don't dare consider my statement an apology - there is no way I would apologize to you for *your* attitude. If anything you should be apologizing to the PS3 contingent on the CVG forums for hating far too much and that leads me on perfectly to the next point.
Of course I accept you don't want a PS3 at this point in time. For you to say I cannot accept that is just another pathetic attempt to justify your argumentative nonsense. I said: Don't buy a PS3 - and I did not put any time frame on that. Buying one would be humiliating for you based on all the PS3 hate you document. Even if you bought a PS3, you'd still most likely spout hate about it, so really - why bother? Everyone who owns a PS3 has heard it for some time, but now - thanks to Sony's attitude things really have improved (and will continue to), so we've all moved on.
As far as I am concerned, one lost sale to a negative creep is better than a sale gained.
If you ignore me and do buy one, you should look to repair the damage you have tried to inflict with an apology, then focus on writing good things about the PlayStation 3 and that's why you're buying. Look for and promote friendship, change your attitude... Maybe then I will let you off. Until then, you stay on the list - hateboy.
Oh no, I'm on "The List" on one of the most visible fanboys on a forum with what even he calls a "a very large imbalance in terms of how many people seem to be pro-360 against the PS3"...
Please, give it up already, you're not helping your case. Nobody listens to a damn thing you say anyway, and your tears of righteous indignation do nothing but sustain me in my unbridled smugness.
Everything that needs to said said has been said already, and as I've already stated, this thread has long been over.
I'm afraid you lost your case quite a few posts up. There is no damage limitation to be had for you.

That's right - you're on the list hateboy! Make the most of it or otherwise try to convince everyone that it isn't true. Your offering may please the Gods!
Just remember that in future, if someone calls you a XBox 360 fanboy, don't come running to me or start citing my posts... Apparently no-one listens to a damn thing I say and I certainly won't help you either - hateboy.
I will take consolation from the fact that even though you now state that no-one gives a damn what I say, you always look forward to my posts.

you're very quick at sticking people on a list yourself... but then you're always right are you not?
I Was always a Sega fanboy myself... then I grew up, realised that fanboys are really quite sad, got a girlfriend and well, stopped being a minion of a company that really doesn't care.
that would be really funny if it wasn't so totally sad!

I'm glad somebody finally noticed... /flex

Yes, maybe you should follow his example.
Although, ironically, my own girlfriend delights in linking this picture to me whenever she sees me posting on the CvG forums.
