The official spec sheet for Crysis Warhead, which launches next month, has been released. See if your PC can match it.
Crytek has made a song and dance about how the expansion will cater for more players' systems: "We designed Warhead to be more accessible. It is a game with a story that can stand on its own, it has been optimized to run better on a wider range of PCs, and we are introducing Crysis Wars, a tailor-made experience for multiplayer gamers within the Crysis universe."
Here's what you need to be packing inside your tower of power:
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (3.2 GHz for Vista), Intel Core 2.0 GHz (2.2 GHz for Vista), AMD Athlon 2800+ (3200+ for Vista) or better
RAM: 1GB (1.5GB on Windows Vista)
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 GT, ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (Radeon X800 Pro for Vista) or better
VRAM: 256MB of Graphics Memory
Storage: 15GB
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c Compatible
ODD: DVD-ROM
OS: Microsoft Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or Microsoft Vista
DirectX: DX9.0c or DX10
And just in case you were wondering, Crysis Warhead is a standalone release and does not require the original Crysis to play. Everyone's a winner, except console kids.
hopefully the reviews will give an idea of how it runs but those look like min specs. they should make it clearer though as to what settings those relate to.
i am worried about the game though as it has been turned out very quickly, so unless it is short what is the quality going to be like?
Well I would hazard a guess at dual core CPU 2gig ram for xp 4 for vista and an 8800 or ati equivalent with at least 512 ram.
Doubt that, ive that for Crysis and with the FPS fluctuations and on high it feels horrible( i.e. hangs around 33FPS most of the time )
Well as I said it was a guess, I could never play the first one on my rig anyway. Strange when the demo ran very nice but the full game just crashed constantly.
I am on bottom spec though amd64 3500 1 gig ram and x850 and XP.

It ran fine for me on all high + a few on very high with those specs, except in the harbour bit where I have to put everything down to medium - which is annoying.
The question is - how well will it play at those specifications (frame-rate), at what resolution and with what level of graphics detail?
Well, my computer exceeds most of those specifications or at least meets them...
My computer meets and passes the specs on original Crysis but I still couldn't play it properly... I'ma skip this game as I did Crysis as it's really a game all about the graphics Max Payne style (Lets face it, Max Payne had a great story but the gameplay was all guts 'n graphics I miss that game lol)

As I've said in a previous post on another thread, the engine's already built, the models and textures can be reused (seeing as this is happening on the same island), new ones can be made if needed. It's just the time to put it together. And being that it's a stand alone expansion I'm not going to expect something of Crysis' length (although Crysis was UBER short anyhows).
/IDIOTIC STATEMENT TIME ON If Crysis ran on your machine before (not just you, anybody) and this expansion has truly been optimized then my guess is this'll run even better. /IDIOTIC STATEMENT TIME OFF

good in theory but look at valve and their episodes, it is taking them ages but then their games are better. also, plenty of console sequels re-use tech but the games still take 2 years to make at least.

to answer my own question, it appears that it will retail for around Ł15 so is definitely in the expansion category. it is also developed by a different company although on permission of crytek (presumably while they do crysis 2).
judging by an earlier preview it is supposed to run well with high settings on a 2.66ghz core2duo, 2 gb ram and an 8800gt.

Cool, that's what I've got(e6750/8800gt) and Crysis runs silky smooth at all high settings(1440x900), so this should run on very high settings no problem.

Its not developed by a different company as such, but by Cryteks Budapest studio - its still essentially Crytek which we should be thankful for - or not depending on which way you swing.
