SEGA Europe Ltd. and SEGA of America, Inc. today announced The House of the Dead: OVERKILL, an all-new pulp-horror reinvention of the classic SEGA light-gun shooter franchise. Created by London-based studio Headstrong Games, The House of the Dead: OVERKILL will take you right back to the beginning of this classic horror series. Available exclusively on the Nintendo Wii early in 2009 and announced to coincide with Games Convention at Leipzig, The House of the Dead: OVERKILL will be presented live by developer Headstrong Games for specially invited members of the press in SEGA's business centre suite.
The House of the Dead: OVERKILL uncovers the ugly, terrifying, red hot secrets behind the House of the Dead; the daddy of all over-the-top shooters. While staying true to the classic gameplay this hugely successful SEGA series is getting a new retro look, with distinctive graphics, sound and attitude that will add to its horror cool status. Plus, thanks to the Wii Remote, players will fight off zombies when they get too close; pistol-whipping jaws off and smashing in skulls with their shotgun butt.
"We wanted to do something really different with The House of the Dead: OVERKILL," commented Bradley Crooks, Studio Head at Headstrong Games. "With SEGA we've been able to create a fresh look for the franchise. I think you'll agree it's like nothing you've seen before on Wii."
"Paying homage to the pulp horror comics and films that inspired generations of gore fans, The House of the Dead: OVERKILL will expose gamers to a brand-new fleshy rollercoaster ride of revolting dismemberment," commented Gary Knight, European Marketing Director at SEGA Europe. "This is the hardcore Wii title you've been waiting for."
The House of the Dead: OVERKILL takes you back to when Special Agent G was fresh out of the academy. Teamed up with hard-boiled bad-ass Detective Washington, they are sent to investigate stories of mysterious disappearances in small-town Louisiana. Little do they know what blood-soaked mutant depravity awaits them in the streets and swamps of Bayou City...
The House of the Dead: OVERKILL will be released in early 2009, exclusively for Nintendo Wii. For more information about the game, please visit www.houseofthedeadoverkill.com.
I still "need a patch for this news report, stat."
That, in plain English, means that the news editor should attempt to correct some of his writing before deleting my comments which were jokingly and without a trace of ill will suggesting the same thing...
Seriously, what gives? Now readers can't point out mistakes without getting their comments deleted? That's not showing the will to improve but it's a sure way to p**s off long time readers and continue making the same mistakes (if you don't correct yourself, you'll repeat it down the line). It's not like I tried to make anybody look bad, it was a mere suggestion without pointing fingers, until now that is.
I would have expected just a "thanks, it's been edited" response or no response at all, not an attempt to hide it without correcting even the most glaring issue. At the very least, add the word "see" as it should be seen in the "Go take a look and you'll why" sentence I have quoted for you to see here as you can hopefully see, see?

I thought you'd deleted it yourself, it's out of order if it wasn't a mistake.
Well, I guess I can before someone else replies. But I didn't
I guess it might be a mistake but I find it unlikely considering I rarely see any posts deleted around these parts, even the most intense flame wars go on undisturbed as long as the swear filter isn't bypassed by idiots.

Agreed, I've had comments deleted recently (see 'Censorship on CVG' post in the Off-Topic forum.
It takes the p**s - if the writer happens to be incompetent enough to allow their article to be uploaded complete with glaring spelling mistakes, then they should at least have the decency to allow any comments regarding the poor quality.
I'm getting slightly annoyed about this - not the poor quality (I can live with that - just) - but the fact that comments and in some cases whole comment boards have been deleted.
My advice to those writers at fault? If you're ashamed of your spelling mistakes, go back and take your English GCSEs - don't bloody delete comments pointing them out.
I wonder how they came up with this idea? Do you think they looked at RE: Umbrella Chronicles and thought, hey why don't we do that with our HotD series!?!
Looks quite good, at least it isn't another port... and it's another lightgun game to please all those who bought the Wii Zapper!
Never played Mario Galaxy? Use of bump and mormal maps is evident throughout that game. Even dewy's adventure uses it if I recall correctly... And of course Conduit.

it was sarcasm.
i know the wii can do these kind of techniques i'm just not used to seeing them on a wii title too often, then again your point is a pretty damning one on the state of wii development:
how many wii games are available at retail?
100 odd?
how many games actually use the more advanced features of the wii chipset?
3? 4?
the death star attack level in rogue leader threw more mapping effects in the intro than 95% of wii games have to date. while eternal darkness out-bump mapped virtually the entire wii library.
these are both 'cube games.
as a wii owner this annoys me simply because i know the machine can do so much more than has been shown yet.
oh yeah, speaking of the conduit: http://uk.wii.ign.com/articles/900/900088p1.html i wonder if nintendo are going to publish it? i'd rather ea simply because i think there'd be more chance of 32 players online with ea nation than on nintendos wfc.
I don't have sound on my pc at work but the trailer looked heavily influenced by Gringhouseeath Proof/Planet Terror. I need to get more use out of my Zapper!
