EA is looking to steal a slice of the juicy tennis pie. A genre he'll know a lot about from his days spent at Virtua Tennis dev Sega (before he moved to Microsoft).
At EA's Leipzig conference Peter Moore has announced the firm's entry into the tennis genre with a new game leading on Wii that'll take advantage of Wii MotionPlus.
Little more was revealed other than the fact that the game is due for release in 2009, also on other formats. It looks to be simply called Tennis. Maybe it'll get a '10' or '2010' by launch?
"As we look to expand the EA Sports brand and captivate sports fans from around the world with rich new interactive experiences, it was obvious that the renaissance we're seeing in the sport of tennis provides us with a big opportunity," said Peter Moore, president of EA Sports.
"Our new tennis franchise, coming first to the Wii, will put fans right into the action and provide the excitement, tension and drama that true champions feel in legendary matches - like the classic from Wimbledon just last month."
The prospect of a true 1:1 motion tennis game is exciting!
Allowing you to actually place shots with angle, direction and power, serve in true real-time motion, add slice, top spin, slam high balls etc.
If they can do all this and pretty much replicate the real game, plus through in decent online modes, Singles & Doubles Exhibitions, Tournaments, Seeding Tables, World Rankings, they would have the ultimate tennis game. EA will probably get the ATP licence too so look out for 'ATP TENNIS 2010'
I'm sure Tiger Woods 2010 will also make use of the WiiMotion Plus next year too.

An ambitious tennis game on the wii, from EA no less?
