Rockstar brings Max Payne home?

Remedy too busy with Alan Wake to work on Max Payne 3 says rumour
The latest issue of EGM is rumouring that Rockstar's personally handling coding honours on what would eventually turn out to be Max Payne 3.

Apparently, original Max Payne dev, Remedy Entertainment, is up to its eyeballs with Alan Wake (and don't we know it). So much so that there's no time to work on another game named after another bloke.

EGM says the "noir shooter will be handled by the same internal Rockstar team that created The Warriors".

Above that though the mag also drops word that Rockstar is still hard at work on its unannounced PlayStation 3 exclusive. You'd hope so, wouldn't you?

Remember that quote from Sony that said "Rockstar really wanted to make a game that you can truly only do on PS3, harnessing the power of CELL and Blu-ray disc and this deal lets them do just that"? Well the publication goes as far as to say that the GTA IV team is handling this one.

More on Rockstar's unannounced PS3 exclusive here.

Too many if’s, buts and maybe’s in this if you ask me. 2+2 = 22 according to this.

Id love to see a new Max Payne and the PS3 exclusive sounds very interesting too, but ill wait for details, not rumors before I get excited!!

I may be in the minority here, but from what i cam remember about the Max Payne games, they're not worth bothering about at all!
Bullet time originator maybe but from memory the game was a bit pants.

Take that back, or I'll dive slowly backwards through a door and shoot you slowly in the cojones!

Could care less about the PS3 game but MP3 is news meaty enough to stick in a bun!

I may be in the minority...

yeah, definately in the minority.

I just hope if they are making it then Remedy will at least have some creative input to make sure it's up to standard.

A new MP game would be awesome, although just like Bungie no longer being involved in the new Halo project (alledgedley) I dont know if that is a good thing.

Just like Halo, Max Payne is a revered franchise that has to be treated correctly.

Still, new Max Payne is better than no Max Payne.

I wonder if Mark Wahlberg will be used for the model of Payne and the graphic-novel parts.

Then f***ing the consoles for their "exclusive"! Every PC games now is gone far beyond the PC's border and doesn't come back. So sad about it... Sad

That guy called Nate from 6ft under (Peter Krause?) was the perfect dead ringer for Max Payne!

come to think of it... I was at a Rockstar party about 2 weeks ago, and at it they played a montage video of all the games they worked on. And Max Payne was in it. Seemed strange at the time as Rockstar never worked on any of the Max Payne games, but now I see why it's there.

I only finished Max Payne 2, couldn't get into the first one at the time, but the 2nd was awesome. Bring on a third!
Typheous on 27 Aug '08
I hope it is Max Payne 3. I loved 1 & 2 and I just want more.
CrippledHooba on 28 Aug '08
It might sound odd, but I was kinda annoyed the PS3 Rockstar game being developed by the GTA IV team...it was the most disappointing GTA yet. Glad to hear The Warriors dev team are working on Max Payne 3 anyway. Is the second one worth getting (PS2 version)? It's just I thought I remembered it getting duff reviews at the time. Confused

AARGH! Go read a book. Watch a movie. See a musical.

But please don't play games if you can't recognize greatness!! ShockedShockedShocked

And for the love of videogames; a PS3 exclusive for Max Payne is very, very, very bad news.

In fact, it couldn't get worse.

A Rockstar version of Max Payne sounds so exiting it deserves to be MULTIFORMAT. Playable for consoles or PC or any other device we could think of.

MP3 is one of those titles which should not cause a fanboy 'my console is better than yours' debate. I'm getting a little tired from this console war these days; great games deserve to be available to everyone. GTA IV leads the pack.

(For the record; I own all three big consoles and have a killer PC)
