Resistance 2 gets US date

Special Edition version announced, UK date still just November
Resistance 2 will be released in US on November 4, Sony has confirmed, along with the announcement of a Special Edition version.

The special edition version, priced at $79.99 (around £45), will include an art box, and action figure and a bonus DVD crammed with footage. A more detailed list can be seen below.

The flagship PS3 title will clash head-on with Microsoft's big shooter, Gears of War 2, which goes on sale three days later on November 7.

The current official word on a UK release is November, although we expect Sony to nail down an exact day any time now.

Special Edition bonus content:

  • Created by DC Unlimited, an exclusive Chimeran Hybrid action figure with Bullseye weapon.
  • A double-sided hard-cover Resistance 2 art book covering war-torn
    America from two unique perspectives.
  • Exclusive in-game HVAP Wraith multiplayer weapon skin
  • Copy of Resistance 2 with special edition cover artwork selected by the fans

Plus a bonus DVD of exclusive Resistance 2 additional contents including:

  • A preview into the upcoming Resistance novel, "Resistance: The
Gathering Storm" by well-known science fiction author William Dietz.
  • "America Forever Lost", Behind The Scenes video of Resistance 2 with Insomniac Games
  • "Shattered History" Resistance chronology video -- provides a visual guideline from the earliest days of the Chimera invasion to the current storyline.
  • Digital copy of Issue #0 of the Resistance comic book series published by Wildstorm.

If you didn't like the first why did you think the 2nd would be any different? Rolling Eyes

I'm looking forward to this myself I loved the first not the most ground breaking FPS but it was nice to play.

I still don't understand why certain people don't like the first games.

It played well, easy to aim, it just felt right. Also I still think the graphics are rather good. Split screen co-op was the icing on the cake, loads of fun.

So obviously this is my number 1 game before next year, then of course comes the fascists with the scary orange goggles.
'Suppresive fire'!

Yes I know I should try something original, LBP after the aforementioned perhaps?

I hated the first one, i mean really hated it. However this one looks much better, if they release the version with the statue over here i will buy it.

It's great to be able to look forward to both RFOM2 and Gears2, without having to resort to childish twaddle. Both games look brilliant and I don't favour one over the other at the mo. RFOM2 online should be massive fun, as the first RFOM still stands as my favourite online shooter - yes even more so than COD4 - just because it made me smile. I am also looking forward to playing Gears new Horde mode, which also looks like a lot of fun.

Personally I couldn't give two hoots if people hate the look of RFOM2 - I'll be too busy having good times to care. Or should I say good, good times?

I liked Gears but prefered RFOM, looking forward to both sequels but RFOM 2 gets top billing (until I actually play both and decide for myself properly).

This is looking quite good i must admit.

Unfortunately i found the original game a bit average to say the least.
I hope the single player mode isn't just a prettier version of the original(boring english woman droning on at the end of each stage etc).

This'll probably be at its best in multiplayer mode.
I look forward to seeing what reviews it gets.

just asking from curiosity, what's the statue for?
Aphexman on 3 Sep '08
Looking forward to this - loved the first (probably because the weapons were a hark back to more inventive times on the PC, such as Blood, Painkiller and Serious Sam etc.)

Bought it twice - once on import, one PAL release.

I'm a little moist with both this and Gears2 around the corner.
kricca on 3 Sep '08
RFOM 2 looks far better than the first, it was a launch PS3 game but now the devs have really got to grips with PS3 I think this will be a corker of a game, liking the 8 man campaign idea, just hope it works well.

Gears2 will also be ace BTW!

how do you know this, it isnt out yet and hasnt been reviewed? i dont expect this to be any worse than the first but i always like to be cautious so the let down if it happens isn't so bad.

is anybody else worried that this has been turned out in a fairly short space of time from the 1st? how many other games have debuted on one of the new consoles and is due a sequel so soon? chances are it will be more of the same but if you liked the first then great, if it is better than that then everybody is happy. i reckon gears 2 will be the same, good but not great.
pishers on 3 Sep '08
I liked the 1st game, but I did get bored after a while, proberly because it was the only PS3 game I had for about a month until I got another game and really started to get a collection going (at the time, I couldnt be bothered with my PS2, PSP and PC games as my PS3 was new and I was stuck to it). I got the game again about last December/Januaray as a mate got it and we were playing it online together, but I only played it like 3-4 times since I got it again. I got nothing against Resistance, I am looking forward to Resistance 2, but I think the problem I have with the 1st game was just I have over used it due to lack of other games, now I have quite a few others, I think that Resistance 2 wont get boring so quickly to me.

Statue from the collectors edition, it looks really good. I just like it and that would seal the deal.

Lets face it, this game isn't gonna have much Resistance this puts up, its gonna be crushed by Gears 2 as a game and then p**sed on by the sales of gears to add injury.Good thing it'sc oming out 1st, cause once gears 2 hits, it will be lost in the sea of GOW2 stuff on both sides of the atlantic.
