Oasis man Noel Gallagher has been speaking to MusicRadar about his upcoming album and he touched upon the Guitar Hero phenomenon, giving us the best quote of the week.
Speaking about Guitar Hero he said, "If it puts little plastic guitars into kids' hands and fires their imaginations, I think that's a good thing. It's harmless fun, innit."
Then he said, "I'd rather that genre of videogames than somebody getting their f***ing head chopped off with a samurai sword while getting f****d by a goblin up the arse with a laser. Do you know what I mean?"
Not really Noel. Well, kind of but we don't know what games you've been playing. We'll ask him next time we walk past him in the street or he's in the pub up the road from the office (true story).
Gallagher has previously said games desensitise kids from crime: "People say it's through violent video games and I guess that's got something to do with it. If kids are sitting up all night smoking super skunk and they become so desensitised to crime because they're playing these video games, it's really, really scary."
I want him to suffer for making people think that being stupid is cool. The goblin or one of the super skunk smoking, desensitised to crime kids visiting him would be nice.

Gamers tend to spend most of their time at home or at a mates house,online, chatting with friends away from the idiots who cause damage on the streets and the good reps of young people ruining it for all of us. ive smoked high grade weed everyday for 14 years and played some of the most violent games around and watched hundreds of horror flicks and ive never felt the need to go out and hurt people or cause mayhem. i dont get paranoid nor am i schizophrenic. im a just an average chilled out peaceful kinda guy who loves gaming and who thinks noel gallagher should quit while he's behind.

No that is not what I meant at all, and Oasis, though obviously infulenced by, are nothing like the Beatles (except the shameful All Around The World) as the Beatles were much better writers and composers of songs.
Reznor claimed to be quite a fan of Definately Maybe and proceeding works in a Rolling Stone interview some time ago, I also heard him say it on stage a few years back at Glastonbury, though I may have imahined that having been wrecked.
Lars Ulrich is definately and Oasis fan though.
Anyway, my point was that though it is very easy to knock Oasis, you cannot argue that one of their albums was a masterpiece, and though not all of them are up to a high standard they're (note correct word Steve W) all containing at least one classic song. Well if you're into that style of music anyway.

No, that's what racists do. I just hate a band that, at least in their early days, endorsed aggressive behavior and talked like thugs. A band that talk with the presumed authority of the worlds greatest musicians, but who are loved only in one country and then only by a loyal, yet not expanding fanbase.

A band that talk with the presumed authority of the worlds greatest musicians, but who are loved only in one country and then only by a loyal, yet not expanding fanbase.
Actually what you did was take your hate and then use it to form a stereotype which you then threw in the face of a fan of that band, and your stereotypical view on Oasis fans was formed through your prejudice against the band.
Hating the band is all very fine, musical taste is expressive and everyone is entitled to their opinions, though it’s pretty reprehensible when you attempt to pigeon hole all fans of a bands music into one very ill informed view.
What you did would be exactly the same as If I were to say everyone on gaming forums is a bespectacled geek who was bullied at school and has probably only touched the breast of a woman when they were milk fed by their mothers. Hate the band fine, don’t hate the fans!

I've never really been a big fan of oasis. I'm not going to insult the man's intelligence, mainly because it would be impossible to do so cos for something to be insulted it has to...well...existed.
But i do agree with the previous comment about Gamers not bein involved in crime. It's absolutely true. Most gamers keep to themselves or with other gamers. We're not all socialites and we're certainly not criminals. Well at least I hope not.
Well, I don't really see this as being a big deal - he's basically just saying that it's better that little kids are playing stuff like GH rather than violent games. He's not complaining about people playing games or anything, just that it's a good thing they're taking an interest in music, etc.
