Microsoft Game Studios boss Phil Spencer has hinted that the firm could extend 360 titles to Apple's iPhone when the time is right.
Spencer told OXM that the iPhone version of last week's big PC release, Spore, is "a good example" of how cross-platform gameplay would work.
"We've done things like the pub games in Fable, which aren't cross platform but it's playing an arcade game, building currency that works for you in the Fable game. You could imagine doing that from another device as well."
While we could easily imagine something like that there's no indication on when we might see something like this happen. Viva Pińata could work we reckon, allowing you to tend to a few gardening issues away from the main game.
"It's thinking about the right opportunity. Where it makes sense is more important than just proving that it can be done."

This sounds a lot like the stuff BG said about in the MS Live keynote a couple of years back where they demonstrated how you might be able to tune a Forza 2 car on your Windows Mobile. I was stupid enough to buy a smartphone for this very purpose, only to find this was only an example of what could be achieved. Better late than never, eh?
I've not seen any bugs in it yet. There are some creature creator glitches, but I can't see them going nuts to patch that - and people have used those glitches to their own advantage.
And let's be honest, if the Wii can run it then a hard drive is not the issue. I rather suspect it's the UI and editing process that is the problem. And the potential market.
But I'd like to be able to cross-platform play on DS, even if it was just a smaller scope version. Maybe if you could import your creatures and power them up in Tribal stage to give you some kind of advantage when you went back to the PC version. That'd be cool.
An Iphone is terrible for playing games on. Excellent Mp3 player, average phone but s**te interface for games. Even Tetris on it is a pain in the neck.
Jesus cant no one see its another Dreamcast spin off! Anyone remember the VMU's? Hell even the cast was the first console to play online and have internet access on!

Pretty sure they mentioned this in the actual press conference at the time...
Does anyone know if Spore is coming to the 360?
No chance!
Only Wii
I believe PS3 is the best machine for Spore because of HHD.
Spore on PC is horribly buggy and needs million of patches.
No it isn't - perhaps you're mistaking Spore for Stalker?

Nope, at least not very clearly anyway. It was an interview with the chap from Turn 10 sometime afterwards where he stressed that this was an example and not something that would necessarily be implemented into Forza 2.

They kept saying what the service is CAPABLE of etc... while showing the example. Always struck me as a proof of concept and never really got my hopes up about it, not as much as to buy a smart phone anyway
"Viva Pińata could work we reckon" - Well Rare were going to implement 360/DS cross compatibility but didn't have time in the end which is why they ended up using the Vision Camera instead. Shame.
