Ubisoft has slapped a date on its Clancy RTS Endwar, which will be out on Xbox 360 and PS3 in Europe on November 7.
The voice recognition-powered console game was said to be landing sometime next month, but it looks like its arriving in time to take on Gears of War 2 and (probably) Resistance 2 instead, which are out on the same day.
There's a multiplayer "VIP" demo of the game coming next month, for all those eager chaps who pre-order the 360 version from Game Station (No PS3 demo though).
You can checkout the latest trailer from Leipzig via this 'ere link. It's looking improved - let's hope those voice controls work.
Doesn't matter how good this game ends up being, it wont even stand up to gow2 and r2. Not a chance of success, shame cuz it actually looks impressive.
It's a totally different style of game, so a lot of it's potential market won't be interested in the other two.
That said, it is sounding like a pretty generic RTS title. I really enjoyed GRAW2, but this sudden move into every genre they can think of seems a little silly.
Besides, I don't think anything else is going to sell for the 360 on Gears 2 Emergence Day. If for no other reason than the hype and the fanbase built by the first game.
Well, I remember people ranting about this game on the Ghost Recon forums about a year ago. It was supposedly going to be the game that all the old ghost recon hardcore players (army wannabes? ) had hoped GRAW2 would be. However, I haven't really followed the progress of the game since then.
Most of the people I met who were really into GRAW hated "run n gun" shooters like Gears and Halo and played predominantly siege and capture the flag gametypes so I doubt they'll worry too much about Gears.
It's gamers like me whose money they'll lose. I generally tend to play fps games more than anything else but I tend to choose the quality of the title over the specific gameplay features - e.g. I prefer first-person view but can make exceptions when the game is outstanding like Gears was.
I'm not enough of a tactical geek that I'll choose this over Gears (you'd have to be mad to really!) but had it reared it's head a few months back I probably would have had a serious look at it.
