Day of Crisis gets Famitsu thumbs up

First review eases concerns with 34/40 score
We'll be honest with you. After long delays and total silence from Nintendo, we're not expecting much from Disaster: Day of Crisis. Surely a game is only kept tucked away like this if it's a bit of a dog, right?

Not if the first review is anything to go by. Japanese publication Famitsu has scored Nintendo's mysterious third-person adventure a whopping 34/40, getting 9/10 scores from two of the magazine's four reviewers, according to NeoGAF.

Unfortunately, translations from Japan fail to detail exactly what is said in the review, but a score like that pretty much speaks for itself.

The game's out over here on October 24, which means we should see earlier versions of it soon.

Good grief - a must have Wii title? There hasn't been one of these for months.
MONTHS I tells ya!

Wow, this game has been kicking around for ages with minimal info. Is it actually any good? Or are there just no good Wii games to compare it to...

I do have a Wii btw, just not many games Sad

Sounds good, I've liked what I have seen from the videos of the gameplay; but if it does turn out to be decent then that just makes me wonder why its been hidden away.

Typical Nintendo though, no games to buy for months and then several appear on the horizon. Barstewards.

i have zero hype for this and as a result probably won't pick it up any time soon (if at all, depending on western reviews). I am surprised Nintendo has kept it so close to its chest.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Haze received the same score so take that score with a pinch of salt

Eh, Wario Land, Megaman 9, Bomberman Blast and De Blob are some of the fairly recent releases with similar review scores.

I believe it currently has an average of around 82, 83. From about 8 reviews.

Glad to see it's done well, it would have been a shame for such an interesting game from such an interesting developer to have failed.

15 rated Nintendo game anyone?

34/40 is far from 'must-have' territory, even from Famitsu, so similar scores similarly belong in the usual 'meh' category which so characterises the Wii's software library.

Must be for the gameplay story etc coz the graphics look terrible!

Don't get me wrong though, i'm not a graphics whore Very Happy

Games can be amazing without graphics...but games should aim to match Galaxy. De Blob has done the business, alot of polish. This game has been in develpment for ages...should have had a lot of polish Razz.

85% is meh?

Whatever floats your boat...

I was the only person who believed in this title - good work Monolith (though here's hoping none of the reviews were biased as Famitsu reviews tend to be - remeber the 40/40 for Nintendogs?)!

That pretty much sums up the emotion I felt about this story!

Just using basic math here but it looks to me like 34/40 is precisely six away from ''must have' territory'.

Do you teach math in the West Yorkshire area by any chance?
