We've played the review code to death that Sony passed along a while ago but we've now got WipEout HD installed on our PS3s at home via PSN.
One thing we noticed though was a very serious health warning that you confirm you've read by pressing 'X' on the pad:
"Always play in a well lit environment. Take regular breaks, 15 minutes every hour. Discontinue playing if you experience dizziness, nausea, fatigue or have a headache.
"Some individuals are sensitive to flashing or flickering lights or geometric shapes and patterns, may have an undetected epileptic condition man may experience epileptic seizures when watching television or playing videogames.
"Consult your doctor before playing videogames if you have an epileptic condition and immediately should you experience any of the following symptoms whilst playing; altered vision, muscle twitching, other involuntary movement, loss of awareness, confusion and / or convulsions."
Now that's a serious warning not to even think about playing WipEout HD if you feel in any way ill as you're propelled around a rollacoaster track in a hovering craft at speeds the RAC haven't thought of yet.
We all know most (if not all) games carry health warnings and advice on taking regular breaks but we've never come across one as serious and doctor-like as this one.
It makes us more wary to say the least, what about you? Anyway, we're off to play some more. Wish us luck!
Update: Mega Man 9 on PSN has the same warning, tucked away under a 'Read Me' option. Maybe this is something Sony's rolling out across all games? Update out
What time is the PSN update hitting? I always check before I go to work in the morning, but its never there, is there a set time?
Also, if someone could please tell me what has been put up on the store this week, it would be much appreciated.
As far as I know, this week includes the Burnout Paradise full game download (which hopefully includes trophy support), WipEoutHD and Megaman9. Not 100% on this one, but isn't the Pro Evo demo out as well?

The PSN version of burnout will not contain trophy support, that is coming in a separate update which it clearly says on the criterion website.

You're right, but did'nt they also say that the trophy patch would be imminent upon release of the full version?
The world ends with you(on the ds that i am playing the now)- health and safety
"Stop playing and consult a doctor if you or your child have any following symptons..."
blah blah etc.
Its been warning this for years
come on now! there's no story in that... this is a SERIOUS warning... no your run of my mill warning you see in the manual with every game. A SERIOUS warning!
Just to add to the PSN update, I believe that Mirrors Edge may be on there today as well! On 360 today by all accounts as well! Cool day for downloads if that is true.
If there are trophys in Wipeout then how about some for the most fits in one game. The PS3 could just ditect when you are having a fit by the violent shackings of the sixaxis. BINGO!

ah sorry! i didnt realise how SERIOUS it was. SERIOUS where SERIOUS due. Forgive me
To be honest i have done my fair bit of trying to defend cvg but i am not sure now if this is a training ground or dumping ground for writing talent.

Wicked game, and faster than a buttered Stig! Must have played it for 2 hours solid last night, and though my eyes feel like they are in backwards, i'm okay! The Zone levels could seriously mess you up though!

im with you pretty much 100% sweet jesus! what a game, a absoloute steal at a price like that, had a mate round joining me, it has a bit of frame rate issues in split screen but apart from that its amazing the courses are intense, online play is as fun as ever and as this guy said, try zone and that will mess you up, we also stopped after about 2 hours, and my telly isnt even HD. really not surprised this failed the eppy test, tho it seems to me the only way they did pass it was sticking on that warning at the start of the game.
just wait for games to have warnings where they have to have your own docters approval and a full medical before the games even turned on!
also i advise everyone to manually add the old soundtracks of previous wipeout's. Theres a few tracks on there but nothin beats firestarter for old times sake!
It sounds like they failed in their optimisation to avert any siezures and ended up adding the warning. But as others hacve said, something that fast is bound to have some effect on you.

Did you miss something? yes you did.
As said previously...
EVERYGAME HAS THESE WARNINGS ON IT NOW.
*checks my Endless Ocean game... yep in there, checks world ends with you, yep in there, checks eternal sonata, yep in there, checks crysis, yep in there*
I bought Wipeout HD yesterday evening, but due to unreliable internets my download only made it to 60% before I went off to bed (at 2AM - that's how bad my 'net was )... These rave reviews from you and mol_e aren't helping! Really looking forward to finishing the download and getting my wipe out.

hehe sorry dude! its frustrating as it is right now sitting at work knowing thats at home waiting for me!. im really thinking about wearing sum shades or some sort of protection playing this tho. everyone i know gets that weird couple-of-seconds trip after playing guitar hero for the 1st time n things move a lil bit, but after playing this your eyes dont play tricks on you more then just feel a bit burnt out hehe
question to everyone btw, when finishing a race and you get the times (tried this on both campaign mode and online race) my mate got 1st and also 5th in quickest on the "global rankings" yet when he tried again he came like 6th and 7th but his previous time was gone, even though his 1st was quicker anyone else getting this problem?
What's this epilepsy testing supposed to mean? Are they supposed to make a game that doesn't cause problems even to people affected by photosensitive epilepsy? Isn't a warning enough?
