Frankie Boyle hosts Golden Joysticks

Hilarious Scottish comedian signs up to host the Joysticks
The Golden Joystick Awards ceremony will be the funniest ever this year. Fact. Frankie Boyle is hosting the show, and he's funny as f**k.

The Scottish comedian has cracked us up many a times in his appearances on Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You, and will host the Joystick Awards on October 31 at the Park Lane Hilton, London.

With just a few tables remaining, almost 800 guests will be entertained at the event as Frankie Boyle takes time out from his sold-out tour to present the show, which will be streamed live on the Golden Joysticks site.

Watch this sample of his work. You will laugh (although it's not for the kids, okay kids - click off now).

I can't wait for the Golden Joysticks! Frankie Boyle is one of my favourite comedians.

Possibly the funniest man on television right now with Mock The Week.

I saw him last year at the Fringe in Edinburgh and he was amazing. Might be worth tuning into the awards just to hear him rip the gaming industry and Gamers in general to shreds.

F*ckin' Nerds! Wink
StonecoldMC on 25 Sep '08
Yeah Frankie is a legend although it could be a bit risky having him host it as he doesn't tend to take any prisoners...just don't do the "Diana" joke Frankie!! Laughing
Tonyb on 25 Sep '08
funny as hell, can be really REALLY offensive on his live shows but you should really expect that coming from him anyway.

also an avid gamer so gets the thumbs up for me, brilliant choice!

I've got tickets to see Frankie Boyle at the Engine Shed in Lincoln, can't wait to go, he's an awesome choice for the Joysticks although it might be a bit R-rated.

He reminds me of the new generation Billy Connolly.

Awesome, thats great to hear. The more I see of him, the more I like the guy.

Wonder if he'll manage to mention Kerry Katona in there somewhere, too?

I've got tickets to see Frankie Boyle at the Engine Shed in Lincoln,

damn you! I was trying to get tickets for that gig but they'd sold out by the time I realised he was playing Sad

One of my favourite Frankie Boyle jokes ever was in Mock the Week under the topic

"Things You Won't Hear The Queen Saying In This Year's Annual Queen's Speech" (or words to that effect.

"I've had medical issues this year. I'm now so old, that my pu$$y is haunted"

Christ. I laughed so much I missed the next 5 minutes of the show.

To conclude - this is a damn fine choice of presenter!

Edited because it changed the word pu$$y to cat!

A Frankie quip that got cut from Mock the Week;

Regarding the Shannon Matthews kidnapping case...
"It's my view that the ugly ones always get found, her step-dad probably taped a picture of Maddy McCann to her face."

Deliciously dark and an inspired choice of host!
dweebosh on 25 Sep '08
A brilliant choice, will make the show incredibly entertaining.

"but darling what you failed to realise is when i said im a positive person i meant HIV"

Things you wouldn't hear in a tv detective show

"Well, my dear Watson, what do the bite marks on the victims breasts tell you - they tell you that I shouldn't be left alone in a room with a corpse."

He reminds me of the new generation Billy Connolly.

I like Frankie Boyle, but he is nothing like Billy Connolly. The only similarity is they are both Scottish and swear a lot.

The key to Billy Connolly, particularly the stuff that made him huge in the late 1970s and early 1980s was his working class observational comedy, the rawness and sometimes absurdness of growing up in this environment.

Frankie Boyle, no doubt influenced by Billy Connolly, as pretty much every comedian would probably say, is a very different kettle of fish. His comedy, like a lot of recent comedians is kind of like a topical tabloid bashing.

Things you wouldnt expect a TV announcer to say:

'This weeks episode of Songs Of Praise will contain strong language, and scenes of a sexual nature'

The man is just a genius!

Frankie Boyle is a Legend!
i'm definitely goin to watch this now, after all you never no whats goin to happen when he's around!
Crispy007 on 25 Sep '08
Ok last one.

I would have loved to have a gay dad. Do you remember at school, there were always kids saying "My dad's bigger than your dad, my dad will batter your dad!" "So what? My dad will shag your dad. And your dad will enjoy it."

The guy's a genius

This is great news Very Happy

*Things you wouldn't hear at a dinner party*

"I hope none of you are allergic to nuts...because I like to rest mine on the table" Razz

Possibly the funniest man on television right now with Mock The Week.

Agreed!
danmiracle on 25 Sep '08
I remember the most cringe worthy joke he ever did was when commenting on the Sadam Hussien execution video on YouTube, he said:

'Is there nothing on the internet I wont masturbate over?'

That was just superb!
fanboy on 25 Sep '08
I love Frankie, my fav comedian on Mock the Week, which reminds me, must make note to watch tonights show, i always miss it and end up watching it on BBC iPlayer.
