Check out the original N64 Banjo Kazooie running on Xbox 360 in all its high-res, colourful glory. Oh, the memories.
It's out on XBLA on November 26, although MS has confirmed that you can nab it two weeks early if you pre-order the latest title, Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts.
"Those who pre-order Banjo's latest adventure at participating retailers not only get Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts but also receive a complimentary code to redeem Banjo-Kazooie on Xbox LIVE Arcade nearly 2 weeks prior to launch and exclusive goodies in Stop N' Swop before anyone else," says MS.
In case you didn't know: "The 'Stop N' Swop' is a feature rewards players' accomplishments in the Xbox Live Arcade game by unlocking extra content and features in Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts."
It looks excellent. It's good to see developers polishing up a last generation game for this generation. Perfect Dark next please Rare.
Let's face it, there are quite a few gems from the N64 catalogue that'd probably sell well with this kind of update. Hopefully we'll see more of this kind of stuff - maybe some more Dreamcast ports? (Daytona just has to come to XBLA! - imagine that with the HD treatment)
I'd love to see PD on there. Surely that wouldnt have the copyright problems Goldeneye had.
I forgot just how textureless N64 games were Still looks nice, bright & colourful though
Unfortunately the HD makeover seems to make the lack of textures more apparent. Still, it is a classic game, especially for those who have never played it. I remember getting 100% on the N64 version, so I am in 2 minds as to whether I have the time to do that again! Maybe one for the quiet period next year!
Rather than an obvious N64 port running on some kind of emulator, it might have been nicer to have a proper remake of it. If that leaked youtube vid of it running is anything to go by, it's got the same music as well. Nothing wrong with the music(it was always great)but i would have liked an updated version of the excellent music(rather than the emulated N64 soundtrack).
Still going to be great fun to play, but i did see an N64 with Banjo go on Ebay for Ł14 recently. The xbl game isn't much cheaper. I'll still get it though.

Try playing Turok: Dinosaur Hunter on the N64 PC emulator in high-res. The textures on that are laughable - it was a launch title so I'm assuming it was before developers had worked out any texture mapping tricks.

This looks great.
Daytona would be bloody fantastic! I have it emulated on my PC with a logitech steering wheel and surround. So damn good. But having it spruced up on a console would be mint!
Ahh, what a marvelous game Banjo is. I guess I'm gettin old as it does seem like all that long ago it was released!
I saw some people commented on the textures in the game. BK has some of the best texturing (though they're unlikely to stand up to contemporary standards) I've ever seen (well certainly in that generation), and stood out at the time as being so too; compared to the washed out smudges from other N64 titles. Not quite sure why the N64 slightly below par texture quality. I remember people complaining about that at the time, but I always preferred that to the weird pixelated mess on the PS.
Can't wait to see some more classic N64 titles on the 360, including Tooie. Happy gaming
