It was inevitable: Hideo Kojima has revealed that he has "three concepts already" for Metal Gear Solid 5, despite saying MGS4 was his last game in the series (and MGS3, MGS2...)
However, Kojima told 1UP that - surprise, surprise - he doesn't want to work on any of his MGS5 ideas, and he'd rather leave the next games in the series to his younger staff.
"I would like to just make a new game, and the younger staff can work on the new MGS projects," he said. "For MGS5, it's very difficult to explain right now because we haven't announced anything.
"I have three concepts for MGS5 already. What would be ideal for me with MGS5, though, is that we don't do those. If the team picks one of those concepts, I have to get involved again, which I don't want to do."
Just as he's said for the last ten years, the Solid Snake creator says he'd rather leave the new ideas to the rest of Kojima Production so that he can work on new ideas... possibly bizarre ones, by the sound of it.
"I want to create something new, and it's difficult to explain since no one's seen it before," Kojima explained. "I don't know if it would sell very well. I've been warming this up for a long time, and I keep thinking that I'll try this idea. But ideas always change, so I really don't know what the final outcome will be.
"There are already so many good [MGS5] ideas from the staff, so if we select one of those, that would be really good. At that point I could really rely on them and take the step back to be the producer, which is the ideal situation, I think."
Personally if Kojima walks away from MGS, we'd rather not be disappointed by potential follow-ups from other staff. But if he's at the helm... yeah, go on then - we'll have on more MGS, ta.
He's just saying that he doesn't want all of his time spent on another MGS which is understandable because of how long he's been involved with the series. personally i'd love to see what kojima does next if it's not MGS because i know that it'll be something very different, maybe a little strange but then again MGS series has had it's fair share of odd moments and they are some of the greatest games i've ever played, "Time to change the disc Snake" lol!
If the team can pull off another great MGS game without Kojima being involved as much whilst he conjures up something else entirely different then why not?
I'd like to see a next-gen Zone of the Enders. The first game was one of the first titles I bought for my PS2 back in the day. They improved on the formula alot for the second game.

yeah but didn't everyone just buy Zone of the Enders to get the MGS2 demo that was on the disc. i know that's the only reason i bought it, the actual game itself was pretty poor.

Yet the Sony fanboys slagged off Crackdown for the exact same thing with the Halo 3 Beta key years later... selective memory me thinks.
Kojima is a little bat-guano-loco. He'll be in full control of the next MGS game I bet. He is addicted to the series as much as Mr Lucas is to Starwars... well, maybe not that addicted.

aye but Crackdown was an excellent game in its own right. it didn't need the halo3 beta to sell. Z.O.E was a very dark repetitive game that got boring after 10 mins. i could still stick Crackdown on and have a blast jumping over rooftops or racing at street level.

My favorite moment from Crackdown was climbing to the top of the Agency Tower before jumping off and landing in the water... followed closely by killing people with the Globe, ten pin bowling taken to the next level.
Well I thought MGS4 was crap, sure it looks good but the story was a pile of s**t.
Some of those cut scenes were just embarrassing ; kind of like a cross between Benny Hill with the looking up skirt bits and sunset beach with the emotional bits . Oh and it played rubbish too!
I know I'll probably get flamed for my rant as I seem to be the only one who can see through the pretty graphics
I guess spotty teenagers were the target audience.
You're entitled to your opinion just as much as the rest of us, so no, I shant flame you. Some games just aren’t for certain kinds of people. Give me a game chock full of story and I'll lap it up like a starving cat, even if the gameplay isn't quite up to scratch. On the other hand I'll likely quickly die of boredom from the majority of FPS or racing titles out there. So I guess you could say I loved MGS4. There were some brilliant moments in there.
I'd love to see another Zone of the Enders as well. I don't know about anybody else, but I certainly didn't buy the first one for the MGS demo. In fact my version didn't even have the demo in it (bought it second hand since I didn't have much money at the time).
Well, I shall wait and see what the man comes up with next.
I think Kojima should just let the rest of his staff milk the franchaise if that's what Konami wants to do. Kojima has acomplished his mission of telling the tale of Solid Snake, which was nicely wrapped up with MGS4. The only possible way forward for the franchaise would be prequels of less important missions Snake may have gone through (abit pointless though) or side stories with Raiden or 'Pants s**tter Guy' as the focus. Either way, let Kojima express himself through new projects rather than being tied down to the MGS franchaise for life. As for people wanting MGS4 on 360, just buy a PS3. Even if you never play a game on it apart from that, at least you have a Blu-Ray player...
Unless Konami have another fully-certified genius/mentalist at the helm for the next MGS game, it just won't be the same - so either bring back Koj or let it rest.
He got death threats for not originally doing MGS4...so if they f**k up the series with a sequel where Snake gets back in action people would be mad. Raiden has some good prequel stories, as could Big Boss again. They're the only ones I'd be interested in playing.
He won't leave it to younger staff, he will have some involvement no doubt. He's called the series his baby, he won't let others ruin it.
the next work it's rumoured to be cyberpunked theme like the previous policenauts.
Despite not being announced has a game, it was reported in Famitsu (the most famous videogame Japanese videogame magazine) as collaboration with Suda51 (another creative game producer from grass hoper)
