A trailer for BioShock 2 is tucked away at the end of BioShock on PS3, which launched in US earlier this week, it's emerged.
The trailer confirms the game's title as BioShock 2: Sea of Dreams. It's being developed by recently-founded 2K Marin, while original lead Ken Levine offers limited guidance as he works on a new IP.
The video features a Little Sister holding a Big Daddy plush toy, looking out over the sea. Other than that there's not much to see, though it's heavily rumoured that the second game is a prequel, and this trailer seems to back that up.
We reckon 2K will wait until 2009 to fully unveil the sequel, dodging the noise of all the awesome games coming out over the next couple of weeks.
Elsewhere, PSM3 has pointed out BioShock PS3's astounding 97% Metacritic score, which it notes is currently higher than GTA IV, sitting at 96%.
Thanks for the nice spoiler in the last two pictures. Although, if you've gotten this far without someone spoiling Bioshock's story for you then you're lucky.

GTAIV's is actually 98% not 96% but LittleBigPlanet's is 96%. Just waiting to see what Far Cry 2 gets with the other big releases on the same day already having their scores in.

Could just be a different ending, the bad ending on the 360 version could have been taken as a hint to a sequel as well.
The endings of the original 'hint' at a sequel whereby a trailer confirms a sequel.
As to whether this trailer is indeed a hidden bonus, it seems an odd choice of how to announce it though, as only PS3 owners would see it (as well as CVG viewers )
Would be interesting if they used the bad ending to follow up. As long as it isn't that rumoured prequel

Sadly a "bad ending" follow up would hint at being too much of just another runandgun shooter.
The genius of the game was that you could play it in different ways, and that there were different ways to complete each level... I remember getting two Big Daddies to fight each other in one level so all it took to take out two of them was a couple of bullets as they mashed each other into a pulp.
Strange way to officially announce the sequel, especially in port. Perhaps this means the 360 won't have a 12 month exclusive period like it did with the original? Would have been much better to wait until next year when everyone's attention isn't on the onslaught of games coming our way right now. Think this'll go unnoticed but then again it doesn't exactly requel much.
^__^ I agree. The timing is really bad, and in fact I feel quite underwhelmed by that trailer as a result, and I have been really looking forward to a sequel/prequel. Doesn't help that we all find out via a shaky-cam video. Should have waited until the new year.
Well it cant be a prequel as CVG says as the girl is holding a big daddy toy, big daddy's only came about after Rapture went nuts so how can a prequel have a girl holding one.

What I meant was: ever since I played the first one I've been excited about the prospect of a sequel or a prequel. Obviously now it's confirmed to be a sequel but before this confirmation I didn't know either way.
Who would have thought last year that the exclusive Bioshock on 360 would see an improved port go to PS3 and now look the sequel looks like a PS3 exclusive, hence why this trailer is not on xbox lives.
Thanks 2K, I hope they make a System Shock sequel exclusive to PS3 aswell now
