November 19 is the big day for 360 owners looking forward to the flashy New Xbox Experience backend. But you may not have to wait that long to get hold of it.
Major Nelson - MS' official Xbox blog - is teasing early access to NXE if you "keep an eye on" the blog.
In a recent podcast, MS said: "...I know you as my audience, you guys, you like to pick up and play. You want to get your hands on it and I don't blame you because you'll enjoy it. In fact, if you want to get your hands on it, let me just say this... keep an eye on my blog next week.
"If you want to get your hands on it early, that's all I'm going to say," Nelson reaffirmed (via Gameplay Unlimited).
And that really is all he says, not giving away any further clues as to how access will be given, or how limited.
We would imagine something as major (no pun intended) as a console backend would simply be too complicated for a game-like beta program, but it looks like Microsoft might be about to prove us wrong.
Count me OUT. This is a major update, and I want to see if there are any 'bricked' consoles or other problems before I download it myself. I have no wish to have an issue similar to the PS3 firmware update that knacked a few consoles. Not if I can help it anyway.

Yeah - sod that, now is really not the time for a bricked console!

But isnt it a closed Beta rather than a console update? Must learn to read articles properly in future.
Jeez! we're not ALL that excited about it major. Personally, i could wait another year on it. PS: Do us all a favour and sack Mr Pointy Head! That guy has to be the annoying cringeworthy cretin i've ever had the misfortune to endure! I refuse to watch any game related stuff with him commenting on it or doing an interview - the man is a dick!
It makes sense to allow some people early access this way. It'll show the potential mainstream problems before it actually goes live, and it'll mean less people downloading it on live day.
I'd like to get it early, but is there any kind of comeback for us? If it bricks our box, will MS do free repairs again?

Surely it's a closed beta OF a console update... The end result would be the same either way. I'd rather wait til the evening of the 19th November to gauge if there have been any issues thanks, than join a closed beta and have my console f**k up in time for Fable, Fallout, Far Cry, Dead Space, Gears of War, Banjo Kazooie, Left 4 Dead, Mirrors Edge, Call fo Duty: World at War, blah blah blah. Just not worth the risk to get a sneak peak IMO.
Yeah i think i would rather wait and see how these guinea pigs fair....imagine having your console bricked the week of gears 2 etc....i nearly cried when i got the rrod the day before gta 4.

I'm not looking forward to the update either (apart from the 5-way private chat and better suited screen resolution), but knowing we're gonna be forced to use it might as well try to get used to it now.
and no, Mr Pointy Head is NOT a dick, he just messes around where as the other guy tries to be serious all the time (who's also alright).
Each to their own opinions and all that, but just because you think he's a c**k doesn't mean everyone else does and remember that your word isn't law.
