Nintendo granddaddy Shigeru Miyamoto says games will beat the current credit crisis, as he thinks entertainment is almost as important as the essentials we need to survive.
Speaking during a London tour today to Channel 4 news, Miyamoto said he has high hopes for Wii Music despite the current rocky economic conditions.
"We need to eat in order to live - that's our first priority," Miyamoto said. "But entertainment and the enrichment of our souls must come in second place.
"Nintendo's mission is to take advantage of improving cheaper technology to create reasonable and affordable entertainment. It's very good value," he added. Xbox 360 is 60 quid cheaper, by the way.

dont know what that guy is smoking but i sure as hell wont be buying so many games not with the crazy prices of them in the current climate, for 65euro id get 2 nights in the pub and probably 12 hours, average game is only 7-8 hours long, pub wins
i think he's right about the money, but the pricing strategy is certainly not reflecting this. 40 quid for a Wii game? madness in this financial climate. the best thing for people to do is buy second hand old games that thrive on gameplay rather than anything else. I can still enjoy Theme Hospital immensely.
Wow that guy makes Bill Gates look like a fashion guru. I doubt it'll be the credit crunch that hits Wii Music, more so the cack reviews it seems to be getting.
Hardly takes a genius to say this. Credit crucnh is forcing people to stay at home more rather than go out for dinner or the pub or cinema or whatever. As such most home entertainment companies are seeing a rise in sales. Sky have had record subscriptions in the last few months i beleive.
And in another interview Miyamoto says "We have to drink to p**s!".
You're a games designer mate not Confucius, so quit with the attempts at profound statements, and if people really want "enrichment of their souls", try doing something for somebody for free instead of being sat on their ar$ses in-front of a TV throwing their arms around!
The Wii draws far less power than the other 2 consoles, so you save money on electricity bills. I know this for a fact because mine hasn't been switched on for a couple of months now. Savings!
Also, you can save on heating bills because you don't need those radiators when you're waving your arms around like crazy! Of course you risk hypothermia when you stop because of the sweat and the sudden temperature decrease, but that just means you shouldn't stop! More savings!
Theres my food, rent & then my car so that I can actualy get to work & earn money.
Then I'll want to go out drinking with lads on Sat or Friday. Then theres any football matches I want to go to. Then theres christmas shopping for my family, none of which actualy game. & the ones that do only like Wii Sports & arent bothered about any other game.
All this takes priority over games in my life & im a 'hardcore gamer'. So its not as important as he thinks. What a shock, Shigsy talks crap again.
