New PSP firmware goes live

Fixes issues for those with massive memories
Following Firmware 5.0 going live last week Sony has found some issues with large Memory Stick PRO Duos. Update: The fix is now live.

This just in from the Official PlayStation Blog: "PSP firmware update 5.00 added direct access to the PlayStation Store, and we've since found an issue related to larger-capacity Memory Stick PRO Duos, which we'll be addressing with a new update (5.01).

"When downloading content from the Store to a PSP with an 8 GB or 16 GB Memory Stick Duo media inserted, you may see a message indicating that the media does not have enough free space, even when sufficient space exists. Update 5.01 resolves this issue and will be coming soon."

It's out now, big memory people.

It'll be nice when Sony can issue a major update without having to fix some sort of bug a week or so later.

All good so far on PS3's 2.5 update though.

so true AJDarkstar, it would be nice if they could issue a major update without having to fix it!

My PSP updated no probs (but am using a smaller mem card), PS3 update still having issues (when I try and pay for something on the PS store is comes up with an error - 8023102 or something. The details were correct and working ok before the update (Got WipEout HD and Linger in Shadows recently) - even re-typing doesn't help. According to the tech-line they don't know the cause of this, still working on it.

this is the 1st time have had a prob with any of the firmware updates, so I'm not too upset (just want to grab the COD4 map pack while it's still on special offer. pah).
