Joysticks: CoD4 is Online GoTY

Activision's stellar shooter tops MMOs
Activision's stellar shooter Call of Duty 4 has topped this year's major MMO releases to be crowned Games Radar's Online Game of the Year.

The critically acclaimed FPS has topped online rivals Lord of the Rings Online and World of Warcraft, which both collected masses amounts of votes in this year's awards.

We can't say we're surprised. CoD 4's pretty much all we've been playing online throughout 2008, and the release of the Variety Map Pack earlier this year only increased the amount of PS3 and Xbox 360 players grabbing the ghillie suit online.

i know a lot of people love this online, there's usually a few on my friends list playing it, but i just couldn't get into it online. loved the main game but for me online play was always glitchy, i'd unload a full clip into someone just to have them turn round and kill me with one shot and sometimes the lag was terrible due to the game always picking yanks to be the hosts. i much prefer bad company as an online shooter, i don't think i've ever had the same problems playing it that i got with COD. its made me consider missing out on the next one(but then the fact infinity ward aren't making it is also a factor as i wasn't the biggest fan of COD3)

Well deserved. I'm certainly addicted to the online side of CoD4.
