THQ delays Red Faction, loses $115m

THQ dished out a plate of bad news this morning; action pair Red Faction Guerrilla and Darksiders: Wrath of War have both slipped to late next year, while company loses have hit a massive $115m (£72m) for its second quarter of the fiscal year.

The company also reduced its profit prediction by $100m, which it puts down to the delay of the above shooters and "an unsure retail environment".

The news comes after the more and more likely-looking report earlier this week that the publisher has closed five of its development studios.

In its earnings report late last night THQ confirmed that it will reduce development staff by "17 percent", or 250 people.

Sounds like some much needed trimming-of-the-fat going on in the THQ board room then. As for Red Faction, it should be one of the higher profile games of next year. Have a read of our eyes-on here.
