Lips creator Keiichi Yano has confirmed that the microphones that come with Lips won't be compatible with Rock Band or Guitar Hero: World Tour.
Rock Band and Guitar Hero both use wired USB microphones, whereas the Lips mics are wireless, explains Yano, so they connect to the console in the same way as 360 pads.
But Yano said adding compatibility to Rock Band and GHWT would be easy. "It's not something we can do, obviously [the games would require a patch]. I mean, I hope so for Rock Band, Guitar Hero. It won't work out of the box but it's relatively easy to kind of get it going," he told MTV.
So, Harmonix and Neversoft, it's up to you. Lips is out this Friday. Look out for our review mid-week.
I'll whisper this very quietly, but I think Im going to pick a copy of this up, I read a preview on 1UP and they seemed to think it was quite good game that wasnt just a straight clone of Singstar.
When the family and friends come over during the festivities Im sure this will go down a (drunken) storm, the fact that you can use your MP3 player/iPod to take tracks to use from them is brilliant, I never thought I'd get the chance to do a Son of Dave song on karaoke.
wireless mic's? do MS own a battery company that we don't know about. between this and the buzzers from Scene it! people must be gonna spend a fortune on batterys for these peripherals. and also are Rock Band mics compatable with LIPS as they only seem to mention it the other way round
probably because Rock Band was out long before LIPS was even a concept.
is that a yes or a no?
Well if Lips isn't compatible with Rock Band what do you think? well its always a possibility that they've put the patch into LIPS to allow RB and GH mics to work. they haven't mentioned it. thats what i'm getting at.
