Konami has just confirmed that the next major expansion for Metal Gear Online, dubbed Meme, will be out on November 25.
The expansion adds two new playable characters, Liquid Ocelot and MGS1's Mei Ling, new levels and some new gameplay rules. We'll let Konami do the talking:
"Liquid Ocelot enters the fray with the ability to manipulate the Sons of the Patriots' lock system using his Guns of the Patriots skills, and can also deactivate the weaponry of a targeted for within Metal Gear Online's multi-player modes. Similarly, Mei Ling comes into play with three unique attributes, including the Trench Mortar weapon, Soliton Sonar capabilities, and the means to transfix enemies.
"Three new maps have also been created, with the rough, uneven industrial elements of Silo Sunset, the dense foliage of Forest Firefight and a snow-blown deserted factory called Winter Warehouse available for the first time.
"The download also implements a number of new rules, which are also now available without the Meme Expansion update. A new 'No Headshot' setting allows players to attribute the same level of damage when shot in the head to that of a regular body shot.
"'Stealth Death Match' allows users to compete with the stealth elements switched on automatically; while the 'Interval' setting allows used to practice and chat with each other within the battlefield, without their ranking or records being adversely affected.
Meme will cost you 7.99 Euros (£6.75 in conversion, but probably £6.99).
" Meme will cost you 7.99 Euros (Ł6.75 in conversion, but probably Ł6.99)." aye and you can add about 3 hours of your life trying to log in and download said update. stick it on the bloody PS Store and maybe we'll talk.
So that's why Konami have been keeping MGS4 fresh in our minds for the last few months. They're dripfeeding the excellent MGnline with new content. Hopefully this expansion won't physically break the game like the last one did.
Good idea and support, but i think that is too much money for what they are offering. Plus i think they should fix all their server, lag and account issues before they start charging for new content - maybe they will be able to afford a better delivery system rather than peer-to-peer rubbish to save them bandwidth.
admitidley I haven't played the multiplayer game for months because of said issues, I might check it out tonight to see if anything has improved. no doubt i will be shouldered with an update thats only 60mb but will take me three days to download....
would seriously love this game if it wernt so darned difficult to get hold of the extra content. Stick everything on the PSN store and life would be so much easier and i wouldnt need a credit card to buy the expansions.
Cool, can someone help me here? How do you, 1. take photos online? And 2.Talk to people online?
with a headset or text? for voice press and hold select till a voice icon thingy appears around the middle on the left hand side of your screen, then you just speak freely and it should transmit to your team. to use text just press select and type or use the predefined messages.
See Rockstar, this is prompt downloadable content... A year later is NOT prompt. See the difference?
Yeah thats right R* thats how you do it, make everyone have 2 extra logins and passwords that are usually different from your gamertag and therefore most gamers forget their logins or just cant be bothered no more, refuse to put the content on the online store (be it XBLA or PSN) make gamers buy directly off of you to get the most money from consumers too. Thats deffinitely the way to do it.
it's a sound business plan tbh. it also means MGO is independent of PSN and can be played even when PSN is down. by maximising cash flow to konami MGO players are rewarded with quality DLC like this.
i will probably end up buying it if i get back back into MGO by then. the constant server crashes and discovery of warhawk ended my interest. sadly. wouldn't mind being able to play maps in night time though, not having ANY night maps renders the NVG nigh on useless.
