Halo Wars, Ensemble's LONG-awaited 360 RTS, not only controls well on a controller, but lead designer Graeme Devine says that it controls better than PC RTS games do with a mouse and keyboard.
"It's a brash thing to say," admitted Devine in an interview with CVG, adding: "but I wouldn't say it if I didn't believe it." We wouldn't print it unless we thought he believed it. You didn't see the look in his eye...
"We spent the first year of this project just working on the controls. Without the controls working it's pointless even doing the game.
"We actually took Age of Mythology and we set ourselves a target. One of our testers, who's a hardcore RTS PC guy came over and told us that it's easier to play with the controller than it is with a mouse and keyboard.
"At that point, we gave ourselves the green light. It took about 12 months of playing with the controller to hit that milestone so at that point I felt it was ready. I've seen enough people converted to be pretty confident about it."

Unless they have designed this to use a mouse and keyboard, and dumbed it down to suit the consoles lack of ability, there is no way this turd can compete with a PC RTS.
World in Conflict is superb on the PC and easy to control, so are games like Universe at War. So far from the trailers/footage, the game is not impressive at all.
ANd how hard are PC RTS's to control? You drag and click and thats about it. Unless this has been completely dumbed down to retard level i dont accept this at all.
I'll believe that when I se.. actually, no I won't, I don't care what it felt like, with an RTS you need speed, precision, and an almost infinite number of shortcut keys, keyboard and mouse are better.
well 4 some reason (mayb its common sense) i cant believe tht now im wondering how shallow of an rts this is gonna b ie a dumb mans rts.......on a console, awesome combo!
They don't exactly say WHY their system is better then using a keyboard and mouse and how its achieved it. Just because one person said so doesn't mean anything.
I can see far more advantages in a keyboard and mouse then a joypad when it comes to RTS games. precision and plenty of quick keys for one.
This is quite pathetic really, who is going to buy this game with all the overrated crap that is out this Xmas?
Casuals won't be interested and will pick up one of the 200 different 90+ rated FPS' released this Xmas, and RTS lovers are stupid if they are not waiting for Starcraft 2 or Red Alert 3 or Dawn of War II.
And no, a console RTS can NEVER have better controls than a mouse & keybo combo, and to suggest otherwise is stupid.
I always complained that consoles couldn't do FPS controls well, and I think they've got it pretty much sorted now (I like the CoD4 controls).
Without actually trying it to see, you just don't know. RTS on consoles thus far have been PC conversions so obviously they weren't going to match up. But one built specifically for console controls has potential.
interesting that so many people know how this is going to play without even playing it. why not wait, then try it out and then give your opinion?
You clearly forgot that kane wrath "borrowed" halo wars "ground breaking" controls (or at least the ones they demoed) and whilst it worked for the building ques (spelling)the unit control was a total `mare
