Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot expects critical praise for the next installment of the revered Prince of Persia franchise.
"Already, there's a number of good marks. We have 8s, some 9s and one 10. But we're still waiting for a lot of marks to come.
So altogether, at the moment [scores are around] high 8s. We hope it can be in the 9s, but [we expect] it to be 8.5 and 9.2 or 3," Guillemot said during a Wednesday earnings call.
Prince of Persia is under development at Ubisoft Montreal, and is slated to release on PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in early December.
I'm with you on that WHERESMYMONKEY; initially I was wary of the art style chosen yet I've since come to think it's looking pretty brilliant indeed. Too bad I won't be buying this game thanks to Ubisoft's recent decision to follow in EA's footsteps with limited activations and one of the nastier versions of DRM SecuROM. I swear if it keeps spreading to other publishers then one day it could conceivably end up with me leaving the PC gaming market. Not because there aren't games I won't want to play nor will it be because I can't afford them, no, it'll be due to this crap shoot fest that EA, Sony, Ubisoft, possibly SEGA and others have embarked upon. Epic fail.
I love the visuals, but from the few videos that I have seen, I am worried that it may be too easy.
Still, I wouldn't trust a reviewer as far as I could throw them nowadays. Far too many differing opinions to be able to trust anyone apart from yourself.
Whatever the score, I can only hope it is based on enjoyment and fun, rather than the usual expectations/technical aspects/hype bulls**t.

This is pretty much my view on the debaucle of DRM
I'm definitely getting it. I thoroughly enjoyed the Sands trilogy, mostly for the platforming, which I expect is at least as good here, if not even better.
It's the only game left this year that I'm excited about and definitely buying... the other would be Sonic Unleashed, but I won't know if I'm excited for Sonic Unleashed until I read some reviews.

It looks as though the Werehog (?) has crocked the new Sonic game from the initial reviews that I've read. Oh well, at least Sega are consistant.
Perfectly summed up, WHERESMYMONKEY. A third alternative is to become the hapless chump that lets the unscupolous businesses roll him/her for the price of a premium title only to have his/her customers rights and private property violated while having the dubious distinction of paying for it. DRM is possibly *the* worst business model of the early 21st Century (talk about a massive shoot-yourself-in-the-foot scenario) - we'll see if it gets better along the way.
Reports so far on PoP mention that it is impossible to die, Elika saves you if you fall and if you are struck down in battle then you are resurrected almost instantly to answer Mark240473's concerns. It has to be said though, both Prey and Bioshock technically did the same thing i.e. no real consequence for death, and they were both awesome experiences (the former a little dated now mind). I was worried about the final quality of the game after reading a couple negative reviews, but it looks like Ubi have come up trumps again. Yet another hole in my wallet. This year has been so cruel to the bank balance. Why save absolutely everything for two months of the year? DAMN YOU VIDEO GAMES INDUSTRY!!!
Props to Monolith though for putting F.E.A.R 2 back. That would have been the straw that resulted in a re-mortgage.
