Resi 5: Console exclusives revealed

Documentary for PS3, soundtrack for 360
When you're finally able to grab a copy of Resident Evil 5 next year, you will find different goodies in the box depending on which console you buy it for.

Capcom has revealed a bunch of console-specific exclusive extras, giving multi-platform gamers a bit of a decision to make.

The PS3 version will come with a special making-of video feature, which was apparently made by Hollywood staff (so hopefully a little better made than some shaky cam footage in a dull motion capture studio).

On the other hand the 360 version will come in a metal case with a soundtrack CD included called the "Biohazard 5 Selection Track", according to Japanese translations of the official Capcom site.

The 360 extras will only come with an initial 'Delux Edition' allotment, and when they run out you'll just get the game on its own. Whereas the PS3's video comes on the same disc as the game, so expect that to be a permanent extra.

Capcom also revealed a special Limited Edition version of the game (pictured), which comes in an even fancier box, packing a 2GB USB memory stick, a 32-page art book, and a waist pouch that resembles one used in the game.

All very nice. Which version will you be opting for if you own both systems?

I'll just go for the cheapest, Thankyou very much Capcom.

Call me boring/cheap whatever but i think ill just stick to the good old fashioned regular edition.

The middle one... Rolling Eyes

But seriously all of this console exclusive stuff is getting ridiculous. I have all three consoles and a DS (which, incidently, is being used as a paperweight at this moment in time) so I'm not that effected by it so much, but I feel sorry for the people who bought Fallout 3 on PS3 due to only having that one console. They've been truly buggered by Bethesda. And on GTA4.

I remeber when you would buy a multiformat game based on which console and controller you prefered whereas now you also have to take into account exclusives which should have been a part of the game in the first place. And to top it off I want both the Resi 5 soundtrack and DVD Evil or Very Mad

Rant over.

Forget the exclusive s**t, as long as the game has the same cracking dialogue as previous games -

"You see Jill, I was intimidating Barry and his family to do my bidding."

"Yes Jill, that's right, I was intimidated by Wesker and in turn intimidated you."

"But in the end I've intimidated both of you. and now you must die."

Oh Wesker, how the winter nights must just fly past....

I agree. If a game is exclusive then it should be fully exclusive, if it is multiformat then it should be the same package on all systems. The only differences should be due to limitations and strengths of the hardware.

Wow that really is a lot of crap. Who would honestly listen to a Resident Evil soundtrack?
kinobick on 1 Dec '08
I'm definitely getting the all singing all dancing special edition version for the 360. I'm a bit of a special/collectors edition whore really!

Can't wait for Resident Evil 5.....not sure about the soundtrack though?
trzarector1 on 1 Dec '08
Pointless really.
Why pay that exra Ł10 for crap like that?
I don't mean to sound like a cheapskate, but that documentary will *show* up on the net eventually with the soundtrack.
I'll stick to the normal edition thanks and focus on playing the game. Wink

I don't think the PS3 version is a special edition as the documentary comes on the same disc (Blu-ray FTW!) as the game. I'll get that one, probably.

Documetaries for games tend to be so boring so I'd go for the soundtrack if I had both consoles...
JuiKuen on 1 Dec '08
Whats the point of making it exclusive to each console? Do they expect some to buy both versions?
(For note, they'd probably just buy them off eBay if that fanatical).

The only decent special edition I've seen was the Resi4 one, because it was a lush case Razz. And it was one special game too Very Happy

I have both consoles but would have bought it for my PS3 anyway as that's my preferred machine. Having seen the options, PS3 wins hands down here.

er, to be a collectors edition it has to be in a limited run of under a 1000 worldwide. its called rarity. how many do you think Capcom will produce? 100,000? 200,000?

so when you come to sell it cos its a 'collectable' supply and demand will dicate that its worth less than what you paid for it.

what i'm trying to say is i'm buying the normal copy for my PS3, unless it comes in a steal book then i'll get that cos its the same price and looks better on my shelf.

Dunno bout anyone else but a resi evil soundtrack strikes me as a bit naff. It's been a while since I played resi evil but from what i remember it's just weird ambience with dramatic music in places. Not really the sort of thing you can sit down and listen to. Still, each to their own I suppose, but I'll be grabbin the PS3 version! Very Happy
