Tekken 6 out Autumn 2009

Will be the "biggest and the best in the series" says Namco
Atari, who will publish Tekken 6 on PS3 and 360 next year, has narrowed down the release of the anticipated title to autumn 2009.

We've seen the arcade version in action and have to say that it looks pretty bloody good - it's just good old Tekken with the flashiest visuals of the series so far, by the looks of it.

Unsurprisingly, Namco promised at the Atari event today that Tekken 6 will be the "biggest and best in the series".

You should check it out for yourself here, where you'll find a good four minutes of gameplay footage.

WAHOO!!

I'm looking forward to Tekken 6. Tekken 5 is probably my favourite ever 3D beat 'em up.

meh... to me tekken aint been so "revoloutionary" since the 3rd in the series, its been in mid-drift since nothings really stood out and having these huge bosses isnt really adding anything diffrent..

had dark resurrection witht he online expansion since it came out and its alright havin a p**s up with mates but apart from that it doesnt usually get played all that much tho i do play it more often when compared to soul calibur 4.. man that game annoyed me!

And that in my opinion is the problem. It really needs a new engine to bring it up to scratch. I mean, it still the same animation routines as the first game FFS!

What the frick??

That's another year away. I played the arcade version last April for crying out loud.

No, no it's not. Yes, to the untrained eye they may appear the same. But the animations differ from sequel to sequel. They put in slight tweaks here and there, take out certain animation frames, etc.

Obviously the hardcore (which I am not one of them) will notice bigger differences to the casual fan, but the differences are there nonetheless. But yeah, there's a massive difference between the first couple of Tekken games, to the 5th installment.

This is what happens in fighting games, every sequel has slight improvements over the last.

my only issue is that it should already be out Ps3,come next autumn I can't see much space for this in my 09 collection.

@ nottsville
They are using a new engine for Tekken 6, and the character animations have all been changed.

^so.... it's just a shiny version of Tekken 5 then. The character still falls back at a 45degree angle when you hit them, what is that. Nobody cares about stupid little new animations that nobody will notice, and what is that s**t where Jin hits someone with a frickin' guitar and another player had little monkeys or whatever running around the floor...

Don't forget Bryan's shotgun!

Everything I have to say about Tekken 6 is in my sig.

I dont get peoples comments about the animations havent changed!? Yup if they'd only played tekken 5 but tekken dr had all new animations.

I tried to get into other 3d fighters but for me tekken gameplay feels solid!

My only complaint is the online play needs to be sorted!Sfhd is almost lag free and now tekken 6 isnt out until next year theres no reason why online should be laggy!
Also on quick note cut down the juggles as they are getting ridiculous, it should be abit more up close and personal!Domo

That's not Jin, that's a new character Miguel. Shows how much you know.
