Rare fixes Banjo XBLA glitches

Patch rectifies missing Notes glitch, but you'll have to start again
The N64 classic, Banjo-Kazooie, finally hit XBLA today, along with a new patch that fixes problems with the version release to a lucky few early.

The patch fixes some graphical issues, and a glitch that made some of the game's Notes disappear, essentially rendering the game impossible to complete (for the most hardened of completists). Unfortunately, you'll have to start the game over to bring the fix into effect.

Here's the official list of fixes:

  • The update addresses issues experienced by people playing in the 1080i and 1080p. Players will be able to enjoy the game in uncompromised 1080 loveliness.

  • It also addresses the Bottles Secret Puzzle glitch for all players starting the game afresh.

  • Finally, it also sorts out the one or two instances of strange leaderboard entries but as part of that, two of the leaderboards will need to be reset to make everything fair and square again...

Sad I know it only takes like 6 hours to complete this game but it's annoying to have to restart, especially because i was using it for stop n swop

I bought the game today, afer over a month of looking forward to it, and it's still as geat as I remember it. Still my all-time favourite 3D platforming game - controls, music and visuals still hold up remarkably well.

Can't wait to get my hands on Banjo-Tooie early next year, as I never played the sequel.

Yeah agreed...the gameplay & "fun factor" in-spite of the HD makeover is still there by the bucket-load...timeless classic in the Mario mode!

Oh, I remember when I completed this in 1998 and bugs such as this weren't a concern.

I downloaded it tonight too, I didn't really play it first time around, but watched as a mate played it loads.

It really is still classic stuff, very possibly the best and most well rounded 3D platform game ever. I now wish I'd played it all those years ago!

What are you?!

Hang on, what if you haven't experienced any of these "missing notes" problems yet? I've clocked up 3 hours and 26 minutes of play so far, getting everything from the first three levels and clearing much of the fourth, so if I have to start again, I'll be p**sed. Rare need better quality control, methinks, as do Bethesda and Lionhead.

Why it got delayed?

QA sucks big time!

The missing notes problem occurs only if you do Bottles' Jigsaw Puzzles. If you haven't done this yet, then you have nothing to worry about. Complete the game, get 900 notes, and then do Bottles' puzzles.

i have just downloaded this game, this week.

what a classic, as i missed it the first time round i am really enjoying it. would be amazing if rare made a new version as a XLA game in the same old school style.

this has got me much more gripped than nuts and bolts.

are the days of fun platformers really over, or could developers find a whole new market for this type of game via XLA and PSN - with lowish development costs and higher profit returns via direct selling and no pireting to worry about it must be worth it surely?
