Microsoft's currently toasting Xbox 360's biggest sales month in its six-year European history. And it wants you to know all about it.
According to sales data from stat-cruncher GfK-ChartTrack, 360 sales during November were up 124 percent over the same period last year, compared to a 43 percent rise in Wii sales and a three percent gain in the number of PS3s shifted.
The company said 360 outsold PS3 across the whole of Europe during the month, seeing significant gains in France, Spain and Italy.
With 360 sales having just passed seven million in Europe, Xbox exec Chris Lewis hailed November as "a very significant milestone for Xbox", again ramming home the fact that the console's outselling PS3, a factor he puts down to the system's cheaper price point and all round entertainment value.
"In the current economic conditions, consumers are more cautious than ever and looking for more value for their entertainment spend," he said. "Xbox 360 delivers that value - we're now the best-value next-gen console on the market and this positive momentum indicates Xbox 360 is offering the right blend of gaming and entertainment experiences at the right price."
So it's all smiles at MS approaching Christmas, but even Xbox big boss Shane Kim has acknowledged that the company's preparing for some "tough times" next year. Enjoy it while it lasts, we say.

This deal isn't too shabby for 360. 60gb + GOW 1 & 2 plus Far cry 2 and extra controller for £188.49. With live £30, its £218.49.
End of the day, both great consoles, who cares what does what, as long as you enjoy games thats the main thing.

120-80 is 40... so that price you've just given there is still around the same price as the ps3 BUNDLE, and you still get an extra 40gb hdd... your just convincing me even more how much of a rip off the ps3 is lol!

I've got about 30 or so Live arcade games including big ones like SF2-HD and Bionic Commando, about 10 of my fave CDs fro ingame usage, all my game saves including countless replays from Forza2, some essential DLC (Forza tracks and Gears maps etc), a few demos (which I delete if I'm not convinced about or only checked out due to curiosity) and a couple of the nicer game trailers like the Gears promo videos I keep, and I've still got 9GB free.
That's what not having games that require large installs, and not attempting to be a "media hub" do I think!

Its only 20gb less then the ps3 80 gb version and that depends if your going to use it all or not. If you were that desperate, you could sell the 60bg hard drive and then pick up 120gb (bigger then 80gb ps3 ) and still have cash over to buy Fable 2 from gamestation

You need somewhere to store all that stuff. The more games you get the more space you need. The more demos you want to keep hold of (if you don't want to buy the retail game) the more space you need...

Everyone knows 360 is unreliable, I've had RROD & finally with NXE no more cd noise, tho the fans can be a pain , could never a watch a movie on it!! but ps3 isnt without its problems, I've had a duff br drive, multi-format games are not as good as 360 (check out all those eurogamer face offs) but it does have some stella exlusives like WO & Drake.

The Dreamcast one was ugly as sin - but pretty good to use. The old SNES and Megadrive ones were dull looking and feel really odd these days. The Playstation control pads (because they've really not changed since the PS1 design-wise) are far too small and angular for the average adult to be comfortable with. The N64 pad was a strange looking thing - kind of like a cross-breed between a PS pad and starfish. The original XBox controllers were big, cumbersome things - comfortable, but really not attractive.
I guess that leaves the 360 pad and the Gamecube pad.

Irrespective of the fact that when was controller aesthetics EVER an issue? The Gamecube pad was fugly, but great. The Dreamcast pad wasn't much to look at either. And the Xbox360 pad isn't an oil painting either, but it's a superb controller. And lets not forgot one of (if not the) best control methods out there - keyboard and mouse. These are hardly supermodels of the controller world eh? Me thinks claiming aesthetics to be such a negative point is straw clutching.

ps3 is more quality and thats the end of it. swooping back onto the 360 after extended ps3 sessions, it becomes apparent. having to load cds into that rickety cd tray by hand and then pushing it back in feels like a step back. it also feels cheap and nasty. nevermind the racket it makes.
ps3 is worth the extra cash for the touch sensitive "buttons" alone.

jesus christ this comment is possibly the most stupid comment i've ever read on these forums and highlights just how f**kin stupid some of these people are. its HD, not VHS or even DVD quality. honestly how many people could notice any difference if there actually was any. its a HD film you are downloading and its a HD film you get. anyone that wants to nitpick that a Blu-Ray disc gives you a tiny bit more quality should be shot or at least neutered so that they can't contaminate the gene pool anymore. honestly if you are using this as a reason why PS3 is better than a 360 you should go check into the local nut-farm because you really are losing a grip on reality.
I cant believe that anybody can say the Xbox 360 looks better than a PS3. Anybody that knows anything about design could tell you that the PS3 looks great! As for noise, my mates one sounds like he's got a train track outside his house. As for controller, its down to personal preference, i think Xbox controllers are possibly better for 1st Person games, where as the ps3 controller is more comfortable when playing 3rd person games. (Only my personal opinion). As for price, you get what you pay for. I cant believe that anybody can say the Xbox 360 looks better than a PS3. Anybody that knows anything about design could tell you that the PS3 looks great! As for noise, my mates one sounds like he's got a train track outside his house. As for controller, its down to personal preference, i think Xbox controllers are possibly better for 1st Person games, where as the ps3 controller is more comfortable when playing 3rd person games. (Only my personal opinion). As for price, you get what you pay for. See, it's comments like this that irk me. ALL of what you have said is just your opinion, or complete fabrication. Anyone that knows anything about design would say the PS3 looks great? Really? maybe you should give up games for a while and go invest in a dictionary and learn how to spell. the fact you can't even spell moron says a lot about you. and if you weren't such a newbie on these forums you possibly would have read my previous posts on another topic where i said i'd never download a film from live OR PSN if they put up a rental service. i've got a Blockbuster just round the corner from me so lets see, 5 mins to go round the corner or 2-3 hours to download a movie. hhhmmmmm big decision. if you have to bring up stuff so trivial just to warrant your choice of machine then i suspect you've got doubts about said purchase in the back of your mind. why don't you just realize that they're both great machines and none of them has any games yet that are so much better on one to warrant that machine being the best. i haven't seen anything done on PS3 that the 360 couldn't handle barring use of disc space ala MGS cutscenes and vice versa. all multiplatform games are usually identical and the exclusives for both machines have been excellent. if you own both consoles its a win win situation.

Is there ANYONE that would disagree that the build quality of the 360 is appalling? It really is - shoddy as hell. Does that make the PS3 automatically 'better' though? What makes a good console in the first place? Build quality? Additional features? Or is it simply the catalogue of games available? I am in no way suggesting one console is better than the other (and nor would I, here), but it's really a subjective issue on what you, personally, attach value to. And nothing more.

OK, there is no need to take everybodies comments so literally. When i mentioned that my freinds 360 "sounded like a train track outside his house", I was simply implying that the noise level is not acceptable for a games console. However the install feature which they have introduced is a great idea! (although the 360 owners felt the need to point this out as a negative feature of the ps3). And when i said about most xbox owners have had 2 consoles, this number "2" is not a precise number, can you prove the exact number!? NO. But with the reported failure rate of the original xbox360 builds reported to be at 60% , coupled with the fact that i dont know a single person (in real life) who has only had 1 360 console, i made the comment about most 360 owners having had 2 consoles. Then again ive already stated that hardware sales dont matter a toss, especially when people compare an arcade 360 price to a ps3 with many more features. Plus, who said i was trying to prove a point!?

Why is it that, when I read the comments section of every single MS related article on any gaming website, it's full of die-hard PS3 fanboys trying to convince Xbox owners that the PS3 is the superior choice? Look boys, it's simple. If we agreed with you, we'd have bought a PS3 instead of a 360. The fact is, the PS3 has the lowest sales of this generation. All of your arguments about accessories, games, online service etc. are not going to affect the sales figures. People are 'voting' with their wallets, and PS3 is dead last, by quite a margin. But, as a few people have pointed out earlier in this forum (and countless others on the web), when you add all the accessories to the Xbox, they are very similarly priced. So, similar products at a similar price makes the sales figures relevant.

I really do think that a lot of people are on the wind up but some of it is pretty relentless, so who knows? Even if there not laughing, I certainly am, as long as the banter dosent get derogatory or personal it should be water off a ducks back to us (adults ).

Not everyone wants or needs stuff like Wi-Fi, Blu-Ray, HDD, LIVE Gold, Wireless controller etc... The problem with your beloved console is that you've had all these things forced upon you, and you're now trying to justify this for Sony by comparing it to external add-on's to 360, in an attempt to make PS3 seem more reasonable in price.
