It's December 8, the year is drawing to a close, and Sony is still keeping tight-lipped over its much-touted plan to release Home before Christmas, despite new reports of its release "in the next 10 days".
With no release date and only weeks to go before the day of turkey-slaughtering and excessive mince pie munching, it's timely release would seem unlikely, but Sony has remained adamant it'll be out this year, and a feature on Times Online appears to agree.
"To try Home, which is slated for release in the next 10 days, players must download a piece of free software from Sony's PlayStation store onto their own PS3," says the site in a article published yesterday.
Maybe they know something the rest of the world doesn't, or there's been some jumping of the gun, but that would mean Home's release will happen by next Wednesday.
As expected, Sony gave us a swift "no comment", but we hope this one's accurate.
It can't be far off. Sony invited over 100,000 people to try out the release version of Home in late November, saying that the public release "will not be far behind".
Had a little go on this at the weekend, bit poo really. I know its still beta but i cant see what all the fuss is about. When going between areas it takes 20-30 secs to load, i just went to the shops to buy as much stuff as i could before they start charging us for it.
after downloading the Beta last week i think i've been on home about twice. the first day i got it and again on saturday after my friend said they'd added stuff(which was only some clothes and a holiday home). if sony are betting on this to sell systems they're gonna have to add a s**t load of stuff to it as its as boring as hell, even with friends.
I think you'll find that Duke Nukem forever is the Chinese Democracy of gaming. You've been waiting 5 minutes for Home, don't even get me started on how long ago I wanted more of the Duke after I finished DN3D
Not that fussed about Home though. I still load up my consoles to play games, not walk about talking to people. It'll be useful when we can walk between booths at events like E3, but for the main part it'll be wasted on me.
Home is like the chinese democracy of software releases.
Chinese Democracy just got released.
After 14 years, 15 million dollars spent, countless revisions and it only came out because Dr Pepper gave every american man woman and child a free drink.
home is the most pointless boring game/whatever ive ever played. got on the beta, opened it once. tried to insult as many people as possaible, with no luck. the majority of what people were saying was " bought a ps3 for blueray, dont really like games" and weirdos trying to chat up the female avatars (97%of which are probly fat old male sex offenders).
just concentrate on getting some decent games out sony, not this tripe........
And who was it that was saying it was ridiculous that Microsoft were charging for extra stuff for your NXE avatars? Sounds like Sony are doing the same thing.

Wow. Nice impression of a braindead bell-end, Collyboy.....
I had a go recently, it is indeed pretty boring and a bit gay.
If you like standing around chatting, going bowling, creating avatars(you create one before entering)then you'll enjoy it. I'm not really sure what the point of it all is. But it's free i guess.
Hmmm... I recently bought a PS3, and to be honest, its the biggest piece of crap I have ever bought. It starts of alright, but, once you have got over the blue ray disk quality, theres little left, but an uninspirring PS2 with a shiny PS3 casing.
So, my point is, is that if nothing good comes out for it soon, (such as home) then it good be already on its way out of my home(no pun intended) before its even settled.

I think the real question is; who actually cares about Home anymore? When it was announced, there was a fair bit of hype but now everyone knows what it actually is and have had hands-on experience through the BETA, everyone has soon lost interest... Personally I'd rather Sony focused their efforts on the gaming aspect of PS3 rather than useless s**te like this.

The argument that there is nothing out on the PS3 peaked about a year ago dude, it's a great piece of kit.
As was pointed out by your username, the Wii is no great shakes.
I think sony got marketing mixed up with being mute. If its out in the next ten days then you would be expecting some kind of advertising or annoucments. If sony think that being tight lipped is hyping the dam thing up then they need to take a realaity check.

People in glass houses.......
Glass houses? What you on about? Oh, and iv had the user name wiikii007 for ages. Its couse I liked zack and wiki. See above post...I do not own a Wii!!!
I've had a go on it, it's okay for what it is - a social tool that is a gateway to other information. It's not a 'game' even though it includes games. There's a fair bit of loading between each section but once it's initially downloaded it speeds up quite alot. The personalisation aspect is just on bare bones at the moment but It will grow very quickly I'd imagine. It has a lot of potential as an information portal. At the end of the day it's just an advertising hub to show case upcoming/released games/films.
It's something different and it's free - why the negative response? If Sony weren't doing anything like this they would be panned for not having any social elements. They are damned if they do, damned if they don't.
Get it, enjoy it - if you don't enjoy it - don't use it. Easy.

I think I love you
I've not tried it yet so I can't say for sure, but I have no interest in a virtual representation of myself, walking around with virtual representations of other people. I'd rather play games. Sorry.
However, if we get live event streaming I'll be standing around in the virtual crowds with everyone else

Funny how two of you have jumped to a completly incorrect conclusion, and then beaten me up about pure fiction. I will say this one last time. I used to own a Wii and sold it for a PS3! I also own a 360, so I am more then entitled to an opinion on the currant gen consoles thanks.
Now go play your PS3s. I'll go play mine (not my wii because I don't have one!) and shut up.
