Work on Gears of War 3 is already well underway at developer Epic Games, claims a rumour in the latest issue of US mag EGM.
According to the mag the third game, which is surely inevitable after the titanic sales of the first two, will be with us for Christmas 2010. What's more, it'll feature a new "five player co-op experience", which we assume means co-op in the main campaign.
It all sounds like a big fan wishlist at this point, but EGM also claims that Epic has a multiplatform horror game in development, a rumour that's already done the rounds once or twice before and could be likely.
Either way, it's looking like the next few years could be busy for old Epic. It's got to do something with all of that Unreal Engine money, after all...
Although its not uncommon for game company reps to lie. In a recent interview the big mouth of gears. Cliffy B specifically stated that there wasn't going to be a 3rd gears for a while.
Its easy to speculate that it'd be out in 2010 because the other two came out about 2 years apart.
Didn't they claim that GoW2 had '5 player co-op' too - and what they meant was Horde? Technically correct but not entirely what we were expecting.
This announcement would be of no surprise to anyone though. The only big surprise tey could lay on us with regards to GoW3 was it wasn't a shooter, or it was coming to PS3.

Yes I'm looking forward to that amouncement. Gears of Wool coming soon to the PS3. If you've got LBP it might be there sooner than you think. If it hasn't already been made.
But what could they replace shooter with. I'm thinking Something akin to Halo Wars.

No offence but you'd be a bloody fool to think that they would finish the fight in 2 how many decent series only have 2 parts. Good stuff comes in Threes. except terminator( i try to block the sequels and bloody awful TV show out of my head)

touche. I think Home Alones a bit like Terminator. There are 4 of em i think, but i don't tlike to think about the later ones.
Because i've heard so many people tell me the 3rd Godfather films crap i'vew ner had the heart to put it in my dvd player and find out.

Sounds bogus to me. Surely MS would rather save Gears 3 as a launch title for the next Xbox? I mean, graphically, they can't really make any major improvements this gen either, which is all the more reason to wait for the next gen and blow us all away.

I think there will be a 3rd Gears this generation. Could be Halo4 or maybe, MAYBE.... Rare is already beavering away with a new Perfect dark for the next xbox (cos it's done 'abit p**s' with this gen!)

The Matrix was in three parts and it sucked.
If you discount the animatrix which was awesome. They probably shouldn't of bothered with anything after the first really. The philosocphical side got to convaluted and the finale in revolutions felt like watching an episode of Draginball Z

I hope it's this gen. I'd have hoped aiming for Xmas 2010 would allow plenty of time for Clifford Bellend to get the Survival Horror thing out of the way and still work on Gears 3. There's loads to work on that doesn't need the lead designers 100% involvement.

Yes but Epic are still using Unreal Engine 3.0 and UE 4.0 won't be ready until around 2010.
So a Gears 3 for this generation is more likely, otherwise it'll be late 2011
