'Warcraft restaurant' opens in Beijing

With dishes named after WoW characters
The world's obsession with World of Warcraft has gone a step further, as the doors of a 'World of Warcraft restaurant' open in Beijing, China.

The interior of the dining room is totally inspired by Blizzard's MMO, with ceilings and walls littered with artwork from the game. Giant plasma screens even display footage from WoW, and the entrance is designed as a real-life recreation of the game's opening menus.

The menu selection is even named after characters from Blizzard's game and the dining area is called the Hall of Snow Storms. Epic.

The owner of the restaurant said he created the WoW restaurant in the hope that people who share his enthusiasm for the game would find a "comfortable gathering place". Other than the Games Workshop we reckon.

We've got a feeling this isn't official. Get some lunch here if you're in town before Acti-Blizzard stamps it down.

Watch a video of the Warcraft restaurant on CCTV.

What...the...hell...

Why would someone do this. I find it very unlikely that regular folks would go to this restaurant, which means we'll probably see it on Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares in 6 months.

God Damn it i left china too soon.

For those of you that don't know. China is f**king mad for WOW.

I went out there for a couple months last year to teach and it was really cool. Being a wow fan.

There are adverts for it on all the billboards, Hell even Coke out there has pictures of Blood Elves on it. Pretty much every net cafe and there are many, offer somekind of WOW based service.

In short this restraunt will be a huge hit.

Possibly. It will also likely face a huge legal liability unless it reaches some sort of royalties payment agreement with Activision and Blizzard.

I dunno. China is pretty much a mecca for bootleg. well everything.

True. I seem to recall seeing a news report where some of the more "official" Chinese boot leggers were complaing of other boot leggers boot legging them. Oh the irony. Laughing

I've been to this restaurant on my last trip to Beijing.. the food was Ok... I still prefer my cold pizza and red bull while playing. Lol... You know what would be cool? thats if they like give you fake wow gold at the entrance and then thats what you would use to pay for your meal after. Laughing
