Ubisoft will publish a special edition remake of Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars on Wii and DS.
The new 'Director's Cut' version of the game is said to build on the original, with new narrative "interwoven with the first story", according to Ubisoft.
"New puzzles have been added for Nintendo DS and Wii that specifically utilize Nintendo's unique control methods. The game also features stunning animated facial expressions drawn by Dave Gibbons, the artistic genius behind the comic book and upcoming movie, Watchmen," says the official blurb.
The game kicks off with you controlling photo-journalist Nicole Collard "who witnesses the brutal and horrifying murder of one of Paris's richest and most influential statesmen.
"During her investigations, which feature exclusive new locations, Nico meets amiable American George Stobbart, who has been unwittingly caught up in the sinister and bloody theft of an ancient manuscript. Together, they are drawn into a terrifying conspiracy rooted in a long-forgotten medieval legend."
From what we remember, Shadow of the Templars was all good, so put this on your 'ones to look forward to' list. Both versions are due next March.
Really looking forward to this as I thought the PS2 "Sleeping Dragon" game was ace. There are quite a few Wii games being released around Feb/Mar time, I don't know why some of them aren't in the shops now for Xmas. I am not exactly inundated with games for my Wii right now.
I would just like to take this opportunity to state that this game is INCREDIBLE and still the best in the Broken Sword series.
Very funny, incredibly well written and incredibly satisfying when you work something out.
With Sam and Max and now this - could the Wii be breathing life back into the class PnC Adventure games? If so, then it's the only reason i can think to get one - when the price drops to sub-100quid.
THIS IS A DEFINATE MUST BUY FOR ME. Shadow of the templars is one of the best adventure games ever made. Hope they remake the sequel as well.
HOw about making a new wii exclusive broken sword. its the perfect console for adventure games as both sam and max and zack and wiki has already proven.
didn't any one notice the Salah Eh Dinn!?! in the newspaper?
That's what all the arabs shout in Assasins Creed!
"Praise he Salah Eh Dinn!"
lol
Although spelt different in the game. Same thing!
Don't you just love in game references! Like Driver 3s Timmy Vermicelli with arm bands and GTA:SA where they shout "Tanner, YOU SUCK ASS!" lol
The proper spelling is Salah ad Dinn, who most of us are more likely to know of as Saladin. He was the leader of the Islamic faction during the third Crusade, which is of course the time period Assassin's Creed is set in... so it's no real surprise that he's mentioned in that game. In fact, it would be rather bizarre if he wasn't!
Also, both games involve conflict between the Knights Templar and the Hashashins, a conflict which originated during the time of the Crusades when the two groups were (obviously) on opposing sides. So it isn't really surprising that the Islamic leader during perhaps the most famous of the Crusades (considering it also involved Richard the Lion Heart) should be mentioned in Broken Sword, either .
Great news - Broken Sword 1 is still one of the best adventures ever released (got it and number 2 from Game for 99p the other week on PC!) and it looks like they're doing it slightly differently. which is good.
Does anyone know if Revolution are involved? I read in an interview a few months ago that Revolution comprises of Charles Cecil only at the moment.
I'm looking forward to this as well. Sometimes I'm wary of getting a game I've played before on a new format if it's just a basic port, but this sounds worthwhile.
When I read that this was getting a Wii and DS outing I thought it sounded strange that it wasn't a Broken Sword collection of all 4 games in one, or at least the first 2 due to their age, but this news would suggest it's just probably justified to stand alone, though I'd still have prefered the collection in one game as I never bought the 3rd or 4th games.
A Ł20 price for this would certainly make it essential.
Vampyre - I really can't imagine that Cecil won't have had some involvement in this.
This will be sweet! I loved the 2d style of the first 2 games but didn't like the move to 3d... the puzzles were too easy to solve in the 3d ones and the locations were barren compared to the detailed environments of 1 and 2. I didn't even like MI in 3d... The only 3d point and click that I've enjoyed was Grim Fandango. That was absolutely brilliant.
Back to BS, that bloody goat... (took me ages to get passed him!)
The goat scenario is a classic, well-known annoying puzzle.
But it was bettered in annoyance terms when you had to throw a bun with syrup into a hedge in Broken Sword 2 - I tried everything for ever, and then discovered I had to 'double click' for it to work, whereas throughout the whole of the game and the prequel it was single click activations...
Although it wasn't a double-click as such, you had to throw the bun in the bush twice. A friend of mine and I sat up all night on my dad's computer trying to get past that until we eventually called the help line tel. number in the manual to find the answer.
Lol, The amount of time I dedicated to those games. I spent ages just trying to combine things in my inventory with "No I don't think that'll work" being repeated at me! They are the MOST satisfying games to complete. Just gotta find the time to complete the 4th one...
