id Software will hold its annual QuakeCon event from August 13-16, 2009, in Dallas, Texas at the Hilton Anatole Hotel.
Described by the developer as "the world's ultimate video game festival and party", QuakeCon 2009 will, as always, be free, although plane tickets to the States aren't usually cheap.
The event will host North America's largest bring-your-own-computer LAN party, according to id, with places for almost 3,000 gamers to hook their systems up and play on the company's network.
There'll be "big-money pro tournaments", featuring id Software's new free-to-play, web-based Quake Live, and the event will also offer plenty in the way of entertainment for those that don't want to take their computer, with "contests, entertainment, announcements, panel discussions, and parties" each day.
There'll also be plenty of gaming and technology companies exhibiting upcoming products in the 35,000 square foot venue.
Online registration for QuakeCon will begin at 9:30pm EST/6:30pm PST (that's 2:30am over here) on March 6, 2009, while the Hilton Anatole is now taking room reservations for the event.
Does that 400 quid include airfare? If so then it's extremely cheap; I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I wager that's the costs of just staying at the hotel during the convention alone. Transportation in the form of flying between airports, driving to and from airports, tips, etc. not included.
