Couple's Christmas Day brawl over Wii

Bloke didn't want a Wii
A couple were arrested in New Hampshire, USA after having a violent Christmas Day brawl over the boyfriend's new Wii. Apparently it wasn't the gift he was hoping for.

Portsmouth police said tempers flared because the boyfriend, 26-year-old Heath Blom wanted a remote-controlled airplane for Christmas, and instead got a Wii from his girlfriend.

"He said he hated it... When he didn't get the plane, he got really upset. He acted like a 10-year-old kid," said girlfriend Randi Young, who promptly packed her bags and set off to leave home... but not before punching him in the face.

"I stood in the doorway trying to block her. She punched me in the eye. She punched me three times. I said 'That's it.' And I pulled her hair," said boyfriend Blom.

"He dragged me down two flights of stairs, by the hair," claimed the missus.

Police were called to the home where the couple lived with Blom's grandparents and officers arrested the pair upon observing bruises on each of them.

Ricky Young Sr., 52, said Blom and his daughter, who he said was left with a "knot on her head" and a swollen nose, "fight like little kids. . . But to fight on Christmas, of all days. That's crazy."

She could've just kept the receipt (unless she bought it at Woolworths...)

To be honest, he deserved it.

Sure, he may not have wanted a Wii but there was no need to act like a tw*t about it. We've all been given gifts we don't want, but had to grin and bear it until we could remedy the situation.

And the muppet should have considered the fact that maybe the missus wanted to play it herself. And he could encourage nekkid Wii playing. That is win right there.

He wanted a remote control plane and cryed whe nhe didnt get it? Im supirsed he didnt go on an armed rampage.

Which happens to be the UK Business which has gone bust.

So he pulled her down 2 flights of stairs, she should have grabbed his hair and dragged him up 2 flights of stairs. Rolling Eyes

When she punched him, the only logical mistake he made was not to punch her back HARDER. Very Happy

What's the bet that they're back together again in a couple of weeks? Then again... Laughing

... but seriously.

I'd guess he did consider that. Many couples don't even like each other that much, but feel compelled to stay because they're too scared to leave? For immature people, it can take a big bang event such as this to force a break up... Just don't make the mistake of getting back together again!

She knew what she was doing buying him that Wii.

Anyway, CVG... Games?

Too true, I bet any money he was the N64 kid

If he'd acted like a 10-year-old kid, he woulda been pleased to get a Wii. But since he's an adult...

@Dajmin I dont think anybody deserves to be punched in the face for no reason. Would you like it if I hit you because you made a stupid comment? Exactly.

On one hand, a man hits a woman and he's supposed to be ashamed, a women does it and all she can say is "he deserves it". To be honest though they both sound like a couple of t**s though, and im sure they'll be back together in a few weeks likes everyone thinks.

The difference is that the average man could do severe damage to the average woman with one punch in the face but the average bloke should easily take a punch from the average woman then again its fairly easy to restrain a girl and not resort to hitting her.
If you're willing to hit a girl it says a lot about your character, I.E you're a cat bottom w****r!
No matter how hard my Gf tries to hit I never hit back.
The fact that the ungrateful yank snooker cue blocked her way and wouldn't let her out says he did deserve it and he deserves a proper punch for dragging her by her hair.

Lol - shower gel and spray doublepacks- the gift that says "I couldn't even be bothered to think about what to get you"

The Wii really brings families together like no console before it.

Yeah toiletries are the most depressing presents. You might as well give someone a lump of coal and a tangerine, at least it's traditional or maybe some household detergents, it's something different. If you get given toiletries & household detergents you know you've got problems.

I completely disagree with everything you wrote except the part about it being unseemly to strike a woman (barring certain extreme situations - i.e. self-defense or a situation where life or death is at stake for yourself or someone else). While it is generally true that on average men tend to be physically stronger than women that in no way translates into a woman not being able to do physical harm. Besides, some women are close to, equally, or even stronger than some men. It is a blatant double standard to say it's okay for a woman to hit a man and not vice versa. Neither is generally acceptable.

All that said, I find it in extremely poor form of the fellow in question to go apoplectic about the Christmas gift he received from his girlfriend.
The_KFD_Case on 5 Jan '09
To me, it sounds like the pair of them deserve each other.

I am in the opinion that it is equally wrong for a woman to strike a man as it is for a man to strike a woman. My ex used to lose her temper with me all the time and hit out at me (One night she smashed a bottle over my head. That was the final straw of course) Just because I was not scared of her and her attacks didn't particularty hurt, doesn't take the fact away that it was domestic violence. When I even told her this she just snorted and shrugged it off.
