Microsoft's official Xbox Live mouthpiece, Major Nelson, has coughed up the definitive word on what the most played game on Xbox Live was in 2008.

If you remember the almost-weekly stories about how the most-played game kept swinging between Halo 3 and Call Of Duty (Modern Warfare and then World At War) then first and second place won't come as any surprise. Or will it? Nah.

We think putting Fable II in at 11 is a bit of a cheat as the game automatically logs you in to Live so you can watch orbs floating around your single-player game. Lots of demo action in there too.
