PreviousBig PS3 exclusive revealing next month? PS3 sales jump 130% over Christmas  Next

Insomniac: Killzone 2 is "awesome"

Resistance 2 dev talks about Sony's other big shooter
Killzone 2, Sony's big upcoming exclusive FPS from Guerrilla Games, has received praise from Insomniac, developer of PS3's other big exclusive FPS Resistance 2.

James Stevenson, Insomniac's community manager has finished the game, and hit internet forums to voice his opinion:

"I did indeed beat KZ2 tonight and it is indeed awesome," he said, adding: "I know there will be plenty of comments, opinions, accolades and nitpicks, but for me, the game was fun."

He went on to voice his highlight of the title, although it's vague for obvious reasons: "My favorite part of the game was when you get this certain weapon," he said on NeoGAF. We're hoping the weapon is a rapid-fire nuclear missile launcher.

He is clearly in agreement, then, with the US Official PlayStation Magazine, which has just given the game a perfect 5/5 score, as we reported yesterday.

Previous PS3 dev complimenting another PS3 dev, wonder how much he was paid.

Demo for Europe at the start of Feb.

Also, it looks like God of War has been showing off his muscles again. A Fallout 3 developer has been drooling about it. Surely that's high praise.

I'm very excited about this game - I watched gameplay videos etc and they blew me away!

Yeah. Even though the first game was pump, and even though it still may have faults, i'm very excited.

Visually it looks like the best game i've ever seen.

I played a pre betaa a couple of months ago and it was amazing - no glitching, easy and responsive controlls and awesome visuals. Going to be a good un!

He was thinking about the potential, he hasn't seen it.

"I’m most looking forward to the coming instalments of PlayStation series that haven’t seen a true next generation debut – namely God of War and Final Fantasy. Everything I’ve seen on the new Final Fantasy games has looked fantastic, and I feel faint when I think of the potential of a PS3 God of War game."

Another f**king fps woo yeah. i like playing the same genre of games constantly.

there's a limited amount you can do with the genre move shoot repeat.

Am i the only one getting bored of this.

Please Sony, Microsoft anyone can you please stop touting the same bland s**t and give us something actually new and exciting....

probably not.

Despite being another damn fps, it does still look like a fine example of the breed and the start of a year of quality exclusives for sony.

I can because i also said i was getting bored of the genre. Meaning on the whole i want something completely different in games in general, but as an example of the genre killzone 2 is shaping up to be fantastic.

I'm starting to think you either

a) write for a tabloid or..

B) read them far too much.

Because you have a fantastic habit of misinterpreting or misquoting what someone has said blowing it out of all proportion or manipulating it for your own sad little ends.

@LordvonPS3.. thanks for the tip. Flower looks rather interesting.
WHERESMYMONKEY on 6 Jan '09
Insomniac helped Guerilla develop the AI for Killzone 2, so they are in fact floored by their own work. Nice trumpet blowing smokescreen there boys

Embarassed
PeteTheFeet on 6 Jan '09
why were guerilla games in the credits for resistance 2?
i hope the killzone 2 singleplayer is better than the resistance singleplayer. awful in my opinion
ps3fan on 6 Jan '09
I am jealous of the fact that CVG are probably blasting through the game right now. Sad

I have to admit to setting myself the unenviable task of finishing Resistance 2 100%. I'm at 33%. Superhuman difficulty will be mine.....

pot, kettle, black there with that. If you're so offended by PS3 stories stop reading them.

Can I just say that A: I played the beta and it was ok, fairly good, solid, reasonably fun. NOT LIFE CHANGING, and B: Where as Microsoft has plenty of room 'in it's pipe', Sony's is crammed full of Gear of War, Fable, Mass Effect and any number of stone cold killer titles on 360.

Your blinkered vision of reality is... Interesting. For those who aren't fan boys and just want good games on ALL the consoles, and as such I really hope Killzone is good. Prediction? It will be, but I don't think it's going to do anything drastically new (as WHERESMYMONKEY said, it is an FPS after all) and I certainly don't think the CoD's and Halo's of this world will have too much to worry about.

Sony, if you are listening, great start for 2009, but keep it up now please, it's about time PS3 started to deliver.

woo, hyped for this game, gonna be amazin, prob the next best FPS since cod 4 imo plus we got mw 2 this year Very Happy, but i cant wait for killzone 2, one of the best lookin FPS i seen, glad its on ps3

If it's only a FPS and you're not a fanboy why concerned about COD and Halo?
Seriously doubt you even played the beta or you would know it's better than COD.

Weird. You have a good grasp of the English language, yet you don't seem able to read. Guess the Sony Defense Force is strong within you!

Can someone tell me what the controls are like on GoW? Is it anything like Ninja Gaiden? This game interests me as I love my Greek mythology.

flimflam is an appropriate name...

i.e. s**t talker.

who said this was gonna be life changing??! all i want is a shining example of the best game genre out (FPS) looks like we got it here!

your arguement about enjoy games on all consoles maybe wouldve been valid if you didnt just go show your true colors and creamed your little panties over MS's amazing GOW, fable etc (which arent microsofts anyway!)

i actually have a 360, i just ignore it for the better system. i thought i would get rid of the hoover noise by installing the game on it... just wasted 9GB and gained an even more annoying sound crackling noise. truly an appalling console.
