Update: Sony has just confirmed that Killzone 2 will launch on our shores on Feb. 25. Get excited Europe, that's a whole two days before the US launch.
Sony has confirmed to CVG that the Killzone 2 demo, being released in the US on a pre-order-only basis, will be released on the UK PS Store in the "normal manner", i.e. free for all to play.
Over in US, eager beavers will need to front cash for a pre-order at retailer GameStop, in exchange for a download code that'll snag them the demo.
This offer, as Edge-Online reports, will begin on February 3, and will remain limited to pre-orders until the game's release on February 27, after which the demo will be opened to everyone.
In the UK, however, Sony has told CVG: "We are getting [the demo] but it will be released via the normal manner on the PSN," meaning there's no pre-order necessary over here.
It couldn't confirm the release date for the demo, but the "normal manner" would insinuate its PSN release before the full game hits retailers.
We doubt it'll be on February 3 though, because US gamers will simply download it from our store and that'd mess up SCEA's plans.
All I said was Call of Duty, I gave no numbers! Though even so, why not? It looks very nice, plays well and if the single player holds up to the aforementioned franchise then it could well do.
obvioulsy its the enigma that sees halo so esteemed. not the actual game i think. CoD4 is a much better shooter than halo, but it still seems to be in its shadow.
this will make up for the abomination that was haze!
...I’m not sure why anyone would compare it to Halo
Because it's a platform-exclusive futuristic FPS with humans battling aliens. Other than that, no idea
I think Halo is the best comparison they could hope for.
I thought they were not aliens, merely humans who have…changed. I no not the mythology behind it so don’t take that as gospel.
I’m thinking more the way it plays, the use of iron sights with the guns and the realistic nature of it lends itself much more to the Call of Duty series than it does to Halo. This is irrespective of what platform it is on as that does not bother me in the slightest.

I am jonesing for this game big time, I'm quite happy that it was delayed because of the normal lull we encounter at this time of year.
And another thing, stop with the f*cking baiting, its annoying and idiotic. This game is gonna kick bottom, why compare it to 360 titles, can't we all just... get along?

Apparently not it looks like I'm afraid, some people are just too devoted to their chosen console. It's so bad that any critisism no matter if constructive is seen as an attack on a bloody machine built to play games. That goes for the zealots on both sides of the playground wall.
I don't want a Halo killer or a COD4 killer, simply a damn good game that brings a smile, adrenalin rush and other decent gaming emotion. I want the game to make me believe the Helghast are a worthy foe and when completed it gives me the 'tingles' and to do it all over again in a harder setting or online. If KZ2 does that, then the developers have done their job in my eyes and then I look forward to the next chapter in us V them (Helghast) fiction. Amen.
Wow! I didnt realise KZ2 had 9 million pre orders waiting to get shipped, it truly is the Halo Killer.
Why cant you just enjoy your game, on its own merit, without having to justify it to yourself?
You may jest about the numbers, but Sony is expecting sales to best Metal Gear Solid 4.
As for the game - overall, it is a CoD4 / Halo / <insert here> beater! KillZone 2 is the finest FPS to-date! Infinity Ward will do well to match it's brilliance in late '09 and fair enough if that game does it, but in the meantime, millions of PS3 owners will be enjoying KillZone 2.
KillZone 2 is going to put in some good sales figures.
haven't you shot yourself yet? or damaged your person in some sort of back yard wrestling maneuver?
*cross's fingers and holds breath*
Ex squeeze me? Shot myself? Damaged in back yard westling? Eh?
Aah, I remember you, sorry, I forgot you were a Loonball of the highest order. Forget your meds today did we? Dont worry, im sure a few of your friends will be here soon to give you some of theirs, oh look there here already. Sad, sad really really sad!
2 days before the US, eh? Lucky us. That's 2 whole days of poking fun at my American friends. Hehe.
Shame we've hads to wait eons for SFIIHD though. Not that I am particularly bothered myself as I could just download the 360 version - but for others it must be getting frustrating. I'd have probably bought the PSN version myself, but with SF4 so near to release, I'm not going to bother now. Poop.
I believe the new Lord of the rings demo is out today. May give it a try. I'll most certainly be giving the HOME Red Bull plane game a spin though.
