Blimey! Games bought out

Ex-SimBin devs saved from administration
Blimey! Games, the racing studio made up mostly of ex-SimBin employees, has been saved from administration by London-based Slightly Mad Studios, who has acquired all of the business and assets.

Blimey!, responsible for PC race sim GTR and an impressive-looking XBLA and PSN kart racer, went all Woolies and had the administrators round early this month, after parent company 10tacle Studios went bust.

Thankfully, with the sale complete and even more bonkers name adopted, it looks like all is well at the studio.

"We kept things going as long as possible because of the amazing work the team was doing on our one surviving project and the patience of our publisher," commented Ian Bell, the former director of Blimey!

"However it was commercially unsustainable and it soon became clear that unless decisive action was taken we would lose that. This sale has ended months of uncertainty and worry for all concerned. We can now look forward to the development of our exciting existing and future projects."

I remember seeing a couple of screenshots of the PSN/XBL Kart Racer a while back and was pretty impressed, fingers crossed this game gets to see the light of day.
