As we previously reported, the demo will allow you to shoot your way through the first two sections of Corinth River, the first level in the full game, which is out on February 27.
This portion of the game gives you a taster of the tutorial and a hectic shoot-out as you head along a beach towards a warehouse.
We suspect that every one of the 1.1 million people who've pre-ordered the game in Europe will be waiting to download it, plus however many bez-illions in the US, so you should probably get in there quick.
I'm a bit gutted as I sold my ps3, to be honest I never used it and spent most time on the 360...but it looks like there are some really good titles coming out on it now, kill zone looks amazing, along with LBP and home looks quite cool....if they drop the price I could be tempted to buy another one. Until then the 360 will keep me amused.
I thought I was the first to discover this, I may pass the odd PS3 bias accusation to CVG but this is why I keep comin back, straight in there and 100% up to date on news. Good going CVG. Now stop being bias and review your KZ 2 review lol.
Great day for demos just played KZ2 and loved it even tho am not a FPS fan normally! after bioshock and resistance maybe this will complete my conversion.

Just finished playing it and must say I'm impressed. I disliked the first one with a passion for unknown reasons. I would have liked to play the MP a bit. Can't wait until the 27th now
I think a lot of it was me getting used to the different controls compared to COD such as 'sticky' aim. The scroll sped is the same when aiming as when you're not (or atleast the change isn't as significant as COD). The sensitivity feels very wierd, even when i change it, when you move and scroll at the same time, something feels ... wrong.
Not a fault of the game as such, i'm just warning you COD players. The demo was quite good IMO, if a little short. The little touches such as the gun making a different noise when you're running out of ammo are nice too, it means you don't get loads of on screen furniture. The visuals weren't bad, but not what they've been hyped up to be. I can't quite imagine how this will play out online, i think the amount of health you get will change the gameplay style hugely. (ofcourse.)
I've started downloading mine, started it at 4:20, i checked it at 6:30, it was at 25%. But f**k it, i've ordered it off play.com, can't wait to try it out.

Something wrong there, is that on wireless?
Played through it a few times now, it's bloody good. Controls take a bit of time to get used to. Sorry CVG to rate this game less that Farcry 2 is totally wrong.
oh dear i'll never get back the hour n a half it took to download!!!! i had high hopes for Killzone2 but the demo is such a let down it took about 7 mins to complete on my first run thru. oh i hope the full game puts this poor demo to shame. wonder why they didnt put a multiplayer demo on it too?? would it crash psn due to so much demand and hype?
admittidly it does look good, and doesnt play too bad, but so much more could hav been done with the demo
Polished game from what i saw of the demo even though it reminded me of the old medal of honour game.
But to someone who has a very powerful sli setup pc, i was slightly disappointed. The graphics are good but not as good as i was expecting(i only have a 1080i hdtv though). Bound to be better on 1080p.
This is not a criticism of this game on the ps3(same goes for all console fps games)but it felt sluggish to me with the pad(i'm so used to the mouse on these type of games on pc). The framerate looked rock solid though, but so it should be at only 30fps. It just showed me how much better pc games running at 60fps are on these type of fps games(so much smoother).
Not as good as i was expecting(it's only a demo after-all)but i'll still get it.

If you think thats bad mines wireless started downloading at 5.30 now 9 only 50% complete.
Bloody good demo, if too short. Cover system will take some getting used to, and like many reviewers have said, the sluggish movement and erratic gun sprays from continous fire are also something that I'm going to have to master.
And if I may be so bold, the inculsion of The Flower Duet from Lakme for the death pirouettes at the end, a small touch of genius and class.
Just finished the demo twice, all i can say is to all you doubters out there-believe the hype it is that good! Plays nice ,feels nice the way games should be.If the multi-player is as good as cod4,then Sony have a winner with this one.

There's something wrong there. I started the Halo Wars demo which is the same size as the Killzone one, downloading as soon as I got in from work at about half six, and as it was downloading I booted up the PS3 and started KZ downloading. KZ took about 15-20 minutes to download and in the time it took Halo Wars to get to 25% downloaded I'd already Downloaded, installed and booted up KZ.
Its weird because i downloaded resi 5 the other day and that took 2 and a half hours, however i downloaded killzone 2 tonight in about an hour and 10 mins, its still shockingly bad but quicker for a bigger file.
I liked the demo, though yes it was very short, ive only played it through once so far though.
People shouldnt moan that there wasnt much in the demo, i think this demo is only here to give us a slight insight into the game and tease us a little, i think no matter what sony know it will sell well. Same as resi 5, the demo seemed to have put so many people off the demo and yet capcom know it will sell well.
Either way ive got mine pre-ordered for a brilliant Ł30 from play.com
finally got to play the demo after waiting hours for it to download and i was very, very disapointed! Extremly over hyped IMO, felt sluggish even with sensitivity turned up, graphics ok not spectacular like I was expecting and you cant swap your pistol for another decent gun, it just drops the rifle you've got! WTF! Had its good moments though but still its massivly over hyped, Resistance 2 is better IMO, im not in a hurry to buy this!!! Maybe online will make up for though
Demo sucks not getting the game anymore unless I try the mp demo and thats good, seriously took twice aslong as Halo Wars to download and seriously like 10 minutes of easy, grey, average crap with no mp and only one difficulty. On the other hand since some one brought up a comparison Halo Wars was awesome can't wait to get it now nice demo couple of missions, tutorial and MP soo deep and yet natural feels like Halo. So yeah after thinking Halo Wars releasing a demo may be a mistake due to all the critisisim and not being able to wait to play Killzone 2 I've totally flipped now I've acctually played them.

Well now 23.20 finally downloaded only took 6 hours 50 minutes got to be a record.
Absolutely fantastic game! I thought that the controls were pretty decent (I did play the beta previously) and I kept them as standard. Shooting the baddies reminded me of Goldeneye, that glee you get from a good headshot, or popping them in the leg to put them down. I can understand why some people are disappointed with the demo as it was way too short, but it left me really wanting more.
What impressed me the most was that even though there was only one difficulty level to choose from, I found that on my 3rd go, the baddies in the warehouse used different tactics and crept up behind me to kill me! Cool stuff.
Oh, and when one particular Helghast shouted "F**k me!", when I threw a grenade his way was priceless! p**s funny.
The visuals are great but the gameplay was the star in my eyes.
found it at 4pm, told everyone on my PSN list (well, that was online at the time), went back to the store and went WTF!!!!!? everything from Killzone 2 demo, the burnout upgrade and everything else had vanished from the store then appeared again a couple mins later, must've have been a slight glitch/error at the time. wasnt happy at the time anyway as i've stopped it at 12% and to go to work for 7 hours.
Took 2.5 hours to download on my 20mb connection. Sad to say, it wasn't worth it. Just looks like another standard fps. Even the graphics don't look too special. Good, but not outstanding (several graphical glitches). I know it's only a demo, so hopefully the final game will be better.

i was going to post the exact same thing, the controls when you turn felt clunky to me (almost like trying to turn whilst stuck in treacle) and i wacked the sensitivity right up and it seemed to do nothing, maybe ill get used to it and really get on with the game but the turning speed does seem like it sort of winds itself up to be able to turn, im still getting it as i want to try the multiplayer. that said ive been playing cod5 for ages and when i go back to halo it seems slower at turning, maybe its just me being to used to cod. hopefully happy days from 2 weeks on tuesday when it arrives from shopto.net (they always ship on the monday before release).

PC superiority complex is a serious illness. There's no known cure.
2 anybody hating on this game plzzz plzzz just buy so i can shoot u in the face this is what games should be even if the demo was short it still kicked ass so bring it on you douche bags
just amazing. even better than i did expect. for everyone who is complaining about the controls are just being lazy - they are very good when you get hang of them! why the hell should all the games play the same, what would there to be mastered then?.
visually it delivers 100% for me, playing with 42" plasma 1080i, no complaints. 5.1 audio kicks ass, wife told me couple of times to tune it down for the sake of neighbours and hers, couldn't do it - sorry missus and neighbours.
too short demo? it's a demo fcs. better than nothing isn't it? atleast now i'm just wanting more and more, can't wait for mp. and about the download time it was 20.00gmt+2 when i started downloading and took me 25mins with 8mb connection..
Took me about 40 mins 4MB conn to ge this last night at about 6ish. Played only for a little while last night, busy with real life stuff will play properly tonight. Visually very nice.

From the ten minutes I played I felt the same about the turning controls, but as I said in previous post I will play a lot more later.

There is another illness the 'I love my chosen console to the death syndrome'. Where by no matter how constructive or valid a critsism is it is met with stroppy name calling.
quite impressed! demo was to short for my taste but felt just like a juiced up version of COD4, everything had a great sense of weight to it, fantastic animations and effects. Switched the controls to a more COD style and had zero problems with it or the cover system.

Gotta agree with you on HW (sorry for hijacking the KZ2 thread!). I already had it pre-ordered on the hope it turned out good. It exceeded my expectations, it just felt so natural. Ensemble, you did a great job. I just hope the guys who are staying at the Xbox division get a chance to put the tech to more use.
20.00gmt+2 when i started downloading and took me 25mins with 8mb connection..
20 minutes to download last night as well. Check your signal strength if it's taking too long.
wasn't complaining, just wondering why peeps keep blaming sony for their connection problems. i'm totally happy ~20min / 1,2GB.. and i even got crappy wireless router that takes signal distress when walking by .
I wasn't sure about kz2 to be honest, i've still got games from crimbo i've not managed to play yet!!!
The demo though short is easily the best non-cod shooter on PS3. Found the controls strange at first but who doesn't when it's a new game. Changed to a more familiar COD set-up and I was away!
Graphically it's as good as PS3 currently gets I think and shows that when devs get to grips with PS3 it's a good machine allround. I'll be defo getting this on release now, I just hope the servers can cope with the demand on release day for some MP action!!!
I must say i was impressed with this demo after getting use to the controls. People having been knocking it and comparing it to COD which has produced many quality FPS, which in my opinion is not really fair as it's Guerrilla's second attempt at a FPS.
Heads up to the person who posted that Play.com are selling Killzone 2 for Ł30 on a preorder - bargin

First game or one hundreth game, it doesn't matter - comparisons are gonna happen with established heavy hitters.
Also, 'COD' haven't produced many quality FPSs. Call of Duty is a franchise, not a game developer... A franchise that was made by two different developers (thus far).
liked the demo took a while getting used to and the AI of the helghast is immense even on medium the only thing I'd change is the cover system you shouldnt have to hold the button it would be better if you just click it once and click it again to come off.
I liked the demo a lot, and it feels gritty with great animations as well. However i cannot see how is this hailed as one of the best looking games ever when COD4 looks just as good, running at 60fps and its shows the difference clearly. No matter, this is a buy for me.
Im leaving these forums if one more CoD whore moans about Killzone 2 controls not being the same as their beloved Call of Duty. Oh and turning speeds, you all need to shut up with your whiney complaints about minor issues and enjoy the game.

Oh and I was just going to post that the demo is very good but the controls could be better in the fact the deadzone seems large maybe there will be an option to fine tune it in the final game hopefully as I feel it is too slow. Each to their own at the end of the day.
Visually the game is fantastic better than gears 2? in my opinion yes not saying gears is a slouch visually far from it but I prefered KZ2 in the graphics dept. Seems smooth enough to play and plays nice barring my own niggles with the controls.

I'm getting it for sure no doubt about it, only took me 20 mins with an 8mb connection to get this. Those that took longer you best stay away from porn sites its screwing up your computer personally I think they are just trying to have a pop just like the rest of the haters pretending to have a ps3 to slag off Killzone 2 I almost feel ashamed for them.... almost

20 mins FFS it takes my connection literally 10 hours to download 1Gb. I've to leave the bastard things on overnight!!

its more than likely down to poor distribution to users on PSN's side of things (how dare he suggest such a thing), my mate works for a company called capgemini and his job is purely to look after servers for the likes of the houses of parliament and a nuclear power station amoung other clients and it was his feeling that this was the problem. it took me 2 attempts at downloading the demo, first time the download ran into an error at around 50% and it couldnt be resumed after so i then tried again and it took 3hrs to download, my mate took 20 mins, another mate 2hrs, another mate took 45 mins (connections ranged from 8mb to 50mb connections on each household) ).... just to test the theory out i deleted my demo of killzone, then redownloaded it at 3pm yesterday (a lot less people would be downloading it then), this time it took 23 mins to download, this was because most people were either at work or at school in Europe, its not peoples connections, its PSN performing poorly because of the massive load of users that were downloading from 5pm into the early hours, each person in europe who had a ps3 account was more than likely trying to download it and thats a lot of people. eitherway, i didnt mind waiting the initial 3hrs to play the demo as i had other things to be getting on with like most other people in the real world....
