Ex-Ensemble veterans including co-founder Tony Goodman have formed a new studio called Robot Entertainment.
Robot is the first of two studios said to be rising from the ashes of the now-closed Age of Empires developer, though it's unclear who will be responsible for Halo Wars' post-release patches and housework.
Speaking on ex-Ensemble staff's future at the new developers, ex-studio boss Bruce Shelley said: "There were a lot of outstanding game developers [at Ensemble] and it will be interesting to see how and what they do, both individually and as new groups, in the years ahead.""
Microsoft closed the developer in what it called a "a fiscally-rooted decision that keeps [Microsoft Game Studios] on its growth path."
Ensemble's last game, Halo Wars, is out in Europe next week on Friday, February 27.
i hope they try to make better games now since the massive failure that was their last game
Age of Empires III wasn't that bad...
it was and that was not the game i am talking about
Keep dreaming - Halo Wars is bloody good and will sell millions, I guarantee it (it's got the Halo name on, after all). This game was a more than suitable swan song for Ensemble.
It's the post release patches/content that has me worried - where's it gonna come from? Will there actually be any at all?
you ps3 fan-boy snooker cue the game isn't even out yet and you call it crap that's the bitter voice of someone that bought the wrong machine you spend so much time posting on this site than actually playing on your toaster sorry ps3
Good to know they still in buisness and looking forward to whatever they release next, as i am big fan of the Age of Empires series and looking forward to Halo Wars, so good luck to them.
i have played the demo and i have jugded it to be crap and the mona lisa is a very overrated painting
As you don't own a 360, why do you care? Also, wishing people to be out of work because they made a game that, in your eyes, was poor is pretty immature, don't you think?

i did not wish them to be out of work i said i hope they have better luck when they are making their next game which will hopefully be better

Better luck? How well has Halo Wars sold then?
jackass i can see the standard to which you were educated was very low
Says the guy who can't spell, use punctuation, grammar, write coherantly, etc etc.
i will have you know i speak and write good english but when i am on the internet i type fast and i don't check to see if i made any mistakes.
Take it from me, you make a lot. Besides, typos are one thing, lack of grammar, punctuation and incoherance are something entirely different - and I can only assume the tool of the uneducated. Or is that 'Ned' in you're case (assuming you are Scottish).

so only really sad grammer monsters like you give a damn
You're the one that brought up education - why mention it if it's not important?
yes but marty i am more educated in the subjects that really matter
Such as: How to sound like a tw*t 101 Keeping your virginity until well into your 40s Getting on peoples nerves daily An inferiority complex and you Double standards - the only way to argue
I can't take any comment all that seriously if poorly written
It shows a lack of understanding on quite a basic level
Iv'e certainly enjoyed my time with the Halo Wars demo having played the skirmish mode some 20 times now. It's proved a very satisfying quicker experience than i normally have with rts console

ohhh marty it sounds like you have your balls in a twist
No, I just enjoy making you look an idiot. It's the equivalent of kicking puppies, and as I don't condone animal cruelty, you're the next best thing.

So thanks
don't you have some kind of job to do boy
Yes. Don't you have some washing up to do before your mum gets home?
While I do hate to admit it, I wasn't at all impressed with the Halo Wars demo. I was expecting it to be a complete revolution in RTS controls but it didn't feel any different to RA or any of the others. The sticky cursor was useful, but we've seen that before too. The environments were nice enough and the style fits in with the other Halo games, so I expect it'll sell a load of copies on that strength alone.
I'm more interested to see what they do now. Will they stick to the RTS genre or will they branch out? Would be nice to see something a little different from them.
Banned, eh? I did think that last comment was a bit below the belt.
It was this that did it. Guess swearing at CVG staff isn't entirely smart.

I guess the reason it appealled to me was because I have little to compare it too. RTSs have never been my favourite games, and this one seemed genuinely fun and pretty simple with it, which I thought was a nice touch.
I do believe that the controls are FAR better than other console based RTSs I've seen.
Now I used to play Red Alert and RA2 a lot on the PC, yet I'm absolutely addicted to this demo. Granted there are some really nice, more complex RTS features on PC-based games (examples that spring to mind are freedom of base-building, larger armies, force-firing), but these are very minor critisisms that I barely notice in-game.
The thing is that this may be the first truly good RTS designed for the console. It will be the (pretty much guaranteed) second outing that will make this franchise truly great.
Hummmmm got to say i was a bit underwhelmed after playing the demo don`t get me wring it`s a good console RTS it`s just that as i have a strong likeing for pc RTS`s i just find console RTS`s in general to be a tad oversiplified for my likeing, however seeing as it has the halo logo on it i`m sure this will sell by the bucketload, but it`s not the game i would have liked ensemble to go out with i have to admit
